Is it a good practice for doctors to tell patients with serious conditions directly what type of disease or condition they are suffering from?

You or your uncle aren't the doctor's patient; your father is. It's your father's care and its the doctor's duty to relay pertinent information regarding the condition to the patient. If you don't want to the doctor communicating directly to a family member like this, then that has to be cleared both with the patient and the doctor ahead of time.Edit: To sort of clarify and emphasize, as some others have pointed out, my above statements are in regards to legal issues (just as much as they are in regards to medical ethics.) In the U.S. there's HIPAA: Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. I worked in a pharmacy and a couple hospitals, and there's always a big emphasis on making sure that you're not giving private medical information to the wrong people. As far as care goes, unless you have a Power of Attorney, you (or someone else) are not legally responsible (and cannot be) for any part of your father's medical care whatsoever, unless under certain mitigating circumstances (your father is completely incapacitated etc.)The doctor also has to lookout for him/herself. That's why there's always lots of paperwork and signatures involved.

Do I have OID? (Over-active imagination disorder). ADVICE AND HELP PLEASE?

For about six months now, I have been speculating whether I have a mental health disorder or not. After taking countless online tests, scaring my mother silly, and reading hundreds of articles about them (well, obviously not hundreds, but you get the idea), I came to the conclusion that I do not suffer strong symptoms of any of these, but do infact suffer mild ones. The strange thing is, I enjoy reading up on all these conditions and I would like to work in that area of expertise when I am old enough to get a job (I'm fourteen years old).

Anyway, onto the actual topic, I found out today (thank-you Google), that there is an unwritten medical condition called "Over-active imagination disorder". This absolutely fascinated me, as my imagination is wild and I wondered if I had it.

I read up on it from other people's experiences and I came to the conclusion that I think I may have it. My symptoms are...

- I can sit down on my own and start thinking about something which brings up lots of questions and I often go though all these different subjects rapidly until I come to something completely unrelated to the topic I started with.

- I often think of more bad/scary things, such as, the other night I imagined that I would go up to my curtains at night, open them, and there would be my dad who had hung himself from my window and there'd be a torch shining into his face so I could identify him, and a note which was hung from his neck with a fine piece of string would say "It's your fault".

God knows what made me think of that, but it was rather unsettling.

Also, I often think of things such as ghosts coming through my door (evil ghosts) and just genuinely bad things. My English teacher thinks I'm amazing at writing stories too, and she says I always write about bad things and suicide which also isn't good..

Advice please? And I apologise for the long ramble.

Can anyone give me some advice for borderline personality disorder?

I am struggling to put up with myself. I have improved in some areas (i havnt slit my wrists or overdosed on my medication for a while now) it used to be some what of a 1-2 weekly occurence. I still struggle to find reasons to stick around in a world that I don't comprehend. I usually end up talking myself out of it with my strong compassion for others (I am extremly intuitive and sensitive when it comes to emotions) this is a good thing in a way because I would gladly suffer every day for the rest of my life if it would prevent even just one person from feeling pain or having to suffer. Last week the only thing that I could think of to make all the pain worth it was so not to abandon my dog as I could not bear to think of how sad or confused she would feel. The only things that really make me happy these days is music and dancing (for I was a dancer for the majority of my life but due to the 5 year break I stopped dancing for... running out of space can someone please help? asap pleas

Which is the best medical insurance policy for kidney patients?

Most of the Mediclaim policies cover Renal / Kidney Transplant for recipient and donor. S few policies have conditions where only the recipient's medical expenses are covered. The only condition for these policies is that the problem (renal failure or the cause for this) should not exist prior to policy start date as in that case it will fall under pre-existing disease (PED) category. In all PED cases, PED exclusions year coverage will apply. In addition, there are Critical Illness coverage policies which also provide the coverage during specific conditions. I would request you to contact general insurance companies for specific details on their policy benefits.

I have had typhoid fever for 15 days. I took the medicine and I'm still having symptoms. The doctor told me that it's been cured, but I still have a headache, abdominal pain, throat pain, weakness, and fever. What should I do now?

Typhoid cannot be cured through medicines alone. DO NOT SELF MEDICATE. It needs medicine ( continuous for some time), diet (lot of water), rest and the body defense mechanism takes over to eliminate the virus. WIDAL will show positive even after 30 days. So, dont go by it. Consult a senior or government doctor (local and aged doctor in your locality) and obey whatever he/she says.Note: When i had typhoid, i tried to read a lot about it and took medicines without rest. I got relapse and was admitted to hospital needing saline and bed rest. I lost hair and became weak and paranoid. They stopped giving me medicines as i developed resistence. Hence, please dont read, dont take any advice from online forums or change doctors. A local doctor knows the number of cases in that locality and what medicine doses work better. Hence, please take rest, eat right food and mainly OBEY what doctor says suspending your intelligence and experience. This is not a disease that you can take lightly and medicine alone cannot cure this. I speak from experience.
