I Am In 9th Grade And Im One Of Those People Who Plans Ahead A Lot. Should I Be Preparing For

So, what would i do to see about skipping 9th grade?

Talk to your guidance counselor. They should know and be able to help you out.

Edit: Counselors can help you a lot. I've been to the counselor a few times, and they have been able to help me with getting extra credits and such. Also, be forewarned that grade 10 is more demanding than that of grade 8. Also, the math (depending what level you take if you school allows is. Mine has choices of either: Pre-calculus, Applied Math, or Consumer Math) and other subjects follow up on what you learn from grade 9. You would be missing out on a lot of stuff and have confusion. One way would be to study all the subjects that you would in grade 9, obtain all the credits through a challenge exam maybe and then skip onto grade 10 work. But i'll tell you this through experience: even if you take the exams, good look studying all that in the time you have to challenge it! I was the FIRST in the history of my whole school to challenge a subject (grade 10 science) for a credit. It was kind of too much studying, and I thought to myself it's better learning the whole process and getting more details. So I decided not to take the challenge, that way I learn. Also, it depends on what you think is best for yourself.

What is a great way to prepare for MIT? I am in 9th grade and live in the US.

There are perhaps three things that you should do to prepare for MIT.Stay ahead in your classes. Always pay attention in class. Stay ahead in your homework. Take every class seriously. Be respectful to your teachers and classmates. In math, try to understand the concepts and definitely do not just memorize. Do not jump ahead in math, you want to fully understand each course.Participate in the extracurricular activities that you want to participate in. Do well in them. Understand that leadership is about helping others to be better, and specifically leadership is not about bossing other people around. Most importantly, understand that there are a lot of very good universities in the US as well as in other countries. You do not need to go to MIT to do well in life. There is nothing that MIT is going to teach you as an undergrad that you couldn’t have learned from your in-state public university. Think about what you want in a university. How much do you intend to work when you are at university? Do you want to go from being the top student in your high school to a below average student in university? Do you want a big school or a small one? Do you want to be in a city, small town, or would you rather study at a rural school? For some students MIT is a great fit. Most academically strong students would be better off elsewhere. Probably nearly all academically average or below average students would be better off elsewhere. Find a college or university that is a good fit for you.

8th Grade Schedule?! Help Choosing Courses?

I would recommend taking the more challenging classes:

Algebra 1
Physical Science
Language Arts
Social Studies (Seminar)

And here's why. Four years from now, you'll be applying to colleges. And the colleges will be looking not only at your grades, but at the type of classes you took in high school. They want students who have challenged themselves with the most difficult courses their school offers... the honors and AP classes. They understand that those classes are harder, and they take that into consideration: they'd much rather see a few Bs in harder classes, than straight As in regular classes. So once you start high school, you'll want to take as many honors and AP classes as you can handle.

Now, colleges won't be looking at your grades and classes from middle school. However, taking these harder classes in 8th grade will prepare you for the more difficult ones you'll take in high school. This will also give you a chance to see how well you can handle a full load of advanced classes... sort of a test run. If you do well in them, you'll be comfortable taking the harder classes in high school. But if it turns out to be too much and your grades aren't so great, you'll know to cut back a bit... and since colleges won't see your grades from 8th grade, it won't matter if they aren't all As!

My daughter is a cheerleader, too, and also a gymnast and track athlete. She took all the hardest classes all through middle school and high school, and she was able to handle it. It was a lot of work, and there were times when she didn't get much sleep, but it definitely paid off... she's been accepted to some really great colleges! She plans to study pre-med, and cheer in college!

Good luck!

Is it hard to get into community theatre with no experience?

I don't know whereabouts your community is, but some communities have websites that list upcoming shows, audtion times, what to prepare for your audition, and all that jazz. madstage.com is one site, but it won't be much help to someone outside of Madison. You can probably Google to find one for your community.

Is it hard to get in? Not really, it all depends on what show it is, the ages of the characters, and how many other people audition. I'd recommend starting with musicals, because even if you only get a part in the chorus, it's something to put on your resume, right?

Usually rehearsals are in the evening (after most people are done with school or work.) The first couple weeks you might only have to come to 2 or 3 rehearsals, but be prepared for the week before opening weekend, because you will probably have rehearsal every night until fairly late.

It's a lot of fun, though!

I am preparing for competitive exams, but for the past few days I have not been able to concentrate on studying and when I force myself I feel exhausted. When I start studying my mind wanders a lot. I'm in a 'do or die' situation as I have to clear those exams, but I am wasting my precious time. What should I do?

Thank you for this detail question description. The same things occur with every aspirants. They all do the same for fighting it off. But, what actually makes a difference is their unstoppable efforts to work onto the same.Fear, anxiety and pressure like things are very common in the struggle of clearing any competitive examination. Around millions are giving and thousands will be selected. Tough.Nothing except for going along and studying is the way to fight this.If you ask Google it has techniques like meditation and etc. If you start meditating with such kind of chaos in your mind then, you'll feel more low as you will depend upon meditation. Proper mediation gives result in and after 3–4 months of practice and till that time you don't have so much patience. Accept it. So it cannot help.As I said earlier, walking through the same. Studying is the way only.Hormones may play with you sometimes. Let it. But do remember when the game ends, you should be the winner.Don't feel low and stressful.Believe in your efforts, the results will walk to you as it is meant to be.Few things I personally practice to get rid of such things is:Yoga. Preferably, kapalbhati pranayama for 10 minutes daily. You can see the effects of the same on the internet.Weekly dopamine, serotonin and endomorphin doses. In my case I like to eat, so I prefer eating tasty and healthy food every week to keep myself happy.Build up the habit of patience. Slowly everything fades off and I'm again back on track.Discuss the issues with one close friend and with family. I said discuss, don't expect solutions. It will help. Finally, be passionate and keep reminding yourself, your 'why' for this journey. All the best!Thank you!Binoy Roy
