I put a small carpet tack in the top of the door and put a wire on it, then tapped it flat. Then I hung the wreath from the wire. You could also use clear fishing line. The tack will probably clear the door frame when closed.

You do not want to wrap ribbon around an electrical cord. Try clipping the cord to the back of the wreath with plastic clipper clothes pins and then taking it off to the side as discretely as possible. Then swag some similar garland interlaced with lights to either side and connect those light cords to your wreath light cord and use them as the extension cords.

Cons of NAILS, WREATH HANGERS and RIBBON/STRING : ~Nail will put a hole in the door, unless you paint it the color of the door and leave it there. ~Some doors won't close without scratching and denting the door frame, while a Wreath Hanger is on them. ~ With Ribbon or String, the Wreath will slide around on the door as you open and close it or even slide off completely if opened too fast. This is quite annoying. I'm glad you asked this question because I've tried the other options and hadn't yet thought about it this year. Now I'm going to go get some 3M Hooks!
