How To Stop My Female Dog From Attacking My Male Dog

Why would a female dog attack a male dog?

Some female dogs will not allow a male's amorous advances. It's happened to me several times.Years ago I was pleasantly surprised when a well known German judge approached me to send me a great, young Rottweiler female. When I received her she was astounding! We finished her AKC and Canadian championships in record time. All her tests, eyes, heart, hips, elbows, thyroid came back as excellent. Her pedigree was full of champion sires and dams. So, I decided to breed her to the most genetically compatible dog I could find.Minor detail, she'd rather die than be bred. Nobody sells a female of that caliber unless something is wrong with her. Lesson learned. Then there are females that are animal aggressive and hate everything other than humans. Same sex, opposite sex, age, size, made no difference. There are also females that are highly selective and will only allow the stud of her liking to approach her.Dogs are as diverse from one another, as we are, in all aspects.

How do I stop our older alpha female dog from attacking a younger female dog?

Are you talking about a *real attack* (which means the older dog is intending to cause harm and is biting the younger dog causing real harm)? If so, rehome a dog. Two females that have once gotten into a *real fight* have about a 1% chance of ever being safe/happy together after that (males are much more forgiving and much less likely to do actual harm to each other, though they do make more noise about it).For anything less than actually drawing blood, supervise, tell them to knock it off, and let them work it out. Young dogs are butt-heads and older dogs have the Sacred Duty to remind them to stop being butt-heads. Muzzle-slapping, growling, charging, knocking the other dog down, etc, are all normal and not likely to progress to actual violence. I would just keep them supervised when together until they work it out.

How do I stop my male dog from mating my female dog without getting him fixed?

Separate them now, and trust me baby gates, door gates will not stop the breeding, that male will hop right over those things like they are not even there....

you must keep them far apart while she is in heat, don't even let them close to each other, or you will have alot of unexpected puppies fast.

she must be taken out on her own walks, and on a leash, do not let them eat, or anything together....

now, if you are gonna breed these dogs later on in their life with their own breeds, be sure you have them tested, all shots, wormed and both these dogs need to be on Heart-guard Plus for heart-worms and hook worms, for their entire life, this will also ensure the dogs are healthy heart wise...be sure both are wormed and all shots up to date at least 30 days before breeding....

and remember the female or male neither should be bred till at least 18-24 mos, preferably 24 mos for both, this will also ensure the dog is fully developed and can handle the breeding's

good luck

Breeder/show/handler 15 yrs......

are you planning on breeding to just sell pups, or are both of these dogs champions...and is the breeding to improve the breed and to show them or produce show quality pups, if not, then get both fixed.......and don't add to the millions of unwanted dogs already in shelters.

Why does my female dog attack my older male dog?

It sounds like some kind of conflict as occurred. But what that is, well you'd need to see a behaviorist or trainer to figure it out.

Its not uncommon for two dogs to fight, what you need to be worried about is when the fight causes blood.

Where and what are they doing when these fights happen? Is it around food or a toy? that could mean that she is possessive or protective of her "stuff"

You need to observe more as what is going on around them and what they are doing..what position are the ears, their body posture etc.

Male dog attacks female when doorbell rings?

This is called a redirected aggression; This is a relatively common type of aggression.
It often happens when the dog can see a person or another dog passing by .
For example, two family dog's may become excited, and bark and growl at each other in response to another dog or person passing by the home, and because they are confined inside the home or confined behind behind the fence in the yard and are unable to attack, they will turn on each other or in your case the more dominant dog will turn on the less dominant one and attack it.
I would use the operant conditioning method....When your dog is attacking the other dog you could use the spray bottle the instant he begins to attack give him a squirt and say sternly NO BITE you may have to do this a few times but when he stops say Good NO BITE and either give him a treat with heaps of praise for listening and obeying....Repeat as much as it takes but he will soon learn what behavior brings the best results...which is no bite.
If for any reason your dog will not listen...time out is effective tell him three times no bite if after the third time he does not listen time out for 5 minuets....when he is released from time out you must ignore him for 5 minuets this is important because if you make a fuss of him upon time out he will associate time out with the attention he gains upon being let out and time out will not be effective.
Good luck

How do I stop my male dog from mating my female dog without getting him fixed?

Well what sort of dogs do you have firstly?
You may be able to keep them separated, but this is going to be a hard task. Your male is going to go after this female he*l or high water.
If you have smaller dogs it's easier, got something bigger? He's going to knock or chew down your dang door to get to her.
Why would you not want to get one or both fixed anyway? The female is going to attract other males, the male is going to have a strong urge to wonder and knock up the females around town.
Just do yourself and the dogs a big favor and get them fixed.

Add:
A Doberman and Pitbull? Boy are you in for a hard time. You may want to try and keep one crated in a closed off room (be sure to rotate). He's going to try to get after her but your going to have to watch them, and don't leave them unsupervised for a secound.

Why did my friends male dog try attacking a female in heat?

First of all, dont start the whole animals in shelters thing, i know milllions are killed and it wasnt even me trying to breed i had my male neauterd yesterday,

Well my friends has my males brother cause she gave us one when her female had puppies and she kept one
But he is 1 & 9 months old, an American bulldog, and they tried breeding him to a female Ambulldog but before they brought the female into his yard they let them meet between a fence since this is his first time breeding, but he showed lots of agression so we tried trunign her around and letting him sniff he sniffed but still showed agression,

Why did he do that because when his mom came in heat he tried mounting her, but he didnt even seem to know that this female is in heat
