Okay, first off I know this is an old question but there is so much incorrect information on it and it bothers me. I have applied for 4 UK settlement visas. (I was denied for the initial one because we misunderstood the monetary requirement, I applied a few months later and was approved! I have applied for all of my visas myself, no lawyers or other paid help.)Depending on where you are applying from and what visa you are applying for (neither of which are included in the question) makes your question difficult to answer.Basically, no there is no way to find out where your application is in the visa process. The process seems needlessly opaque. They have an email and phone number you can call, but they both cost money and it's a waste because you are reaching a call centre that has no access to your application who mostly dispenses incorrect advice and wrong status updates. They charge in GBP at more than a pound a minute or about £5 for the email.UKVI time scales are business days. For the US their aim is to process a settlement visa in 60 business days, which is 12 weeks from your receipt of the first email from them that your application has been received. During busy times it can be weeks after your application shows it arrived at UKVI through your package tracking. It's a process that's nerve wracking, the worst time to apply is May-August as that's when everyone and their brother applies ahead of the next school year.You can only apply 3 months before your requested travel date, and your visa can take more than 60 business days to process from when you receive that email. Means your documents has been dispatched to the VFS office, go and collect. Open the parcel and check your passport, if passport has any Visa seal followed by a grant letter from high commission means you got your visa or else you would get a visa rejection letter.
