Will the Lexus GS 300 become a collectors vehicle?
Short answer: No. People believe that because a car becomes old it’s automatically a classic or a collector’s item, such statement is wrong.A car becomes a collectible item mostly upon its significance for the automotive world. The GS300 has no significance aside it’s marvelous reliability. Thousands upon thousands were produced, it’s not a performance vehicle, nor exotic or special.A good example of how a car becomes a collectible is the Mercedes Benz 190E 2.3 Cosworth Evo. While not that old, it’s production was very limited, it was a high performance homologation special, raced successfully alongside the E30 M3 (another new collectible) in DTM and other categories, etc etc.While no one denies their great quality, it’s no Toyota GT2000,Supra or Celica Carlos Sainz edition. In fact, aside from he LFA, I don’t see any Lexus becoming a collector’s item any time soon.
How much will it cost to supercharge a Lexus GS F?
To do it right, parts will be anywhere between 7–9 thousand. The other important aspect is to find a good tuner to do this for you and Calibrate your engine to prevent reliability problems. Basic parts will likely be the supercharger, intercooler, pulley/ tensioner system, newly fabricated tubing, and an ECU tune. Labor will likely add 1,500 to 2,000 to the overall cost.The only reputable tuner I have seen that can do all of this and has a SC kit engineered solely for the GS-F is RR Racing. I would definitely look them up and research. They have tested very thoroughly and made proper changes to the tune to take on a supercharger. They say they get 670 hp to the crank with the sc with no issues on reliability. I would also only have them do the install unless they recommend someone remotely closer to you.I got their tune some time ago and it works very well. It’s not a supercharger (but I am interested) but it is a noticeable different in power, and woke up my Lexus!Best of luck, and hope this helps!
