How To Make My Black Hair Softer

How can black men's hair be softened?

Here’s what I do with my hair:I only use sulfate free shampoo and that’s because the sulfate removes all of the oil present inside the hair. You can use brands like Cantu, Shea Moisture or Palmers. As for the conditionner get one from the same shampoo brand you choose.I put lotion on it twice a week or sometimes even once a week, depending on how long your hair can stay without getting dry. But since your hair is really tough, you can do that more often. I recommend using ORS Olive Oil Hair Lotion. If you can get a spray bottle, fill it with warm water and 4 drips of Argan oil, that could help a lot. You just need to spray some of it on your hair everyday after your shower, then comb it if you want. Although I’d highly recommend you comb it in order to avoid having messy hair.

Black girl with soft hair = mixed??

I have no clue. I know a bunch of dark skinned black girls at my school who are full black with curly, wavy and straight silky hair. Africa is very diverse, anyone in Africa can tell you that blacks don't have just one hair type.

For ex. West Africans (most african americans desendents are from there) usually have kinky afro-like hair. Which is what most Americans are used to seeing cuz that's where the ancesters of most black americans are from.

North Africans usually have curly "jew-fros", loose waves or straight hair.

East Africans (Somalia, Ethiopia etc) usually have curly, wavy, straight, kinky curly, or kinky afro hair.

I could go on. But I think my point should be made.

Edit: btw, kinky afro hair is not hard. If you ever touched it before, it's actually really soft and fluffy.

How can i make my hair movable & soft?

DONT LISTENT TO ANYONE ELSE MY DEAR..... im a licensed cosmetologist..... the first thing you must do is stop dying it.... you also need to go either to a salon or a cosmetology school and get a deep conditioning treatment for the time being..... DO NOT use any hair shampoo or conditioner that you can buy at walmart!!! pantene, garnier, herbal essences, dove.... those all have really high PH levels.... you MUST use a shampoo and conditioner that has a lower PH from a salon.... **biolage, paul mitchell, jerico, bedhead, catwalk** these all have a very low PH between 5-7 as apposed to the store bought 11-14! now as far as anything else you put on your hair, doesnt matter what brand, you can use cheap hairspray, cheap molding pastes, cheap gel, but you cant use cheap shampoo and conditioner with hair like yours.... i can see how thick it is in the picture a little length wont hurt either it will add more weight and heat though, so keep that in mind...... and once again, stop putting chemicals on it, when you lift (bleach) dark or black hair, it weakens it, if you lift THICK dark hair like yours it weakens it AND makes it very bristley and hard.... good luck hon!!!

New black belt..need to soften?

Wash it in hot water a couple of times and keep tying it on and off to wear it in where it needs to be soft the most so it doesn't come undone so easy.

I still see that some people believe in that it's disrespectful to wash your belt and that's okay. To each their own.

I used to believe that washing your belt is disrepectful and that your washing away your Ki and years of training until I went to Tokyo to train at the Hombu Dojo. My sponser (7th Dan Shihan in Aikido) had his wife wash my gi and BELT! That's right the Japanese were the one's washing my belt! Of course I freaked out and asked "Why did you wash my belt?". The answer was simple "It was very dirty and smelly!". Hell if the Shihan who spent more than 35yrs training daily is washing his belt then so will I.

Then when I started BJJ there was an incident where a student kept fixating on how long it would take for a black belt. Carlos Valente (6th Degree under Rickson Gracie) got mad and took off his black belt and gave it to the student. Then he went in his office and grabbed a couple of black belts and asked anyone else if they wanted one? He then put on a white belt. He says "So tell me what has changed besides the color of our belts?" He then quotes Royce Gracie, "A belt just covers two inches of your a*s*s, you have to cover the rest!". He wore that white belt for over a week without problems. The student finally had to beg Professor Valente to take his black belt back.
