How Would You Define The Tea Party

What is the Tea Party?

The Tea Party is a grassroots movement based on people being tired of paying too much in taxes. It started with people communicating online, and gathering together to peacefully protest taxes. The name is base don the Boston Tea Party, a pivotal moment in American history, and TEA = Taxed Enough Already. Basically, people are tired of out of control government spending, and the average American shouldering the bill for a lot of nonsense. tea Party people assemble legally, and peacefully, are calm and courteous, patriotic, and leave the areas where they gather cleaner than when they leave. They don't make threats, they don't break the law or get arrested, and they don't promote violence. They look to support candidates that understand the Constitution, and that the government is far too large, and out of control. Tea party people seek to educate the public, and to address the issues by voting in the right people, and voting out the ones that are part of the problem. People from all walks of life are involved, and there is video all over YouTube showing this. Diverse speakers, and totally peaceful, lawful protests. it is not racist, and it is not sponsored by some corporation. Those are lies told to alienate people from the group, and to promote class and race warfare. Tea Party people are the sort you would want for neighbors.

It's all a far cry from the fiasco on Wall Street these days.

Edit to add - This movement started in the early Obama days, NOT at the end of the Bush administration. First meetings were the first tax day in 2009.

Why do you hate the TEA Party?

people often hate the bailouts. i think of of it replace into between the few stable subjects Bush did. i'm chuffed bearing directly to the motorized automobile bailouts he did additionally. perhaps historic previous makes a determination TARP replace into the incorrect project to do. yet i'll grant GWB a thumbs up for it till at last i be attentive to greater desirable suitable. It shows up on Obama's income spite of the fact that, in spite of bush signing it. (factor of the appropriate's consistent fake talking ingredient, approximately obama tripling the deficit)

In the US there are two major political parties.  But, there are many smaller parties including the Tea Party (although it is made up of many organizations and individuals who align with their beliefs).  The policy position most associated with the Tea Party is that the government (primarily the Federal Government) has grown far too large and this threatens the freedom, individualism and self-reliance that has made America great.  Of the two major parties, the Republican party shares, to a greater extent, this view of the size of government.  So, in general elections, Tea Party supporters almost always will vote for the Republican over the Democrat. But, in the primary elections, where a candidate is being selected to oppose a Democrat, the differences between the Tea Party and the Republican Party are often large.  The Tea Party candidate is often more prone to viewing the problem of large government as critical and worth extreme actions.  The Republican Party candidates are often more focused on making progress by compromising to some degree with the Democratic Party.  The Tea Party is often portrayed as being a party of racists and crazy people, but this is largely liberal propaganda.  Certainly, racists and crazy people can be found in the Tea Party ranks, but by and large its members are normal citizens who share a belief that, as was clearly stated in the Constitution, the power of the Federal Government should be strictly limited.

It will be an integral part of the Republican party for the near future.  If the GOP is smart they should use the Tea Party to move themselves away from the need for support from strict religious conservatives who are a long term drain on the party.  Even though one sees a lot of foolishness from Tea Party people, such as badly spelled signs, racist imagery etc., the core idea of the Tea Party isn't religious and could be updated to fit a younger demographic. Unfortunately GOP insiders are able to coopt the Tea Party and use it for short term goals.

Why do you support the Tea Party?

Because you are very misinformed ,,,the tea party has nothing to do with religion.
Can any of you people read? Especially steven.
Please educate yourself before having children.

The Tea Party movement is a grassroots movement of millions of like-minded Americans from all backgrounds and political parties. Tea Party members share similar core principles supporting the United States Constitution as the Founders intended, such as:
• Limited federal government
• Individual freedoms
• Personal responsibility
• Free markets
• Returning political power to the states and the people

As a movement, The Tea Party is not a political party nor is looking to form a third political party any time soon. The Tea Party movement, is instead, about reforming all political parties and government so that the core principles of our Founding Fathers become, once again, the foundation upon which America stands.

Tea party ideas please?

You're dead wrong. The Tea Party is a single issue coalition of parties: responsible fiscal practices. It has no opinion on gun rights, theocracy, immigration, social issues, etc. Anyone trying to tell you otherwise does not speak on the behalf of the majority of tea party members. They may speak on behalf of another party, but by definition, the tea part does not have positions on any of the things you mentioned. Of course, making assumptions about a group of people because they have one or two similarities to one example would be the basic definition of prejudice and the same foundation on which racism its built. So, congratulations on that: you apparently have more in common with the KKK than the Tea Party does. _____________ Not the one spinning here. Of course, if you'd like to dispute any of the points I made instead of making a bunch of unsupported generalizations, I'll take you on issue by issue...and you'll lose. I've got reality in my corner.

I am not sure if the Tea Party know what it's about. It seems to be fragmenting. The official stance is that they want lower taxes but that is not what they've been about at a local and national level. In my area, they support vouchers for parochial schools. They are rabidly anti union. They Are a big part of the for profit charter/ privatize education movement. This essentially is a business endeavor that socializes the risk and privatized the profit. They Are vocally anti Muslim. Many assert that Christians religious freedom is being encroached on, and when it's pointed out that freedom of religion does not mean freedom from criticism, they assert that the united states is a Christian country, and that the constitution is based on the bible despite the fact that this claim is completely absent from the constitution.    The Tea Party is a repeat of similar movements in history. If is it to have staying power, it's got to accept that it will be subject to criticism just like any other political movements.  It also has to realize that being uncompromising is not sustainable.

Calling Britain (probably the least socialist country in the EU) a socialist country is nearly as accurate as calling the USA a fascist state. Both are wide of the mark.As for the "Fixing", are you aware that one of the uses of this term is to describe the act of neutering a pet? Do you still want to fix the UK?It all depends on what you want to repair. If you want to repair the UK internal economy, there will be one set of answers. If you want to improve the NHS there will be another set, and if you want to improve the export trade figures there will be a third. These sets of answers are almost always mutually exclusive, so probably the best thing to do would be to let us continue to muddle along from catastrophe to disaster and back again by way of crisis! And besides, we enjoy it, life would be so boring with a little crisis now and again, and again, and again. Our system may be boring, but people rarely actually shoot a Prime Minister. Many of us consider that this is a bad thing, it might keep them a bit more honest with respect to keeping their promises!

Kicked out of Tea Party rally? Why?!?

As a liberal black man, I thought I would attend a Tea Party this week just out of curiosity. So, to fit in, I put on my leather jacket with confederate flag on back and made up a sign saying, "Obama is a Kenyan communist". After 5 minutes at the rally I was approached by a group of older white men. One of them looked me up and down and told me I should probably leave the event. I loudly asked 'WHY?' since just like them I am concerned about Obama's fiscal responsibility. 'Just go before you get hurt' the man said. So I turned around to leave and I heard on of the men mumble, 'Aint no 'N words' allowed here' and I heard several of them murmur with approval
