How To Make A Hoop Skirt Cage

Wedding--I have to wear victorian clothing: hoop skirt, corset...?

Yes you can work on being more comfortable with the corset. I would recommend lacing in the corset with only a 2" reduction for a day or 2, then tighten it an inch for a day, than an inch more, then the final inch for a day or 2. Put on hose first, then shoes, then work up the layers. Once you put on the corset you don't want to bend to your feet for your shoes.

If I were you I would start lacing in tomorrow, loosen the laces a little and sleep in the corset if you can tolerate it

NOTE normally you would take longer to complete this process but you only have 8 days.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a budgie?

Fun, Fun, Fun!

No disadvantages as long as you have the time to keep it's cage clean.

Just make sure you give it plenty of fruits and vegies.

They love pasta and anything you eat that is healthy,

No salt or sugars.

Teach it to talk....Birds learn best ot talk when there is excitment in your voice.

Have a blast!!!!
Happy Fall!

How did the 1800's people do their makeup?

At the beginning of the 1800s,I think women were still wearing makeup, but by the mid-1800s it had gone out of fashion for respectable women, and only prostitutes or actresses would wear it (a few daring women might wear a very little secretly if they thought they could get away with it). Makeup didn't really come back into fashion for women until the 1920s.

Throughout the 1800s, women would wear long dresses that reached to the ground (showing the legs did not become acceptable until the bicycle became popular in the 1890s).

In the early 1800s, light fabrics like muslin and cotton were fashionable, dresses were long and stright with high waists, and hair was worn short or up in curls, a sort of classical look was fashionable. From the 1820 onwards, dresses became heavier and bulkier again. Corsets were used to make waists slender, and dresses for evening wear might be low-cut, showing off the bosom. In the mid-1800s, the crinoline became fashionable, a sort of cage worn under the skirt which held the skirt out like a large bell. Later in the century the bustle became popular, a sort of padded roll worn under the skirt that made it stick out at the back.

ladies always wore hats and gloves when they went out. Hats varied in style through the century, from simple bonnets in the early 1800s to very elaborate large hats with feathers, flowers, and sometimes even fruit at the end of the 1800s.

Men's fashions generally remained sober throughout the 1800s. Close fitting dark coats, tight breeches and highly polished boots were fashionable in the early 1800s. A strip of white cloth called a cravat was worn around the neck, it might be arranged ina number of different elaborate styles. In the late 1800s, the cravat was replaced by the tie, and men wore suits. Beards, which had been out of fashion for a very long time, became fashionable again in the late 1800s.

What do you put under a wedding dress to make it poofy?

There are a few ways to add volume to the skirt of a wedding dress. It doesn't have to be a ballgown dress. Fit-and-flares need the same help to, well, flare!Tulle! Lots and lots of tulle. So many layer thats you lose count. This can be great and amusing and romantic, but it’s also pretty swooshy and not so poofy.A Petticoat can be added to many skirts to give it a more dramatic fluff. These can be standalone and added to a slip or sewn into the skirt. Usually it is made of crinoline, which can be wiry and stiff but gives the most volume for it’s weightHorsehair braid is usually softer than crinoline. This is a band that goes around the entire skirt hemline. This adds volume but in a more natural way so the skirt is still flowing but it can’t fall flat at your feet. It can be 1″ in width up to 6″. Even some smaller, simple, A-line dresses can have some 1/4″ Hair-braid just for kicks of fluffiness. There can be hoops in a petticoat but that method is not as cost effective as these other nylon/poly materials. That’s it! A very large ballgown can employ many of these. Usually it will have a liner so the crinoline isn't scraping up your legs. Then one or two layers of crinoline. Then more petticoat of tulle with horsehair braid attached, followed by lots of tulle and finally the outer, more presentable layer.
