Text Overlay in iMovie?

You can overlay a clip in iMovie with a mask (solid color or some pattern/photo) that has cut-out text and/or graphics. Basically, you create such a mask using an image editing program, then you add the image file to the clip in the iMovie project, preferably using the 'Cutaway' feature (iMovie '09 and '11).

Basically, it's easy. But if you have never used any image editing program before, it can be quite difficult for you. Should video editing be something that you'd like to intensify, then you should consider using advanced editing applications such as Final Cut Express or Pro, or Adobe Premiere.

You can use a pixel-based image editor like Photoshop, Gimp, etc. or an vector graphics editor like Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw, or Inkscape. I'd recommend a vector tool, with Inkscape being the best you can have for free (legally).

Create an image of the aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3) and dimensions of the largest clip you use in the project. E.g. 1280 pixels x 720 pixels for HD 720p material (all HD frame formats are 16:9), or 720 pixels x 540 pixels for standard def (4:3). In Photoshop/Gimp, you'd have to set the background to be transparent (not filled).

In an vector tool you would then use a Rectangle Shape tool and draw a rectangle (filled with the color of your choice) over the whole canvas. Then you use the Text tool to create a text of your choice above the rectangle, e.g. TESTTEXT in 90pt Arial Black. Then you use the Selection tool to select all elements and use a feature called 'Boolean Operation: Exclusion' (or of similar name). It's a feature found only in vector graphics editing. It will cut out the shape of the text element from the rectangle object in the background. (It removes all spaces that both elements have in common.)

After saving the artwork, you export a copy of it as a .PNG file (with 'transparent background'). The PNG file is then dragged onto the clip in the iMovie project, and from the menu that appears, you choose 'Cutaway'. Done. Now you can adjust the duration and if you want to apply the Ken Burns zooming/panning effect to the mask.

(You need to enable 'Advanced Tools' in the iMovie preferences first.)

How to make text box in iMovie bigger?

You can't make the text box bigger but you can click enter/return a couple times and that will allow you to type wherever in the screen you want. You can also change all fonts and sizes once on the title editing screen and go to the left hand side where it says 'change fonts' and that should bring up a customised menu.

How do you make text bigger in iMovie HD?

there is not any longer plenty distinction between one iPhone and yet another, only a diverse quantity on the top to extend the already ridiculously intense value. they are solid yet no longer as solid via fact the cost tag implies. My recommendation could be to get an up as much as now Sony telephone, iPhones are only like a million% extra effective yet Sony is a fraction of the cost.
