How To Know What Causes A Pain In The Chest

What could cause center chest pain??

Go to ER now. You will need a Cardiologist to check you out.

The same thing happened to my husband when he bend down to pull a weed out of the garden. They put him in the hospital and a couple of days later he had a double by-pass.

Do not play around with this, go to the ER and be checked out.

What causes a sharp pain in your chest?

Chest pain can be due to various reasons . KIndly dont jump to heart attacks but definitely rule it out. so basically chest contains many different structures from where the pathology must be ruled out.Starting from outermost structures going inwards;skin and subcutaneous tissues : check for any skin rash ,abscess, or neuralgia.muscular pain due to undue stretchingbony pain due to inflammation in attachments of ribs to the sternum known as costochondritisesophageal due to gastroesophageal reflux disease which is common after having meals.heart causes as in MI where pain is continuous in character ,lasting longer than 20 minutes, or in pericarditis characterized by chest pain, fever, pericardial rub.lung causes as in pleuritic pain in pleural effusion.another important cause is pulmonary embolism in which case there will be history of prolonged immobilization of the patient.vascular causes as in aortic dissection which is a medical emergency occuring due to very high blood pressure.P.S-there are other many causes for chest pain, above being more commonly seen.

Can crying cause chest pains?

Yes, it totally can, but it is more likely if one is either old or has a weak heart. Because crying causes or is due to stress. Stress means the brain is overworking which implies that more oxygen is needed. This oxygen goes to the brain only when the heart pumps. So if the brain needs more oxygen then the heart needs to pump more causing chest pain.

How do I relieve chest pain caused by stress?

Take a big, deep breath.Let me ask a quick question before I continue: how do you know the chest pain is due to stress?Another big, deep breath. If this is the first time you’re experiencing this pain, its a good idea to go to the ER.Big breath in…and out.Its important to not try and convince yourself that the chest pain is because of stress…even if there’s lots of stress around you.Good…..another deep, calming breath. If stress is causing your chest pain, keep in mind that the discomfort may be due to the fact that your blood vessels to your heart (or coronary arteries) are having “mini-spasms”. These spasms cause narrowing of the tubes through which blood flows, and less blood (and oxygen) are getting to where they need to go…which in this case may be your heart.OK…that was a long one. Take a deep breath, let it out. Take another, and breathe out.The best thing to do is to go to the ER. They’ll figure it out very quickly, and you’ll feel much better that its not something more serious.Big deep breath…and out.My recommendation is to call 9–1–1. It’s not a good idea to try and drive yourself. I hope this response helps. And remember to keep taking deep breaths :)

Is it possible for a bra to cause chest pain?

Hi, everyone, I'm not sure if this is a dumb question...

Yesterday I experienced some really weird chest pain. I was just sitting and I felt the weirdest sensation in around the center of my chest...it was like someone was squeezing my heart and my chest felt achey. My joints also started to hurt, especially in my wrists and the back of my neck, like the back of my neck that connects to my spine. And my veins started to feel cold, like my blood was cold. My temples also got weird sensations too.

It happened a few other times throughout the day, but just the chest pain. Especially when I was trying to fall asleep, my chest just felt so strange and my temples were twitching again...so I took off my bra, I don't know what compelled me, and my chest instantly felt better.

Is that just a coincidence, or is it possible for a bra to cause chest pain? And if not, do you have any idea what all these symptoms could point to? I often feel these symptoms, especially the pins and needles almost on my brain and the achey-ness in my wrists.

Thanks, sorry if I'm over-reacting!

Chocolate can cause chest pain if you're prone to acid reflux. If you experience acid reflux and go to the doctor and get treatment, chocolate is one of the things they tell you to avoid. Can gas cause pain in your arm?

Yes, it can. But WHY?When our knee hurts, we know it's not a problem with our elbow, so how does gas cause pain in a different place, like your arm? This is because the insides of our body are not “wired” neurally for pain in the same way as the outside of our body is.It makes sense that when we encounter something in the world that could hurt us, it can cause pain in that part of our skin where we touch it, whether it be something sharp, crushing, hot, etc.But there is really no biological need to have this sense perception for pain on the inside of our body. You’ve never burned your spleen on a hot stove, or cut your lung with a shaving razor. Therefore, the sensory nerves inside our body are much more diffuse. That is, it's much harder to tell where things are. When your stomach or side hurts, it's often a blunt or vague feeling that covers an area. It's not like if someone pokes you on the ribs from the outside with their finger, then you know exactly where it is.This, therefore, leads to referred pain. That is, pain that moves around into different places from its source. In the case of gas, the stomach has stretch receptors that can sense how much it is being filled up.It is these stretch receptors that you sense when you feel full after eating and drinking. When there is gas in there, the stretch receptors are really getting activated because the gas is taking up space. And it is these stretch receptors that send out signals throughout the inside of your abdomen and even into your chest, in this kind of diffuse, referred pain way.So since these nerves are not structured to give your brain an exact map of where things are, in the same way that nerves on TOP of your skin can, signals just go all over, and you can feel pain from gas pressure is weird places like your arm, chest, back, neck, etc.If you liked this answer, click the light blue button below so more people will see this on Quora.
