I Am Twenty Years Old When I First Joined The Bank

How much money should a 20 year old have saved up in the bank?

I think you are doing fantastic! Always try to keep an emergency fund of at least one thousand while you pay off any debt, and then bump it up to 3 to 6 months income. At 20, I had no money and a credit card. These days, most 20 yr olds have 2 or 3 credit cards already. Don't believe any of that credit crap, either. Pay cash for everything, have an emergency fund, and put a little aside in a mutual fund towards retirement. Even $25/mo now in a mutual fund will allow you to retire 10 years ahead of time. If you always pay your rent on time, you won't need any credit history to get a mortgage on a house. You just have to find a mortgage lender who does personal underwriting. You have a great start. Don't mess it up!

Twenty one years old? or twenty one year old?

He is a twenty-one year old.
He is twenty-one years old.

She will be twenty-one years old.
She will be a twenty-one year old woman.

Use a hyphen only between the numbers, not in other parts of the sentence. Hypenating numbers is common. Hyphenating other words is not proper.

Can my 20-year-old sister open a bank account for me (15)?

That depends on the individual bank’s policies. In the United States, a minor (under age 18) cannot sign a legally binding contract such as the one required to open a bank account. However, they can almost always share a joint bank account with their parent or legal guardian. That’s the easiest way. Bank of America, for example, only allows parents and legal guardians to create accounts with a minor child. After the child reaches the age of majority (18), the account can be transferred to their name alone. Some banks, but not all, allow any adult family member to share a joint account with a minor. Many credit unions work like this, as long as the family member is also a member of the credit union.Very few banks will allow any adult, no matter the relation, to share an account with a minor child. Capital One and Wells Fargo are the only banks I’ve found that allow that.

Should I join gym, if I am 20 year old and just 45 kgs in weight

Hey diksha,I think you are little bit below the required weight for a 20 year old girl. U think you should join gym so that you can increase your body weight in particular not in the unwanted areas. The reason for your not gaining weight can be two either you are not eating enough food or that your metabolism is high , so whatever you eat is not being able to direct itself. In order to deal with it you should first dedicate some time and workout your diet plan, do take enough amount if protien rich food and also some healthy fat food products like cheese, milk and all. Then do go to gym and do some amount of weight exercises like squats , pushups, lifts. Do remember to do it in less number of reps , and reduce the amount of cardio.Hope you got my point and best of luck.

I am 26 years old and I want to play for Indian cricket team?

First thing first: Age is an overrated drawback in cricket. Do you know oldest cricketer to make a test debut was Mr John Southerton at the age of 49 years. Yes, it was in early phases of cricket but today also Misbah-ul-Haq is 40 and Younis Khan is 39 and they both are playing international cricket although in test format only. You would be knowing the failures faced by Abraham Lincoln before becoming president of the USA.Abraham Lincoln's "Failures" and "Successes"The point is there is never late to start something new and if I am right then you are not starting to play cricket. That means you are already halfway through. Pravin Tambe is still playing IPL at his forties. You have your whole life in front of you.Motivations apart, now the bitter truth. Most of the youngsters in India specially north India wishes to make a career in cricket and India is such a big country that even 1 percent of ours equals 1.3 crores people. Making all the mathatical calculations, the maximum number of people those can make their career in cricket at one point of time, including all the leagues, would come around roughly 1 lakh. Mind you this includes everything right from U-14 to international level. Now the ball is in your court. If you really are passionate to make a career in cricket then forget the age factor and with utter dedication, focus only on cricket. Today IPL has provided a great platform for instant recognition. But first you need to give this a serious thought. See, whether cricket will become a career for you in future is not in your hands. Right now you have your passion towards the game. So, keep your concentration only on your game and go out and play. No doubt, failures will come but how you will react to them would determine your career. But please never lose your hope and never give up. Life is not a DC wave but an AC wave, there are crests and troughs. So keep this in mind. It may happen that you may not get instant success but as I said there is never late to start something afresh.Hope it helps you!!!

How much money should a 20 year old have saved?

i am a 20 year old male and first off before i answer your question - stop comparing yourself to other people. this is your life. everyone is different and everyone for example - will have different amounts of money saved in the bank.

now to answer your question. for me - i found a decent job making 30k a year when i turned 20. according to my calculations (* living expenses, etc *) I should be able to save at least 7k or more a year, if I am very frugal with my money.

a tip for you.... when you get your degree and have a job that you like... invest your savings money in the stock market... I have my 401k vested in energy stocks. my own personal money that i save - i vest in energy stocks as well.. the end result? i am paid dividends each fiscal (* financial *) quarter of say $0.33 to $15.00 (* depending on the amount of stocks that I own, how well they did, what they are worth now, etc *) - what I am hoping to achieve? take all the returns on my stocks, invest more, and end up working for personal fulfillment - not to live.

so... with that being said, if you want to be "well off" - DON'T:

1.) buy the fancy car that your friend or fellow students have. - it will depreciate in value and you will be burdened with debt. - buy the 5-6 yr old used vehicle that gets decent mpgs and is reliable.

2.) spend too much. spend as little as you can to get by. it will be tough if you are used to that kind of lifestyle. but... over time you will realize that money will have no impact on your life as you will have vested it wisely and are controlling money - not letting money control you!

3.) avoid college majors that are high in unemployment or will not allow you to earn a decent salary to pay off your student loans in time. there are plenty of grads working at starbucks and more because they thought at the time that - music major would be a good choice.

How much money should the average 21 have saved up in the bank?

Do not compare what you have to others first off. YOU HAVE MONEY IN SAVINGS SO YOU HAVE MORE THAN THE US GOVERNMENT! That is a wonderful thing.
Here is what I would do... Right now most credit unions are allowing a Certificate of Deposit for a minimum of $500.00. You can help your savings grow by putting $1000.00 and putting that in certificates of deposits. Find the best rates and then ladder your savings. Have one expire in 7 months or 12 months or 18 months. You are earning more and then continue to do this.

When I was 21 and on my own I had 20K in Debt. (How because I was dumb and used credit cards and never paid them off in full)

So stay on this track that you are on.
Keep $2000.00 availible at all times for emergencies. But every time you double your savings put half of your savings into a CD or Money Market and continue to grow that savings. CD Rates will get better... and that way you are making money with your money.
