How To Get Down Swelling

Whats some ways to get my tongue swelling to go down from a tongue piercing?

Most people spend between 4 and 6 days dealing with a tongue piercing. Usually you will have one day where you think this is the WORST idea you've ever had and you just want to take it out. If you can get past that day, you're set.

To help keep your swelling down, take an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen or tylenol. Don't do any heavy excercise, get into a shouting match, or otherwise raise your blood pressure for a few days. Sleep with your head elevated. Suck on as much ice as possible. Ice water and other cold drinks will help. If you don't like having a big ice cube, try smashing some up in a ziplock baggie and eating the chips instead.

Soft foods will help limit stress on the piercing. If you don't like soft food, try eating small meals of food you do like. Eating a bit and then letting your piercing rest will limit wear and tear as well. Avoid super spicy food.

Patience and good cleaning will get you through the first week. Eventually your tongue will go back to normal, give it time.

How do i make the swelling on my tragus go down?

Q-tips can leave tiny cotton fibers on a piercing that can irritate it so please don't take a q-tip to your piercing as the others are suggesting. Crust is normal, allow it to come off on its own or with the sea salt soaks you should be doing. It's pretty difficult to submerge your ear into a bowl of the solution for 5-10 minutes so typically the easiest and best way to soak your piercing is by soaking a sterile gauze pad into the solution to soak it.

Swelling is completely normal. Take ibuprofen throughout the day and you can also ice it a few times a day for no longer than 5 minutes each time you ice it. Make sure you wrap the ice in a bag and a paper towel, never apply it directly to the piercing.

How to get the pain and swelling to go down in my nipple piercing?

what kind of jewellery do you have in it?
and how long ago did you get it done??

female nipple piercing takes a while to heal and a lot of how that goes is depicted by what jewellery you have in, a banana/barbell will heal way quicker than a BCR as due to a females anatomy, there is less pressure with your bra & clothes pressing down, effectively keeping the wound from healing

dont put ice on it, it temporarily makes the swelling go down, but thats all, it wont heal and it wont give you anything other than a temporary relief, you need to get to the bottom of why its like this rather than a temp measure

Get some ichthammol ointment, commonly called drawing salve, from a drug store. Put some on a clean gauze and lightly bandage it over the site of the injection. The stuff smells awful, but it works. Change the bandage with the ointment on it frequently; if it’s drawing pus out you’ll see it on the gauze when you change it. I’ve seen this stuff draw out infections that I thought were way too far gone for anything but an ER trip.Be SURE to monitor the swelling and the red area around the injections site. If it continues to grow, or you see red lines coming from it, you’ll have to go to the ER. If the ointment doesn’t start working in 24 hours and the abscess is still swelling, not draining, and spreading, GO TO THE ER. You can seriously lose extremities and even limbs from an abscess that goes untreated. Antibiotics are the only thing I know of if the hot compounds and ointment don’t work…but done quickly, consistently and correctly, they can fix a lot of abscesses that look like the only hope is a doctor. Good luck.

Ice ice and more ice packs for 2-3 days, but if you are beyond that time then warmth and salt water rinses. If you didn't use ice packs properly during the first few days, it will take longer for the swelling to go down.If the swelling is warm or if you are running fever then you will need to be seen again by your dentist.

Sorry for the rather brisk answer, but, YOU WAIT. That's it, if within a few days there is no improvement, or perish the thought the swelling has deteriorated and has started to feel painful, throbbing or hot or swollen up more? Get it checked out. Immediately

How can I get the swelling to go down in new belly button piercing?

First of all, all these people obviously don't have a lot of piercings.

Redness in belly button piercings are normal and the skin on the stomach is going to be a little warmer because of the location- so it doesn't mean it's infected. You'll know if it's infected. You'll have nasty pus (usually a green, orange, or funky color) white pus is usually normal and usually not a sign of infection but you still want to make sure.

It sounds like you're irritating the crap out of the piercing. Stop moving it around, you want to avoid touching the piercing as much as possible- that means ONLY touch it when cleaning it. Also, make sure you clean you hands before touching the piercing and if you touch ANYTHING wash your hands before handling the piercing.

Now to clean, you didn't specify how you're cleaning it so I'll give you a good regime to go by.

Clean the piercing with a mild antibacterial soap such as Dial once a day (I find it easiest to do this in the shower) Do this at night or in the morning when you shower- then every night or morning (opposite of when you used the soap) do a sea salt soak.

Mix non-iodized sea salt with warm water in a shot glass or a dixie cup and soak the piercing for about 10 minutes. Sea salt soaks with promote healing and clear up or prevent infections.

Good luck!
