How To Lose Weight Without Much Exercise I Fractured My Back

How to lose weight without losing boobs?

I know you can't spot reduce fat, but hear me out. I've been trying to lose weight off my thighs recently and am having problems. I'm 5'7 and 125 lbs so I don't need to lose that much weight, but so far most of the weight I've lost has come off my boobs/stomach/butt. I didn't mind so much at first, and before this past weekend I started to feel like I was losing weight off my thighs.

This past weekend, however, I got really sick with food poisoning, going 2-3 days without eating much of anything. Now that I'm feeling better (and eating and exercising like normal) I've noticed that my boobs, butt and stomach have become really skinny. Like gross skinny. I can see my ribs, my boobs which were already a size 32A look like they're actually getting smaller, and my butt is shrinking. Of course, my thighs are the same... so how to fix this?

I still want to lose weight off my thighs, but I don't want to look like a stick from the waist up. Do you think since my body was in "starvation mode" over the weekend that's why I lost an extreme amount of weight off my boobs/stomach/butt? Bad analogy: If I was broke and had a savings account, I'd try hang on to the money in the savings account (sort of a safety net, if you will) before spending it, even if it meant selling the furniture in my apartment. Maybe my body was trying to hold onto the reserves of fat in my thigh for as long as possible, because it thought I was starving and that's why my upper body became so skinny? If so, maybe eating more and taking a break from exercising (to gain the upper body fat back) would help before starting to lose weight off my thighs again? Or am I just doomed to look like a stick? I hate my thighs, but I don't want to look like I have a completely flat chest either :(

What exercise can I do to continue losing weight with a fractured ankle?

Losing weight is almost totally driven by food choices (what and how much). Exercise (such as walking) is excellent for fitness and for making sure that the weight you lose is fat and not muscle, but exercise contributes very little to weight loss. Running a mile burns less than 200 calories, so if you ran two miles a day, and then had a donut to celebrate (450 calories)—well, you see the problem. My current diet advice is here, and it’s simple, easy, effective, satisfying (you won’t feel hungry), involves no calorie counting, and offers an easy transition from weight loss to weight maintenance, always tricky. It will probably take a couple of weeks to get the hang of it, but stick with it for two months and see then what you think.

Why do I lose weight when I take a break from exercising for a few days?

I think the best answer so far is Richard H. Schwartz's about "hydration."   But there is a back story to that which also touches on what Mads Seems said about "inches or weight."  The back story is this -- regular work outs build up your muscle glycogen, there is enough glycogen in muscles of a well trained person that it produces visible bulging, it is "palpable."  Vigorous exercise or long runs will use up that glycogen, and if you weigh before and after vigorous exercise you might see a loss of a pound or two.   Why does glycogen weigh so much?   Well, it doesn't -- but glycogen is made of glucose/sugar, and glucose requires a lot of water of hydration.  So the more glycogen there is in your muscles, the more water you will have in your muscles, and water is quite heavy.   If you see a weight loss from vigorous exercise it will rapidly reverse because in training your body you have trained your muscles to make lots of glycogen daily. When you take a break for a few days, the rate of glycogen synthesis drops and the amount of muscle glycogen drops -- so the hydration, the water in your muscles also drops, and you go down a few pounds. For what it's worth -- you can completely exhaust your muscle glycogen by running a marathon.   That is the biochemistry behind the phenomenon of "hitting the wall"!   Your body has to "shift gears" and start burning fat instead of glycogen and for a while you just feel sick and terrible.   "Carbo loading" a day or 2 before a marathon works to pump up your muscle glycogen to higher than normal levels.

How long does it take to regain the water weight you lost back?

You're only going to gain water weight if you eat lots of carbs. For every gram of carbohydrate you eat, you store 3 grams of water. This opens the door to gain a lot of water weight. I eat a low carb diet, so I never hold onto excess water weight. Whenever I have a day where I treat myself to lots of carb, I will gain as much as 10 lbs of water overnight, and this usually takes 5 days back on low carb to pee all of that fluid back out. In other words, all that water weight can come back as fast as overnight, and you can gain it all back.

Would you lose weight faster after having recently gained weight?

Ok suppose someone weighing 200 lbs lost 20 lbs in 3 months, but then took a month break of diet and exercise, and gained all the weight back. Now they want to lose it again, would they lose the 20 pounds faster the second time around since they just recently put it on or would it take the same amount of time as the first time? (or would it take longer)??

How to lose weight fast for wrestling?

the key to loosing weight is to eat multiple nutritious snack many times throughout the day bc it helps to keep your metabolism burning calories...this can be anything from a bowl of cereal with skim milk to a healthy trail mix that does not include chocolate...as portion control is another issue...make sure to take a multivitamin everyday since many vitamins such as B6 an B12 help your body to metabolism food into energy....as far as exercise u will need to do a combination of cardio and strength training....note that strength training will help make ur muscles burn more calories after u stop exercising and while u sleep...which brings up another point...sleep is important for two reasons..first, it will help ur muscles to recuperate..secondly ur body burns calories while u sleep and lack of sleep causes u to overeat during the day to stay awake...so u need to get at least 8 hrs every night...also make sure that when it comes to exercise u do some sort of stretching exercise such as yoga or pilates, these will also help u build lean muscle....as far as what food to eat..i recommend fruits and vegetables such as grapefruit, pears, grapes, blackberries, and blueberries, broccoli, spinach, green beans, and kale....for protein go with grilled chicken, lean turkey, or some sort of soy burger(I recommend Morning Star Farm Grillers)..just make sure u dont eat to much protein bc excess protein is stored as fat....good luck!!

How much weight do people normally lose after a break up?

I know sometimes people don't lose weight. I had a bad break up and the weight keeps coming off to an extreme. I can go days without eating and then I may eat a lot. Other days I have to force myself to eat. Since December I have lost 45 ponds, not that I am upset about it as I was overweight to begin with. It just seems like a lot so fast.
