There are plenty of ways!First, you can try by getting scholarships. There’s no harm in trying for scholarships, so just go for it! Have you tried looking into government scholarships? Some quick google searches would do. Or, maybe you can ask your school if they know any scholarships in which you’re qualified to enter.Second, free education. In several countries, education is free! Yes, even for international students. But, you still need to think about other expenses such as living expenses, textbooks, etc.Third, student loan. How can I get money to study abroad?

I am a junior in high school now, honestly, I wasn't the greatest student during my first couple years. I had no goals, wanted nothing from life, and I just didn't care. Now, I realized how stupid I was. I wish I could repeat my last few years of high school.
Recently, I have found a goal I want to work towards, but I think it might be too late. I really want to study abroad in Japan. Not just for a summer, but a semester/year. (Yeah, just like every other teenager does; except, I am not some weeaboo who wants to go because I saw an anime. I am actually studying the language).
My GPA is decent enough to get accepted by most programs, however I am in no exceptional enough to get my trip paid for and my family can't afford to pay for my tuition.
I don't have enough money and most programs deadlines are very soon and I only have one more year of high school.
Is there anything I can do? Should I just give up and try again at college?

Can anyone study abroad without getting money from their parents?

A good student without a super high EFC can get abroad without a lot of family support. The first cost saving measure is to go to a cheap country. At the University of Oregon, there are programs in South America and Southeast Asia that are cheaper than going to University in the States. If you want to learn a language spoken in multiple countries, consider the ones with lower costs of living; i.e., studying in Chile instead of Spain, or Senegal instead of France. You’ll get just as amazing of an experience, meet cool people, and not go bankrupt. If you want to study a language spoken only in really expensive countries, that’s okay too. I studied in Japan, one of the most expensive countries in Asia. The second cost saving measure is to get scholarships. People want to get good students abroad, especially if it means them learning critical languages. The Boren Scholarship, for example, will send you to countries with languages deemed important to “national security” in a broadly defined sense. You do have to work in a field related to national security for a year after you graduate though. Boren Scholarship BasicsLoans are also an option, if you feel like the pay off from study abroad will be worth it. I took out loans to study; but I attribute my current employment to having studied abroad, so it all worked out.If you want to get abroad, and you’re a decent student, you can do it.

Is it possible to study abroad without money?

Tinashe Michael Tapera's answer to How can a college undergraduate make $30,000 a year? Tinashe Michael Tapera's answer to How can international students pay for college in the United States? You can't study abroad on your own. Not unless you are some kind of wunderkind who has already amassed a ton of wealth (like some people have an online business or some source of income that doesn't require them to be present).Depending on your standard of living, you will be paying for a great deal of small things everyday; these things will add upThere will be emergencies (you have an allergic reaction, you get stranded in the middle of town, there's an amazing opportunity you want to take advantage of, you need to replace your laptop, etc) and emergencies cost money. You need a buffer to be able to afford those unforeseen eventsIt took years (and possibly over many generations) for our parents to generate the wealth they need to send some of us to school; it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to climb to the same standard of living as they have in the space of a few months, especially since you are studying (your full time job is "student"; your 40 hours/week are in class and assignments) Scholarships and grants are for your tuition bill; there are other aspects to think aboutHousingAmenities GroceriesBooks and other study materials (laptops, bags, pens and notebooks) Leisures (Internet, Uber, Spotify, etc)Clothes TravelEveryday expensesI dont say say this to discourage you but to make you see the reality of what it means to come abroad to study. At best, I can hope to earn enough through part time jobs to at least pay for my own food, groceries, and leisures. But I know that no matter how hard I try I'd probably never be able to afford all of my schooling by coming out here and "hitting the ground running" by getting a part time job. There's just no way that I'd earn enough fast enough.
