Is an Apple iPhone clone worth buying?

It depends on what you want in a phone. In years past I would have easily said, “Yes.”, but with all of the complications that I have had these past few weeks with Apple CS….it’s personally not worth $700 and be locked out of my account….even though I can provide credit cards, state I.S., credit cards, I picture of my happy face, social security cards. My addresses, my buying history, answers to all of my secret questions, they won’t budge. Treating a customer as a criminal isn’t cool and not worth the money. This is where I am at, as you can see, short of knocking Tim Cook’s door or taking a vacation so I can find an Apple store…every reasonable thing to do a simple PW recovery for my account.I will probably get the Google phone because it ties into “Google Photos”. I can’t even access my pictures…..when I HAVE PAYED FOR STORAGE….with Google Pixel, my media is stored for free and if my account has troubles…recovery has never been an issue with Google. With the Apple Iphone’s getting (seemingly) more expensive….you would think that their CS would scale and be stress-free, that’s just not the case. When you pay your $1,000 for your iPhone X and can’t access your pictures….ask yourself if you should have purchased the iPhone.

I'm visiting Dubai for a week as a tourist. Which SIM card should I buy if my main need is internet access?

Hi there.Welcome to Dubai. There are two network carriers in the UAE; Du and Etisalat. It is said that Du has a better overall service but Etisalat has more network coverage area.Since you are here for just one week so it doesn’t matter much which one you buy. Each carrier offers different calling and data pack packages. Have a look at the links below.International Calling:Etisalat: International Calling OfferDu: International Calls Savings Offer | duMobile Data Packs:Etisalat: Prepaid Mobile Data PlansDu: Data Packs & Packages | duInformation for activation is provided under the same links. If you want to use the internet just for navigation and social etc. then you can go for Etisalat’s One Week Packs (7 Days Validity) and under there for 1GB pack. This will cost you AED 50.Combo Packs:Combo packs offer data + flexible calling minutes. Flexible minutes means you can call both locally and internationally.Etisalat: http://www.etisalat.ae/nrd/en/ge...The smallest monthly combo pack from Etisalat offers 100MB data, 1GB social data (Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, LinkedIn) and 60 flexi minutes for just AED 40.Du: Extra Social - Prepaid Plans | duDu also has similar offers. So in the end you have a lot of options with both carriers to choose from. As said earlier it doesn’t matter much for you which carrier to go for as both offer similar deals. Its however important to chose the right data package. I would recommend to go for a combo pack.

What is the cost of living in Dubai?

Unlike most, I wont brag about Dubai’s luxury instead I will get straight to the point by explaining the cost. Your question is very general, but I will try my best to answer it. Now, cost of living in Dubai varies, but for the ease of understanding I will break down the cost into three different classes with earnings.Low class: A person who earns between Dhs 2000–6000 a month, either shares a room for Dhs1000 or pays Dhs 3500 for a studio in rare cases. Drives a Toyota or Honda and is not able to save anything out of salary as whole of it goes in covering necessary expenses like rent, transportation, food, internet and phone bills etc. In this category you’ll find most expats to be Filipinos, Pakistanis, Indians, Bengladeshi, Sri Lankans, Egyptians and many others.Middle class: earns between Dhs 7000–30,000 a month. Lives in his/her own condo, is able to save money after deducting all necessary expenses. Drives a four wheel, Lexus or even a German in some cases. Also, the cheapest studio in Dubai rents for about 3500–5000 /m.If a person can afford that and is still able to save then he or she’s in middle class. This categories is predominantly filled with Indians, Western Arabs, Europeans, Americans, Emiratis and in some rare cases Pakistanis too. Also, people in this category get benefits.Upper class: earns between 35,000–3,00,000. Either lives in a condo in Marina or in villa in Jumeirah. Drives Germen, is able to pay rent between 15,000 to 30,000 monthly. Lives the same life as describe as how Dubai is described on TV. You’ll only find, Indians, Emiratis, Western Arabs and Westerners in this category. These three categories will give you a general idea of earnings and the type of lifestyle a you can afford with it. Now, most sources won't tell you this, but if you ask from anyone who is able to give a realistic answer will agree with my explanation. Not many people will tell you this story instead they will talk mostly about the glit and glamor.Edit (09/02/2018): Thank you for all the upvotes and comments. I haven’t been to the UAE in two years so I’m assuming the cost of living has probably increased especially with the arrival of VAT this year.

If I take an Airtel sim from India then will it work in Dubai?

I am not sure exactly about Airtel. But here is what happened with my Tata Docomo sim card. When I landed in Dubai with my Tata Docomo sim, it immediately came on International roaming. Now since Tata doesn’t have services in Dubai, the tower which was connected was Etisalat.I got regular messages welcoming me to Dubai and informing me about the costs of Incoming/outgoing calls and SMS.I kept the service on for couple of days. Later I got a new local number. When I landed back in India and inserted my Tata docomo sim card, my entire existing balance was gone. I had more than Rs. 500 balance. So before you keep your India sim on in any International location, make sure you ask the service provider to activate International roaming services. You will have to pay a small amount in some cases for keeping International roaming services on. However the normal costs of Incoming/outgoing calls & messages apply but they’re not extreme.Hope this helps! :)

Is the iPhone X available in Dubai at the present? Can I get one to India? What is its cost?

Hello. I don’t know about the current availability but I would like to share that I bought my iPhone X from Dubai only.I am a very big fan of Apple iPhone. Luckily the day of the launch of the iPhone X I was in Dubai. I went to the Apple store Located at the mall of the emirates on the day of launch at 4 AM in the morning. I encountered a line of a approx 500 people ahead of me. I was very much unsure that I will get a phone from that line. But I kept on waiting and at 9 AM I was confirmed to get an iPhone X .I loved the support of the apple staff. At 5 am as well, they were fresh and energetic to thank us for waiting with a smile. The crowd also was very supoortive and almost none of problem occured. Being an Indian, it was new for me. Although they had employed many bouncers who would not let you live happily in your dreams if you make a mistake. Now lets come to the cost. The Apple iPhone X 64 GB space gray version was in my hand. I was charged 4099 AED Which tends to be 73.5k INR. I also encountered taxi charges approx 2k INR and total cost came approx 75k.Outside the store, there were many people wanting to buy ny piece of device. They offered me as much as twice the cost but I denied. That encounter saved me a lot of bucks as the price in India is 89k. Also, its still not available here yet.P.S. Images for represntation purpose only.

Can we buy gold from Dubai Airport Terminal 3?

Simple Answer is YES…!There is no issue to buy any type of jewellery at the Dubai T3 (or Dubai Duty Free). You will get the best of the designs at the pretty awesome price. You can buy as much as you want… totally depend on you as there is no problem at all at the airport at the time of purchase.Problem arise, only when you visit back to your own country.See, when you come back to your own country, you are entitled with Gold Import Norms of the Arriving country. If you take example of India, even bringing 1gm of gold need to be paid duty at the rate of 38.1% as gold is one of the prohibited items to import. So are the regulations in other countries as well. Please check your own country’s norms before buying as you will have issue while bring it into your country.Usually people buy chain or bracelet and wear them in hand as checking is being done of the luggage only at the arrival and not of the person’s frisking until he is wearing too much of gold or too many of the phones in his hand.Ladies do wear gold set, bangles and other ornaments and wear them while coming back at the arrival so that they need not to give any kind of declaration. but again.. too much is always too much. so take care and think wisely before buying gold at anywhere in this world… not just at Dubai airport.
