What are the best restaurants to try when visiting Vienna, Austria? What should you try while you're there?

Under the assumption that you want to sample Viennese and Austrian cuisine, you should try the following:There are a lot of pubs in Vienna where you can get some fine classic Austrian dishes. Pubs are called “Beisl” in Vienna, unfortunately you won’t find that word in the name very often. Better look for “Bräu”, which is “brewery”, where you also can sample good beers. Here is a list of restaurants from the top of my head that are typical Beisl: Siebensternbräu (try the Hanfbier = hemp beer), Plutzer Bräu, Fischer Bräu, Gösser Bierklinik, Steirische Botschaft, Krah Krah, Bermuda Bräu, Jonathan & Sieglinde.Try a Rindsgulasch or better Fiakergulasch, Wiener Schnitzel, Blunzengröstl (roasted potatoes with blood saussage), Specklinsen mit Semmelknödel (lentil with bacon and bread dumplings) , geröstete Knödel mit Ei (roasted bread dumplings with egg), Schinkenfleckerl, Krautfleckerl, Erdäpfelpuffer and any of the soups offered as entree. You may want to try a Tafelspitz, probably at one of Viennas top restaurants like Plachutta or Steirereck. For a really nice view over the city while you eat try the Donauturm, Cobenzl, Restaurant Kahlenberg or the Sofitel Loft. For fast food you should try a Käsekrainer at any of the Würstelstände across the city, either cut into pieces with sweet mustard and a piece of dark bread or as Käsekrainer-Hotdog. And you should sample the different kinds of Leberkäse at Leberkas-Pepi near the opera house. If you fancy sweets you have to try the following Mehlspeisen (pastry, cakes, sweets…): Apfelstrudel, Topfenstrudel mit Vanillesauce (=Milirahmstrudel), Mohnstrudel, Nussstrudel, Palatschinken, Kaiserschmarrn, Buchteln, Germknödel, Marillenknödel, Zwetschgenknödel, Malakofftorte, Esterhazyschnitte and of course the famous Sachertorte. You can get them either in restaurants as desserts or just visit one of the Viennese coffeehouses.During the warm season you should definitely try some of the icecream parlors around the city: Tichy, Eissalon am Schwedenplatz, Zanoni & Zanoni, Eissalon Tuchlauben, Bortolotti, Eis-Greissler, Ferrari, Veganista. And also during the warm season a visit to a Heurigen to sample some wines is a must. You can either go up to Grinzing, but most of the Heurigen there cater especially to tourists. For more authentic Heurigen try Fuhrgass-Huber, Binder, Weinbau Herrmann, Stippert oder 10er-Marie or any other Heurigen in the western part of the city.Enjoy your stay!

Do western people genuinely enjoy eating westernized foods more than authentic Chinese food? Or have they just never tried authentic Chinese food?

Authenticity snobbery and refined palates make poor bedfellows.Look, I’m authentic Chinese. I’ve eaten more than my fair share of top-tier authentic Chinese food (thanks Dad, thanks Uncle!). I know how to make a lot of it. My authentic Chinese cooking ability is starting to approach restaurant ability for certain dishes and granny ability for others.I know the joy of a jianbing fresh from the street vendorOf sliced roast duck breast, rolled into thin crepes with a smattering of sweet bean sauce, cucumber, and scallionsOf the marvelous “squirrel fish”, cut and deep fried into a pinecone shape, then sprinkled with a sweet and sour sauceOf Shanghai Soup Dumplings, the crab roe infusing an additional burst of savory to the minced pork, the meat broth releasing itself into your mouth with the first bite (and hang the traitor who dares claim it as “Taiwanese” cuisine)Of Xinjiang lamb kebab washed down with a nice Tsingtao Pure Draft on autumn eveningsOf a nice simmering hotpot for cold winter nightsOf a hearty red braised pork belly with marinated egg which leaves a sauce perfect for cleaning up those last few scraps of riceOf dozens of other dishes from all corners of this country with enough regional cuisines for at least eight countries.Far from what some of the answers have stated, Chinese food never lacks for flavor, portion size, or protein; the fault has always been with the cook. My people were well-versed in the art of using spices and sauces to enhance flavor while the culinary standards of the modern world to this day remains at the level of “can you taste the original flavor of the fresh ingredients”.And you know what?Whenever I or the missus (who’s also quite the accomplished chef in her own right) don’t feel like cooking or doing dishes, and also aren’t quite in the mood for a nice, juicy burger, we head on over to the Panda Express and get ourselves a family feast with chow mein, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, and usually beef and broccoli. It tastes good. You don’t have to miss out on authentic Chinese food to enjoy the Americanized stuff. You don’t have to hate Americanized Chinese food (which, keep in mind, was still invented by Chinese people) to enjoy Chinese food from China.Food doesn’t need to be authentic.Food just needs to taste good. The aptly named “Taste Good Beijing Cuisine”

Shopping in Vienna question?

there is one but it's not only goth it's mixed with rock/punk/emo. but i guess they have some things for you

it's on KIRCHENGASSE

http://www.rattlesnake.co.at/index_news.php

and there are two other ones on ZOLLERGASSE but i don't know the name of them. zollergasse is a street which is going away from mariahilferstraße. but u can't miss them.

but if u check marierhilferstraße vienna on google maps u will see both streets. they r next to each other

and u should visit Marierhilferstraße and Kerntnerstraße they r the shopping streets of vienna. also Meidlingerhauptstraße and Thaliastraße have stores but if u like goth-stlye stuff then those don't have the right stores for you

and there is one mall called shoppingcity süd (SCS) that's the mall everybody goes for shopping

you can reach them all with the puplictransport sytem but make sure u always have a ticket for it.

and then there is one mall called Parndorf but i don't know how to get there......

I'm planning a trip to Boston, can anyone give me some suggestions about what to do?

I don't know how far out of town you're planning to stay, but the metro (called the "T") and bus system is quite good and you could even stay in Cambrige area (north west) and still be able to commute to downtown easily. I stayed in an area called West Roxbury with some friends, and they had other friends living in Newton area (both on the west side), and both zones are well connected (although you do have to allow 35-45 mins. to go from there to downtown).

As for the Duck cars, they aren't the kind of buses that take you all around the city and that you can hop on and off from.... they are organized tours that take you all around the city and into the river as well (they turn into a boat), they're like 1-2 hours long and depart from Prudential center. But I don't know if they're still working in November..... I was there by mid March and they weren't working yet, I was able to take the tour till early April and I'm not sure but I guess they stop in October. Anyhow, if you get the chance, take them, they're a bit touristy but fun. You can also get a guided tour along the Freedom Trail, they depart from the main park (Boston Public Garden) and are given by guides in disguise. Walk along the streets of Beacon Hill. You can also visit the USS Constitution ship. And of course go have some clam chowder and lobster, they're GOOD and cheap!!! Oh and if you happen to go nea the North End, there are some great italian restaurants and coffee shops in there, especially a place called Mike's Pastry where you can eat a Riccotta pie to die for, as well as mascarpone filled cannoli....... I guess that will give you plenty of things to do for the weekend, enjoy it!! Boston is lovely.......

What are the most amazing photos you have ever taken?

Some of the pics which I have recently clicked at my home in Himachal Pradesh (India).Asian Pears ( Nashpati)It was Nashpati season so took this pic. We eat very less of these in our village, they are in abundance. If you ever come to Himachal, visit any village and you will get to eat lot of fruits without any cost. One suggestion “Do not eat Apples with there skin on, people usually say that you should not peel apple before eating, but the amount of pesticides used is very heavy to sustain growth of apple”. That is an advise I gets from apple growers.2. Colorful DelightAll functions ends with a regional feast. Rice with six to seven dishes served. Food is usually served on pattal (plate made from leaves)Patravali - Wikipedia. But here it was missing due to non availability so we used paper plates and paper cups.3. KachnaarHave you ever heard this song “main to kachi kali hu kachnar zara sa khil jane de”.This is kachnaar, collected fresh from big trees. If you do not know, this is used as food for making sabji. Kachnaar Pickle is very tasty and healthy as well. The best i like to eat is kachnaar Raita made from its flowers. Its a blessing for your guts also.4. EnergyWhen i see kids only one question comes in my mind “इतनी एनर्जी आती कहाँ से है |”5. Anthill with pine tree, from where pine tree sap is extracted, few cuts at the bottom side and sap will start coming out and that is collected in a conical shape container. Pine Tree Sap Season: Pine Tree Sap Uses And Information6. Porcupine thornsThese are porcupine thorns, and it can kill a tiger, as i read in one of the answers on quora. This is indeed true, these are very sharp, pin pointed very hard.7. Something from roadside"my precious"8. Our PEST ControllerFinally, that’s our Personal pest controller, they keep patrolling our near home region with there unmatched stealth capabilities for unwanted intruders and keep them under control. They remains very calm, never harms anyone, never heard any incidence. But our elders used to tell us that, don’t go here and there otherwise they wont spare your leg, just to keep us in there sight.“GO” we call them, its not that “go” from English Language but there name is “GO” .
