Hows My Vocals Recording

How can I hear my voice in real time while recording vocals on my laptop?

You don’t have to have in ear monitors (by the way, when recording, headphones are generally used, IEMs are mostly used for live performance), but you will need headphones, earphones or even just your regular in ear buds. This is to prevent the playback from being recorded back into the mic.Unlike what most people say here, you actually don’t need an external audio interface to be able to monitor yourself. Having said that, I’ll assume you probably have one anyway, but whether you have one or not doesn’t matter. Most DAWs have a switch that enables you to hear yourself as you play back. No this is not the one on the external interface. For example, in REAPER, which I use, you can enable monitoring by right clicking the arm (enable recording) button and selecting “Enable Monitoring”. This enables you to hear whatever the software will record on that track. This way, you can hear yourself as you track.Google “how to enable monitoring in ” or “how to enable input monitoring for ” and you’ll get some instructions for the software you’re using.

Adobe Soundbooth CS5: How do I record vocals while having the track play at the same time?

Unfortunately, that's not an option with SoundBooth (I've tried many times but never could simply)...that's why there's the less cheap Adobe Audition. This one can do multi-track and live recording. You could try Ableton's Live, Cool Edit (the old Audition before Adobe bought it), Cubase...or you could send the track to hear to another player (save as wav or mp3...wav is better (no begin delay)) like window media player, then once the 2nd track is recorded in soundbooth, bring back the other one and mix it...but that's a cheap way of doing things. Just make sure that the audio is coming out from headphones as you don't want to record the track and the vocal at the same time since the volumes will be all weird and you wont be able to control them separately...

Good luck!

After recording garageband makes my vocals off beat, any ideas as to how to resolve this issue?

I have a bluebird blue mic running into a USB Dual Art Preamp, into my mac desktop. I'm currently recording vocals onto garageband, but I've been finding lately that after I stop a recording, it moves the vocals slightly making them off beat. I'm wondering if there's a setting on my garageband which is causing this, or is my interface to basic for the microphone? any help would be greatly appreciated. (I already have the garageband setting under minimize latency time, or whatever it is.)

How can I make a high-quality voice recording with my laptop?

I use a Lenovo T420 laptop with Windows 10It’ll be more complicated if you want an on-body microphone while you’re demonstrating physical activities; most people use wireless lavaliere mics which can be expensive. However, if you intend to overdub voice commentary in post production, then an inexpensive USB microphone will do the job adequately.Let us know which “old microphone” you have if you want to make use of it.Audacity is a popular free software and more than adequate.

How do you record a good vocal cover to post on youtube?

I love to sing but i don't play any instruments and I want to get my voice out there. So how can I use instrumental versions of songs they have on youtube and stuff (like for karaoke) to make a good cover of the songs i want to do. I have a mic but i dont have a webcam but i wouldn't think that'd matter. Ive tried using just a mic but the music isn't loud enough my voice overpowers it

How can I record my voice without any noise?

If you are not recording in studio then there is a very less likelihood that you would be able to record without noise. Further noise cancelling mics are not very effective.. However there are several post production tricks that will help you remove noise.Nowadays all good sound editors come with tool called as noise removal. For example audacity has a noise reduction tool which will help you remove the background noise after the recording is done. In that - a noise profile has to be selected from the area of the recording without vocals and applied over the full recording with voice. This tool then removes the noise frequencies from the entire spectrum leaving your vocals intact along with being clear and crisp. .However the downfall to this process is that a few artefacts get added due to removal of sound data.. hence this process has to be done very carefully. From my experience adobe audition has the best protocol for noise reduction followed very close by edison which is a native FL Studio plugin..Hope this answers your question all the best.

How do i record my voice on iMovie?

You can use your Mac's voice recording program (if you have one) to create a wav or mp3 file with your voice part, and then, drop that on the imovie timeline where you want it, etc. The method I use is to use an outboard recording device to record the vocal part, then transfer the file to the mac and drop it on the imovie timeline. Firewire connectivity is best for transferring outboard recorders to the Mac. All professional applications use Firewire. Here is a video I found on Youtube showing you how to do it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEyU9a4vX...

Also, I'm really sorry to use this question to answer a different question you asked, but the other question has already been resolved so I can't edit my answer and I can't email you. You asked about a movie with nine people being held hostage and killed unless they figure out their connection. I answered that I thought it was either House of 9 or The Killing Room, but neither of those are correct. The correct movie is...

Nine Dead (2010): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0959329/

Summary:
"Communication is the key to the survival for nine strangers who have been kidnapped by a masked gunman and told that one of them will die every ten minutes until they discover how they are all connected. Who of the nine lives and who dies?"

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avVjiqRKk...

Again, I'm really sorry to do it this way, but I received Best Answer for the wrong answer and wanted to figure out a way to actually earn the points I received for it - lol!

I recorded my voice on iphone voice memo. Is that actually how I sound?

No its definitely NOT! :) The only way to really hear your true sound... Is if you record with a bit more professional tool then the iPhone and it's built in mic... Especially if your singing... But there's an other really simple way... Just cup your ears or put two folders in front of your ears... If anyone who thinks people spend thousands of dollars for quality mics, if you could just hear the real deal with an iPhone... You're just dumb... So No! That's not how you sound... Oh and if you don't believe it... Then listen to someone who you know well and compare it to what he/she recorded.... You'll hear that it's more distorted and unpleasant and kinda robotic... That by the way is because these mics can't pic up your true resonance.... They usually add it later as an effect in studios... It's called reverb or delay depends what you like to use... It's best to only use a minimum amount but that's what makes you sound more natural, then robotic... Hope that helped... :)

How do I record my voice on Garage Band?

It's possible. You may need to change the input so that it's pointing toward the built-in microphone. Also, make sure you've added a new voice track and that you have recording enabled (click the recording symbol on the track itself) before you press the master record button. I never changed the settings from the defaults and haven't had any problems on my MacBook Pro, so I know it should work.

How do I stop hating my how my voice sounds when recorded?

By realizing the voice you hear on the recording is the same voice that everyone else has heard as “you,” forever. The voice you hear on the recording, again, is the voice that the World hears. The reason for this is that you are getting sound from inside your head as well as out of your mouth. The internal vibrations of the air moving through your throat and the vocal cords add some sound to the sound of your voice coming out of your mouth, so you perceive both sounds mixed together. So, you are the only one hearing your voice like that.Everyone else hears your voice as it is recorded. Don’t hate on it! It’s the only, real, voice you have!
