Hsc English Questions Essay

Need help starting an essay about self discovery?

Begin the essay by introducing what you are going to be talking about and why it is important. Your thesis statement is "Life is a lesson in discovery and literature provides us with a vehicle to explore life's experiences"

so try something like tthis:

say what the essay will talk about:
'This essay will discuss the writings of Robert Frost, (and whoever else) and the potential influence literature has on how a person views themselves. (make a statement here about why this might be important)

Make a statement that basically says the same thing as your thesis statement, but expand it a a little bit.

Then say what you are trying to show and how you will prove your thesis statement:

This essay will show that literature assists us in exploring ourselves by doing abc .....(i dont know your topic well so you will have to fill in the blanks yourself)

the final part of your intro should give a quick outline of the remainder of the essay:

eg: The essay will begin by discussing and comparing the works of blah blah blah, it will look at the influences of other media on ....... It will also examine ...... and how that has motivated people in history to blah blahblah.

It is really important that you write the intro in your own words though, any good teacher will spot even part of an essay written by someone else a mile away. everyone has a different writing style.

Can someone please provide me with an essay question for the Great Gatsby?

I have an English exam tomorrow. We have to write an analytical essay in response to an unseen question about the discourses/themes in the Great Gatsby. I would really appreciate it if someone could give me a really good practice question (HSC, GSCE, VCE, IGCSE, A-level type) so I can have a go at a practice essay before tomorrow. The practice question should be about something you can analyse and provide a strong argument/thesis for. Our teacher told us to concentrate on the themes of gender, power and class.

So yeah, I would really like a good solid essay question that involves the themes of Gender, Power & Class (at least two of these) in relation to The Great Gatsby, please.

Thanks in advance. :)

Is it possible to score 90+ marks in English in 12th HSC Board, Science Stream?

The people who are saying, "I scored 95" all belong to ICSE/CBSE Board. I don't even know why these folks are answering this question for HSC.Scoring 90+ in HSC Board Exams is super tough. Scoring 90+ in SSC Board Exams is equally tough. Not because State Board students are dumb, but because State Board doesn't give marks that easy. The checking of State Board is very difficult compared to CBSE/ICSE Board. But, hey! I did score 90+ in SSC and 85+ in HSC.Here's my English score :SSC - 93HSC - 86Again, SSC and HSC cannot be compared. Because, in SSC all we do is prepare for Boards all year. But, in HSC we have to prepare for various entrance exams which makes it almost impossible to study for English. Scoring 90+ in English in state Board in super though. I was the only person in my school who did it that year. Here are the tips to get 90+ in English :Be perfect with grammar. You should never loose marks in grammar questions.Be selective about writing skills. You should choose those writing skills options which are easier to score in.Try to give an elaborate answer in the personal response type questions. While writing speeches/ expansions be sure to use phrases, idioms, anything that can make your language rich. Also, you must read the textbooks well.P.S. - Scoring 90+ isn't impossible, but definitely tough. It's not about memory, it's about your conceptual clarity.Hope this helps !Cheers! :)

HSC subject selection?

Hey,
I am soon going to be selecting my subjects for my HSC. This is what i have so far:

Advanced English
Maths 2unit
Physics
Chemistry
Economics
P.E

That leaves me with 2 units to go. I don't have a particular career I wish to follow, but I am interested in the sports/science field. I'm trying to keep my options open. I would like to achieve a UAI of 90+ and try to minimize it to around the 75's.

So my questions are, is economics as hard a people claim it to be. I have a few friends telling me that economics is THE hardest test you'll do but it scales well. Perhaps should i opt for business studies, because I am aiming for 1 subject in the business area.

If I choose to go in the sporting scientist direction, will I need biology?

Is engineering studies a good subject?

I am in the higher classes in my year for all of my subjects. I don't seem to struggle in any of the classes and generally do well. I want to hopefully stick with these subjects throughout Year 11-12. I want to know which subjects scale well and which scale bad.

I'm open to all suggestions on any subjects

Any information regarding HSC/Subjects/Scaling/ UAI is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance
