If you haven't given an alternative email, haven't configured security questions, and haven't provided a mobile number that is current, then thats 3 strikes. I can't advise you if you have neither of those 3 safeguards set. Try contacting Yahoo support, but your chances of regaining access don't look good.

I am trying to log into my old Yahoo Mail account that I probably haven’t signed into in over 3-4 years. I know the password but when I try and sign in, it tells me that I need to sign into my backup Yahoo account to get a recovery code. I know the email to my recovery account but don’t have the password. So it asks me to fill in 2 missing digits from the phone number that I had listed. I know the digits, but then it says I need to receive a code to that number. It’s been almost 5 years, that is a really old number that I no longer have access to. Why am I forced to go through this verification process even though I got my password correct? Is there any way to go around this?

How much do you need it? Can you walk away and not distress about it? Or is the code to your bank vault in there? I hope not actually. Yahoo has been sold and the people running it now are not the same people that created it. (With a few notable exceptions, but that’s not going to help you either.)The new people may have great processes for this, but I didn’t even try to recover my y!mail account when I worked there because it was so hard to find the right person to get the right answer. Can't access my Yahoo Mail on my laptop?
I am in a loop from hell with Yahoo Mail on my laptop with Windows 7. I was not able to open attachments there, so after clearing cookies as recommended by Yahoo Support, which failed to help, I next followed their recommendation to switch from All New Mail to Classic. BAD MOVE. Now I can not get into my email from my laptop at all... keep getting asked for my password over and over, yet I am signed into yahoo itself. Also, there seems to be no way for me to switch back to the version of mail I was using before. Thank goodness I still have access on my pc with Windows XP, but I can't carry my pc on trips. What a ridiculous mess! I need to be able to access Yahoo Mail on my laptop and have if function properly. Please help!
