I Am Getting Married And Having A Very Small Wedding But Parents Are Divorced

What is typically expected etiquette for having a second wedding?

I am old fashioned in this and wish true old fashioned and ELEGANT manners were not so vilified as they are...

I also have been divorced and at age 53, I remarried...happily so. Still happy, BTW.

My first wedding at age 20 back in 1974 was a big white church wedding. brides maids....flowers..formal sit down reception in the banquet hall of an upscale restaurant after an elaborate cocktail hour....open bar...live band.Professional photographer..limos ( I & the groom rode in a 1932 silver gray Auburn Touring Car, fully restored. 125 invited. 120 attended. Parents payed.

Second wedding. Simple, small & understated. Hubby & I payed. No bridal shower, no bachelor/bacherlotte parties/ rehearsal not needed. I wore a three piece formal lined & beaded chiffon pants suit in garnet red...The Hubby wore a dark charcoal gray business suit. Officiated by town judge res pendant in his black robes....all of us (totalled 20) assembled inside a huge white victorian gazebo on the beautifully manicured grounds of town hall. Small cold buffet luncheon for wedding guests at my sister's beautifully decorated home (on 3 manicured acres I may add)
perfect for a second go at marriage for two divorced middle aged people.

We're married, but never had a wedding, is it too late?

I don't think it's too late.. I too had a courthouse wedding and we've been married for almost 9yrs.. I would love to have a big beautiful wedding wit lots of flowers.. I wanna have ppl makin a fuss over me..lol.. but hopefully one day u and ur husband will be able to save up enough money to have a nice wedding. It's funny cause I was tol the same thing. but when u dream about getting married who ever say i wanna get married at the local courthouse.. um, nobody.. some ppl jus can't afford to have the wedding of their dreams. But i feel you, i hope that u get to experience that.. I think every bride & groom should have the wedding of their dreams.. Good Luck

I am getting married; can I have more than one person give me away?

Both parents walked our daughter down the aisle and both parents escorted the son-in-law down the aisle. Why not walk down the aisle between your father and grandfather, and your uncle walks behind. Or have your father escort you and both the uncle and grandfather walk behind.
