I Am Adopted And I Took A Genetics Test

Is there a genetics test to find out your heritage?

Hello! I know from my mom that I'm part Danish, but because my father was adopted and his adopted parents have no idea who his biological parents were, I have no idea what I am on that side. I'm super interested to be able to know exactly what I am, as far as Danish, German, English, etc. so is there a genetic test or dan test you can take to find this out? Thanks!

Should you take an ancestry test if you re adopted?

I m adopted, and neither I or my parents have any idea who my birth parents were, so I have no idea what my ancestry was. Some people say I look latina or Asian, but I don t really have any clue. Should I take an ancestry test? They seem to be pretty pricey, and I m worried my parents would tell me it s a waste of money. I hate it when people ask me what I am, because I have no clue. And I don t know if an ancestry test is going to do anything in terms of finding my biological parents, because I wouldn t know where to start looking, we don t even know which hospital I was born in. Would it be worth it to take an ancestry test?

My adult friend took a genetic test and has found out who her biological father is. She is unsure if she actually wants to meet him. What are some of the benefits of connecting with a biological parent after so many years apart?

A similar situation happened to me. I submitted my DNA to ancestry to see where my ancestors were from. Part of the service was you can see any other DNA matches from those on the site. The first match I see was a “parent/child” match. It obviously was not one of my parents or my daughter who was one year's old at the time. Come to find out, when i was in college a girl I had a one night stand with had a child and put the baby up for adoption.I was happy to meet the child, but was sad I hadn't known about her for 13 years and even a bit upset her mother was able to put her up for adoption without getting into contact with me. I would have gladly raised her with no questions asked if it was a choice between putting her up for adoption. We have a very good relationship and speak every other day. She lives about 20 miles from me, so we see each other monthly and I can go watch her atheletic activities. To answer your question, the pros and cons depend on the situation around the estrangement. In my case, it was very positive because I did not know about her and she knew that. However, if the parent knew about the child and consciously stayed away I could see some raw feeling in the short term and even in the long term if they were not treated properly during their upbringing.

Genetic testing during pregnancy?

i am closley related to at least 3 people with down syndrome and 1 with cedribral palsey. to insure that my child is going to be healthy i want to her him/her tested for every genetic disease and chromosomal mutation possible DURING my pregnancy so that if my child is going to be sick i can get an adoption plan ready so i dont get attatched to the baby

1.how accurate are the tests?

2.how are they preformed?

How often are adoptive/foster parents tested for drug usage or abuse?

Although I agree that there are some people that shouldn't give birth....It is a God given right.....Accept it Raven. Be a good christian.

As far a Paps feeling like criminals....Too bad. Change your perspective and think of the children.
If one child can be prevented from being placed in the home of strangers that are criminals. Tests should be mandatory since fostering/adopting is a Privilege and not a Right. I wish more Paps could comprehend this and get over whatever it is that making them sit in self pity.
