How To Relieve A Car Title When You Scrap A Car

Can you scrap a car without a title?

No,it is even risky also.

Can u crush a car without the title?

Yes

Getting rid of a vehicle without a title can be difficult because many businesses are forced to legally assume that a vehicle with no title is a stolen vehicle. In reality, vehicles are sometimes left without titles because the title has been lost, the vehicle was abandoned or there was an issue with a lien on the title that was never properly resolved. Disposing of a vehicle that does not have a title may be challenging, but it can certainly be done with a little patience and time.

Locate the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). It should be visible on a sticker in the driver's side door jamb as well as on a plate fastened to the vehicle's dashboard. You will need the VIN in order to properly identify the vehicle.

Visit a local branch office of the government agency that handles vehicle titling and registration in your area. If you are the legal owner of the car, you should file for a duplicate title for the vehicle. This is usually just a matter of filling out a form and providing proof of your identity. If you are not the legal owner, you should ask the title clerk what the best method is for obtaining a title to the car. In some states, if the car is over a certain age and has not been registered recently, you can obtain a title by filling out some paperwork. In most states, you will need to file an application to obtain the right to dispose of a vehicle abandoned on your property.

Wait the required amount of time for your title request to run its course. In the case of abandoned vehicles, the legal owner is given a fairly short amount of time to come reclaim the vehicle from your property. If he shows up, he will be required to take his car, and you will have succeeded in getting rid of it. If he does not show up, you will be issued a title to the car by the state.

Put the car up for sale or call a scrap yard or charity to come get it. Once you have the title, you can dispose of the car however you please with no fear of legal ramifications. Most junkyards will come pick up scrap vehicles and pay you a small fee for the car.

To sell a car for parts, will it require a title?

If your father-in-law is the LEGAL owner of the vehicle, you do not need a title to part out a vehicle or sell the whole vehicle as "for parts only". So unless your state has some weird laws, no title is required.

I've parted out vehicles in the past, have bought vehicles in the past for parts & never once was a title required if you are not going to register the vehicle on the road to drive.

And when I'm done stripping the parts off that I need, I've also never had to have a title to tow the vehicle to the scrap yard so they can place it in the crusher & selling the vehicle to them as scrap metal.

Can I sell a abandoned car with no title?

Technically, no. If a vehicle is not in your name, then it is not legally yours to sell. That doesn’t mean you can’t sell it; you’ll just be breaking the law.Depending on what state you are in, you’ll have different options. Look up your state’s statutes on abandoned vehicles. Many states won’t allow you to get a title for an abandoned vehicle, but some states might. Good luck.

How do you sell a junk car without a title?

If you have the VIN (vehicle identification number), you can order a replacement title.

If the car is truly a junk car and won't ever be on the highway ever again, you can sell it by a private bill of sale. Just draw up a piece of paper with the buyer and seller's name on it, describe the vehicle as best you can, include the purchase price, and both of your sign it.

What happens if I don't pay my title loan back?

Let me explain more...I know that they can repossess the car. Thing is, I need the intake manifold replaced and that is going to cost a minimum of $400, which I don't have. Someone has offered me a small amount of money for the car (they know the repairs it needs) so what happens if I sell the car? Can I get in trouble for that in any way? I called the title loan place (didn't tell them it was me) I pretty much laid out the situation to them, they said that all that will happen is that I will never be able to get a loan through their company again. To me that seems like people can get off too easy on these places...can charges be pressed or anything like that?
