How To Potty Train Puppies

How to potty train a puppy?

This is wrong. the cage is where your puppy should sleep. dogs do not want to use the bathroom where they sleep. you need to take the puppy outside (depending on how old it is) every 30 mins to 2 hrs after it eats or drinks... make sure that it does pee or poop each time you take it out to go pee... do not play with it when you take it out until after it does its business... make sure you praise it "good dog" when its done so it knows that going potty is done outside. also the cage should be only big enough for it to lay down. slowly increase the size of the cage (if it is a big dog) as he or she grows.

How to potty train my puppy?

it's kinda hard to fix the problem once the puppy has never been trained.
but you can try to let your puppy smell the potty training paper and tell her to pee there.
like give her a treat everytime she pees on the potty paper and she'll learn that it's the place to pee.
and give her a spank when she pees on the carpet or your bed...
and tell your puppy that it's wrong.
dogs actually do understand you.

How do you potty train a Yorkie puppy?

Breed makes no difference but lets go over some points.House training your puppy is about consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement. The goal is to instill good habits and build a loving bond with your pet. All dogs become conditioned never to eliminate in their dens. From two to four months of age, most pups pick up on the concept of housebreaking and crate training quite easily since it is part of their natural programming. This is another phase that will take around 6 months to master.Potty Training Tips:Game Face After Feeding – Five to 30 minutes after the puppy eats, it will want to defecate. So with a consistent eating schedule, and your attention to the clock, your puppy can maintain regular trips outside.Hourly Rotation – If you can, take the puppy outside every hour to the same patch of grass and wait for him to pee/poop. Its imperative that you act super excited and give them a treat right after they do their thing. This will teach them that going out side is a good thing and they will learn that going to this spot means bathroom time.Puppy Pads – Use the same hourly rotation on the puppy pads and reward good behavior.Look For Signs – Get ready to spring into action when the he begins to sniff the ground and roaming around in circles. Once they start the look for their spot, say a command like “Go Potty” and reward good behavior.Positive Reinforcement – Keep in mind that this is frustrating work. Always use positive reinforcement and a firm “NO!” or “Bad Dog” when they go in the wrong place. Never shove your dogs face in the poop or pee because it will only confuse them. If you come home to an accident DO NOT GET MAD!!!!!! Dogs think in the moment so you getting angry will only teach the puppy that getting excited when you come home is bad behavior. Accept your loss and move on.

How do you potty train a puppy for a Big Rig?

What size is your dog? I was over the road with a chihuahua for years and I have to tell you I did use puppy pads. As you know there are times when you simply can't stop and a litter box takes up too much room and there's a chance that it will get tipped over.

My dog didn't experience any confusion about going outside when we could stop but the pads made it easy clean up for those times when you have to press on.

We loved having our dog with us, it made the miles a little easier. Good luck and enjoy.

Quickest way to potty train a puppy?

OK....got a puppy about a week ago and trying to potty train him. We crate him when we are not at home and of course he doesnt go in there. We take him out frequently when we are home....he is never in the crate for more than 3 hours. I know this seems like a long time but we do have to work. We thought he was getting the hang of it but lately we take him outside for a while and he goes but then he comes inside and goes again. Why is he doing this? Any suggestions of how we can help him stop this? Puppy pads are not an option--we do not want him to think going inside is ok under any circumstance.

Schedule your puppy’s trips outdoors. The average puppy needs frequent opportunities to eliminate. Start first thing in the morning with a trip outside as soon as your puppy awakens. Puppies feel the call of nature about every hour when they are awake and playing. They need to go out soon after eating, and after drinking waterEvery time you take your puppy outside, give her plenty of cues. As you walk out the door with her, say “Let’s go outside.” Take her to her spot, and repeat your cue phrase as she is about to eliminate. (Be sure to use a phrase that does not come up in every day conversation. Avoid cues such as “be a good dog” in favor of something more specific, such as “go.”) When she goes, praise her enthusiastically and reward her with a very small food treat, right there on the spot. After several repetitions of this routine, your puppy will learn to eliminate on cue (very useful in bad weather or strange places) and learn that eliminating outside is more fruitful than eliminating inside. After a week of this, continue to praise the puppy every time she goes outside, but reward with food on a more random basis. In a couple of weeks, you won’t need the food reward at all.
