I Am Trying To Find A Square Replacement Latch To Replace

How can I replace just the sliding door on my patio door?

Lift a bottom-supported door (such as an sliding glass patio door) straight up to clear the bottom track. Then sharply angle the bottom of the door outward, and lift the door from the track. Be careful—sliding doors can be very heavy!Apply a dab of paint remover to access the screw heads so you can extract them.Note that some sliders have a removable molding at the top that is designed to prevent the door from falling out. If your door is captured by one of these, you’ll need to remove the molding. Find the screws that attach it (they may be puttied and painted). Dab the screw head with paint remover, carefully scrape the paint from the head with the point of a utility knife, and then extract the screw with a screwdriver or screwdriver tip in a portable drill.A top-hung door (such as a closet door or a pocket door) can be lifted straight up and then angled to lift the rollers from the track. You may need to align notches on the track with the rollers before you can lift the door out.

Green lines are appearing on a laptop screen. What is the problem? How can I resolve it?

The image which we see on our screen is a result of many tiny pixels that creates a perfect blend of colors to generate it. Every single pixel in the display is made of three subpixels which are red, green, and blue. Small transistors inside the screen electronically trigger the correct color which collectively displays a picture. When these pixels stuck on a particular tone, then it will appear as a single dot on the screen whereas if the number of stuck pixels is high then, it will surface like a green line on a laptop screen. Now, before deciding to replace your laptop screen you can try some methods which can help you in resolving this issue on your own.· Ensure the source of a problemTwo components can be responsible for green lines which are LCD screen and the graphics card. Each part has a different process of repair. To find the source, first, try a different monitor to check whether the lines appear on a new display. If they do, then the graphics card has malfunctioned. Second, examine display settings and alter them if they are not ideally set. If both the things are not at fault then probably the issue is with a display.· Pixel pressure methodStuck pixels can get back to normal operation by applying gentle pressure. Here you can use a piece of tape to highlight the area where a green line on laptop screen has appeared. Now with a soft cloth, you have to employ moderate pressure to the stuck pixel line after turning the system off. Make sure that you don't press it hard otherwise the problem will get worse. It will tenderly flex the screen material which will make the pixels to shift from permanent “on” position hence resolving the issue.· Update the driversOutdated drivers can also lead you to a green line on a laptop screen. Here you have to check the driver versions for graphics card and LCD. If there are updates available, then download it and keep your OS updated as well.· Color cyclingQuick cycling of the colors can fix stuck pixels. It helps in removing "kinks” out of the subpixels which brings them back to normal condition. You can do this with the help of programs which are available online as free downloads such as Jscreen Fix, Undead Pixel etc. The process can take up to 20 minutes to an hour, but it will fix the issue. In case if the problem persists, then it will be wise to contact a repair service provider as an expert can lead you in the right direction if you can't find a solution.

If our current doors are 29 and a fraction of an inch across...what are we supposed to do about a replacement?

I agree with ralph b. However, fitting a new door into an old frame takes a considerable amount of skill. I know because I've been a journeyman carpenter for 30 years. The old frame is likely out of square, a novice carpenter will have a difficult time fitting the door correctly.

Might I suggest removing the casing, after doing so, pull the nails through with a pare of pliers. Cut the nails that hold the door frame on the backside of the frame (between the door frame and the wall stud) with a reciprocating saw using a metal blade. After doing so, the frame will fall out easily.

Install a pre-hung door (30" or 2'-6"), the rough frame door opening (32") will most likely be large enough to install a new pre-hung door without having to rework the rough opening. Install the new door then reinstall the old casing. Check the height of the rough opening, it should be 6'-10". If it is not tall enough then you'll have to cut off the bottom of the new door and frame.

I know this sounds expensive and time consuming but in the long run you'll come out ahead (my opinion) and the results will be more satisfactory than trying to fit a new door into an old frame. If this sounds too difficult then you should consider hiring a professional.

Special note: Interior pre-hung doors have split jambs (one half slides into the other half) these are made for modern walls (2x4 w/ drywall = 4.5" or 2x6 w/ drywall = 6.5") the walls in your house are probably plaster (thicker walls) so you will likely have to order a wider split jamb, one that will work with the thickness of your wall ( 5" or 7").

I hope this will help you make an informed decision.

How to replace alternator on 2003 chevy blazer?

Start by disconnecting the negative terminal off the battery
Next, find the spring loaded belt tensioner assy and pull it back away from the belt using a wrench so the belt is loose.
While holding the tensioner back slip off the belt noting the routing around the pulleys BEFORE you take it off. Next remove the bolts holding the alternator on--two in front and one in back. Tilt the alternator to expose the back of the unit and unplug the multi-wire connector in back--it has a locking latch to pull up to release it. Hold the big red wire in the back with your hand and take the nut off the terminal thus allowing the thick red wire to be removed. Everything in reverse order to install. Voltage across the battery with a good alternator and fully charged battery will usually be 14.1 volts DC. If I remember right the bolt size on the tensioner is a 16mm the alternator bolt sizes are 15mm, 13mm and 10mm for the terminal to the red wire on the back. The bolt size on the battery terminal is; 8mm.

How do you remove a square screw head without a square screwdriver?

First, I think you mean a screw with a square socket, also known as a Roberts screw. (I’ve seen some old screws with square heads you turn with an open end wrench.)Any method you choose to try to remove a square head screw without a square head driver would be much, much more trouble than any cost it saves is worth.Screwdrivers are inexpensive. These screws are usually tightened or removed with a hand held power drill/screwdriver with the appropriate bit. A Roberts bit costs 1–3 dollars at a home center. If you don’t have a drill and want to remove it with a hand tool, you can buy an inexpensive screwdriver that comes with interchangeable bits. Your total cost would then be around 6 dollars. If this happens to be a deck screw sunk deep into a joist, it would be hard work to remove by hand and nearly impossible to install with a hand screwdriver. If the whole head is accessible, not countersunk, then you could remove any screw with a large, long-handled pliers or a vise grips. This might be the way to go if you have one of those tools and don’t have a square tipped screwdriver. Another method is to tighten the chuck of a power drill on the head and back it out with the drill.

What lubricant would work best for a sliding glass door on a house?

First of all, it should never be necessary to lubricate the top track. It the door is rubbing the top track, then you have larger problems than you can/want to handle yourself. Replacing the rollers (roller assemblies) might cure your problem, but as Mr. Streiff advised, " You do not own the property and its maintenance and upkeep is the landlord's responsibility". If the landlord is unwilling to fix the problem, suggest to her that you will fix it if she will deduct the cost from your rent. Then get it in writing, even it is just an e-mail. But before going that far, try adjusting the roller assemblies at each end of the door. Most sliding glass doors are adjustable, as it is common for the wheels to wear down, and the door to drag on the bottom of the track. Turn the adjusting screw so that the wheel comes down and the door rises. Use graphite on the wheels. I do not recommend anything else. There are a couple of 'dry' lubricants, on the market, but I have not had enough feedback/experience with them to be sold on their use. If you must replace the wheels/wheel assembly, then you need to remove them and take the best looking one to your local hardware department. There are many different styles and sizes, so you will need to match the old one to be sure of a proper fit. Sometimes, you can get away with just replacing the wheels. If you cannot tell if you have the kind that allows just the replacing of the wheel, ask the salesman. If neither of you are sure, buy the entire assembly. The price difference is usually not that much. I, personally, have always replaced the entire assembly. If the wheel is worn that bad, I know that the wheel frame is the same age, with same amount of wear. Why take the chance of having to open her back up again in a few months to replace the rest of the thing.Moose from toolboxzone.com
