How To Make My Dogs Get Along With My Cat

If you have both a cat and a dog, how do they get along?

I had 7 cats and a Siberian Husky, a breed of dog which everyone said can't tolerate critters like cats.Since I brought my Husky when he was a pup, the task is much easier, just introduce him/her to your cat(s). Sometimes they fight, but mostly it just friendly fight. No one gets injured badly.Even now, my Husky loves cat than a dog. Everytime he saw an injured cat he has an urge to lick and clean it.if you want to make your dog tolerable to cats, buy a pup less than 6 months (if possible) because older they get your dog(perhaps) will be harder to tolerate catsWell I guess pictures speak louder than words. It's my Husky with his litte brother. It was a stray cat i picked and he is comfortable with my Husky. My Husky with his friend. When my husky came for the first time in my house this white cat is the first cat playing with him.Edit:Whoa, Thanks for the upvotes! I never had upvotes more than 10 before! And i found some of my Husky pictures in my laptop, Enjoy! For somebody who wondering how my Husky can tolerate Indonesian climates, I didnt live in a big city like Jakarta or Surabaya. In the night is getting chilly here, sometimes its about 17 celcius. And in the day it never exceed 29 celcius. Unlike Jakarta or Surabaya which is 30 degrees upwards is common.

How well do pug dogs get along with cats?

My 10yo pug/Boston terrier mix, Hank, has always loved cats. They could wallow & head-bonk him continuously & he’d allow it. When a stray I’d brought in ended up having kittens, he used to guard those babies like it was his job. In fact, I used to have a picture of the momma cat (named Boo) lying in a pet bed, nursing her kittens while looking up at Hank who had his head rested on the side of the bed, watching over them. My other cat, Herbie, a semi-feral who had come to me through a rescue after getting caught in a car engine, adores Hank. After adjusting to the house & finally realizing no one, human or animal, would hurt him, he bonded with Hank quickly & can often be found lying on top of Hank at night - Hank snuggled up against me lying under the blankets with his butt sticking out with Herbie lying directly on top of him, meowing at me to wake up & pet him.My pug, Wednesday is a different story. She’ll try to chase Boo but after several times of no reaction from the cat, she finally gave up. Boo just kinda lounges around & gives her a “What the hell is wrong with you?” look anytime Wednesday tries to rush up on her. She had to learn the hard way with Herbie. She tried chasing him & got popped in the eye. He wasn’t going to put up with her shit. Thankfully, it didn’t do any damage aside from giving her a goofy looking wink for a couple days.My most recent addition, (Cooper) a pug/dachshund mix foster failure who came to me after being rescued during an emergency cruelty seizure, tried chasing both cats. The first reacted how she usually does - won’t run or give chase & instead head-bonked him. Herbie was more cautious & would jump onto a bar stool instead of letting Cooper catch those paws. Cooper is Hank’s little shadow & has started doting on the cats the way Hank does. I’m so happy he took after my smart, sweet old man instead of my bossy, instigator pug lol.Although every dog is different, overall pugs are a social, happy little breed who mostly gets along with everyone & everything. They love to be loved & being with their family.*Note: I apologize for any typos or grammatical errors. I typed this up on my phone while waiting in line in hell - Walmart

How well do kittens and dogs get along?

My instance was the exact opposite. I had a 4 1/2 year old cat when I got a puppy. If the dog isn't neutered, he may mark his territory. My mom's dog does this every time he is around my cat! However, I would think that the key to a peaceful cohabitation would be in how you socialize the two for the first few weeks. I wouldn't bring the kitten in and just let him have free reign of the house from day 1. After all, it has been your beagle's home until now. Slowly introduce them the first few days, then let the interaction go for a tad bit longer each time until you think they are accustomed to having the other one around. My dog runs my cat to death. Sometimes the cat hides for hours. It makes me sad some days because he won't play if the dog is out. But, other days, he runs the dog to death. They get along pretty decently for the most part.

Good luck! Hope all goes well!

What can I do to make my two girl dogs get along?

If there has been a “real fight” (i.e. biting to cause harm, actual bloodshed) then my recommendation is that you rehome one of the dogs - now - because bitches don’t get over stuff like that. When two male dogs fight, it is largely about posturing. They might make a lot of noise and they certainly are more likely to “go at it” than the girls, but rarely does anyone actually get hurt and afterward they are buddies again. When two female dogs fight, it is almost always about life-or-death. Females fight a lot less often, but when they do it is because of serious stuff worth killing/dying over. Once two dogs have decided that it’s them or the other dog, it is unsafe to keep them together and almost impossible to get them to make up.If the dogs are just posturing and making noise, then correct that if it bugs you and remind them that you are bigger and badder and more in charge and don’t put up with that kind of nonsense by being a calm, confident, and fair leader.
