Yes, you can but only if the straightened hair are atleast 6 months old.Perming immediately or within a duration of 6 months after chemically straightening your hair can damage your hairs.

If I straighten my curly-permed hair, will it go back to being curly afterwards?

If you are going to straighten it regularly yes, after you take a shower it will become curly again. If you straighten your hair when it's dry it won't be as damaging when it's wet. You should use a spray that helps protect your hair from heat damage that you can get at Sally's Beauty Supply.

If you Japanese Straighten your hair it is quite expensive and it will damage your hair, but you can use shampoo for very damaged hair which will make it healthier after you use it for awhile.

If i get a digital perm, can i still straighten my hair and it will stay straight?

Perms and relaxings are very, VERY hard on your hair, and you should never straighten permed hair chemically, or vice versa. Basically, if your hair is naturally straight, a perm will go inside the cortex of your hair, and it'll curl it permanently. It's very, very damaging, because it has to break through the protective cuticle of your hair, to get to the inside. Relaxing is the same thing. So, twice you'll be breaking through your hair, and messing with the cortex.

^That's a healthy hair. See the cuticle, the way it's layered over itself?

^This one's been permed. The cuticle is not totally destroyed, but it's seen a whole lot of damage. It probably would have no shine at all, because the shine comes from light reflecting off a smooth cuticle. Also, because of how the cuticle sticks out your hair will tangle very easily. It'll be like velcro.

^this one's been relaxed. You can see the exposed cortex, where the cuticle has been coming off. Note that this hair has not been straightened over a perm. Can you image what it'd be like if you added the damage of a perm and a relaxing together?

When people straighten permed hair it's very common for their hair to become "gooey". It's because the protective cuticle has been rendered totally useless become it's too damaged, or it may be stripped off entirely. The cortex, unprotected and vulnerable, will stretch whenever you comb your hair, wash it, or even touch it. But unlike a rubber band, it's won't go back to it's shape again. The only solution you really have is cutting it off.

So, the answer is it will not be curly. The hair will not be able to hold a shape of any kind. It will be closer to Silly Putty than anything else. (so, if you do perm, I'd suggest a flat iron.)

Does your hair smell bad after a straightening hair perm?

No, mine doesn't. Perms/relaxers and such do damage your hair over time if it's not done properly (and even if it is done properly it still has side effects) but you're scalp should NOT stink. Unless you don't wash it of course. But if you're white, I highly doubt your hair is really so unmanageable that you need a relaxer.
Try using shampoos that don't contain harsh sulfates such as:

Ammonium Laureth Sulfate
Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate
Laureth Sulfate
Lauryl Sulfate
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate

If you have curly or frizzy hair, these are your WORST enemies. Also, try a deep conditioner with a very rich and creamy conditioner. Leave it in for a while. Like 40 mins and your hair should be silky soft and less prone to frizz because it's so well conditioned.

All about straight perms?

I have really thick, poofy wavy hair that can't do anything. It won't scrunch well, and natural is a poof ball. I straighten every day and it takes forever. It's a hugeee pain. I was considering a straight perm, but I don't know ANYTHING about them. How much do they cost? Are there different kinds or something? I saw something about Japanese straight perms? I heard it makes your natural hair frizzier, but won't it grow out anyway? I've also heard that it damages your hair. At this point, after years of straightening, my hairs already pretty bad so I'm over it. You don't have to answer all of these! Just anything you know about them is more than i know now. thanks! :)

Will using a straightening iron on permed hair destroy the perm?

I had the same fear when I got a perm but it was just fine after I straightened it. I asked my stylist and she said it would be fine so I started straightening it a couple times a week and when you wash it, it will go back to being just as curly as it was before you straightened it. Also I put a curl boosting cream in my hair everyday it was by John Freida's Frizz-ease line. It makes your curls tighter and more curly and shiny.

I hope this helps your new permed hair =]

How do I get my natural curls back after straightening and chemicals?

Eat foods enriched with vitamins c d and e also B since they provide a you with a stronger immune system and promote hair follicles to leave more dead cells behind(Hair).

Can you use semi-permanent hair dye after a relaxer/straightening perm?

Yes, you can semi permanent dye your hair right after a relaxer. They actually say that is the best time to do it because the hair follicles are open and absorb more color.
Basically after you rinse the relaxer and neutralize, you should add the hair color. About half way thru the color processing time, apply your deep conditioner on top of the color, this way you only have to rinse once. When the time is up, rinse first with warm/luke warm water, then cold to seal the cuticle and the color. Rinse til the water runs as clear as possible.
Since rinses coat the hair shaft they can help the hair, but colors other than just black and brown can make the hair look dry, so you might add a nightly moisturizer or oil sheen during the day. Shampoo with color enhancing shampoos to make it last as long as possible and not fade in the sun and a good deep conditioner weekly.
