How can I improve the tone of my voice?

Hello,Please ignore all the spam replies with a video of a fake vocal coach from affiliate marketers of his product; let’s look at your issue.Tonality.Tone is subjective. How you hear and perceive your voice may not be how others hear it.Let’s ask a few questions first:1. Are you judging your tone by a recording on a phone or other small device?2. Are you judging your tone based on vocal exercises or singing songs?3. Have others told you your tone isn’t good or is it just your opinion?4. Are you trying to sing songs that are too high for you at this moment? 5. Are you straining, reaching, sound breathy or weak when you sing? The answer to one or all of these will determine what you need to do to change your tonality. It may sound fine, but your critical ear wants something else you’re not capable of doing.Causes of bad vocal tone are:1. Resonance. Poor resonance focus can make a voice sound too harsh or too hollow.2. Bad diction. How you pronounce vowels and consonants can alter your tone in a way that doesn’t sound like your speaking voice.3. Poor support. Incorrect or insufficient breathing can cause poor closure at the vocal folds resulting in a weak, shaky, breathy or poorly projected voice.4. Singing songs outside your current abilities. Everyone has their favorite artists, but trying to sing their songs might be too difficult for your current skill level of singing.Without hearing your voice, its hard to give you an exact course of action, so I will refrain from offering suggestions at this point. Any “teacher” here telling you what you should do without hearing you, is being grossly irresponsible and shouldn’t be answering questions. It shows how poor a teacher they are.If you have links to your singing online, or can upload one for me to hear, I can offer a more complete answer for you.Kevin Richardshttp://www.rpmvocalstudio.com

What is the best way to improve my voice?

Improving your voice permanently is not a days job. It requires practice using the right techniques and staying commited towards it. Lets begin:Take deep and relax your throat muscles. Focus your mind on your throat and exprience the relaxation in your throat during the breathing.Take deep breath and create hhhmm sound by placing your thumb on the ear and 2 fingers on eyes with closed eyes.Improve the strengrh muscles of your neck. To do that lie down on th edge of a bed with your head in the air. Next, move your head up and down 10 times and relax. Do 3 reps of this. You can also turn your head right and left to strengthen neck side muscle.Place your hand on the forehead. Then press your head using the hand oppose the hand using your head. Do this for a duration of 10 secs. This would strenghten your neck muscle and make it more stronger. Do similar activity by placing your hand at the right, left and back of your head. Remember dont push your head and hard too hard.Do hot water and salt gargle. Do this 3 times a day. This clears your throat and you would experience a clear voice.Sleep for 7–8 hours. You might have experienced deep voice when you wake up as your muscles are most relaxed during that time.Well with a good mix of strengthning and relaxing your neck muscle, great deep voice can be achieved over a period of time. Also, I would recommend to keep recording your voice to experience the difference in your voice.

How to improve singing voice?

I'm not much of a singer, but i took singing lessons a few years ago. They made me do a lot of weird stuff...

1.) Sit/stand properly with a straight back and shoulders down and your head in a straight direction.

2.) Try singing 3 consecutive notes back and forth and then; go 1 note higher with the other two consecutive sounds [and it goes on until you reach the higher octave your voice is capable of].

3.) Don't use your throat in singing high notes, your stomach should not expand and you should not try to imitate others singing voice by pinching your voice [that would be damaging your vocals[

4.) Instead, your diaphragm [above you stomach and below the lungs] should expand and ***you should sing out the notes naturally [like burping or like when you speaking normally].

5.) Good singers are usually "vibratos", meaning they can sing out notes with a beautiful vibration [like Whitney Houston]. Again, when doing vibrato you should not shake any part of your body [like mouth or neck or your stomach], that would kinda sound like vibrato but it'll sound really weird.

p.s. Your loud voice doesn't matter, as long as you reach the proper note/key :]

** You should take singing lessons, or watch good online singing lessons like most people do.

I hope that helped! :]

How can I improve my voice skills?

I will answer this from a singer’s perspective. More than anything else, stress harms the voice. So the first thing i’ll recommend is that you ensure you defuse your body of stress. Best ways to do this are:1. To rest well. If you do not have an adequate amount of sleep, it tells quite easily on the voice. A 6 - 7 hours sleep is usually recommended as the adequate amount per day, but more importantly sleep early, at least before midnight. In fact, the best remedy for a worn out voice is to simply rest.2. To exercise regularly. You have to understand that singing is both physiological (physical well-being) and psychological (emotional well-being), and physical exercises go a long way in improving these aspects. You emerge with a stronger tone and timbre over time.3. To keep yourself well hydrated. Doctors recommend at least 8 glasses of water per day. Do not wait until the day of performance to drown yourself in gallons of water, start observing this everyday.Other things I will recommend are:To sign up for vocal classes. There are lots of techniques for maintaining the voice, and it’s usually helpful to have an experienced teacher take you through them on a practical level, and also provide feedback on your improvement. There are also tons of videos on Youtube on the voice, you can always learn a thing or two there. To do vocal warm up exercises before your actual performance. Lip rolls (pushing air through your closed lips to make them flutter and sound like a motorboat), humming, breathing etc. are super helpful. You can find demonstrations of these on Youtube. To pay attention to what goes into your body. Smoking and alcohol consumption (lots of it) are not advisable if you want to maintain a good voice. These are just a few pointers I think should help you (they help me). Remember, as a singer or broadcaster or public speaker or anyone who needs to use the voice professionally, you’re like an athlete, and you need to practice these habits consistently on a daily basis. Then, you will hear and feel your voice improve over time. Good luck!

How can i improve the "airyness" in my voice?

You have to sing from you diaghpram which you are probably doing. But you have to have proper breath support so when you let in the Oxygen send it down to your diaghpram . When you breath you have to let out a certain amount of air. It sounds like you have to limit the amount of air that you are letting out.

How do I improve my command voice?

The trick is to use your diaphragm! A great command voice doesn't really sound like your actual voice, if you have any female cadets with a great command voice you’ll notice that it does not sound feminine at all. The AFI 36–2203, the Drill and Ceremonies Manual, has a section in command voice exercises. To achieve a great command voice, one must understand what a great command voice consists of: loudness, distinction, projection, inflection and snap. Commands have two parts to them: the preparatory and the execution. In the command “Flight, Halt” The preparatory command is “flight,” and the the execution is “halt.” The preparatory command has a rising inflection towards the end of the command, the execution has no inflection. When you're doing these commands, you have to be loud. Loudness shows confidence and that you are in command. If you sound confidence, your people will perform your commands even if you were wrong. The projection part comes in being loud enough that everyone in your command can hear you. The distinctness comes in proper pronunciation of the commands you are saying. When you are doing commands, you should feel like someone is punching you in the stomach not necessarily pain wise but in how your stomach goes in. You shouldn't lose your voice, if you lose your voice you're doing it wrong. During the last few days of Field Training, I got laringytis and became squadron commander. Nevertheless, I still sounded off better than most people in my squadron.I practiced my command voice by singing Celine Dion’s “My heart will go on” and Whitney Houston’s “I will always love you” using my diaphragm. I would also perform Jodies by myself.Having good posture when doing commands also helps. Anyone can have a great command voice—male, female, big or small. Good luck!
