I Am Wondering If Consuming Olive Oil Is Healthy For A Vegetarian

What should I be eating for a carb cycling vegetarian?

Im currently doing a carb cycling program where you take your body weight and plan to eat an equal amount in grams of protein. then day 1 you take your body weight and add 100 to that for your grams of carbs. then every day after that you take away 50-100 grams of carbs until you are at 0 (or as low as you can) then do that for 2 or 3 days then repeat. For me i weigh 138 lbs but i just decided to round to 100. so 100 g of protein each day. then day 1 is 200 g of carbs. day 2 150 and etc. As a vegan i can't go completely zero but for 2 days at the end i will go as low as possible and then start the whole thing over. I plan to eat a lot of salad with spinach, tofu, olive oil, and balsamic because spinach and tofu are fairly low carbs and drink a lot of protein shakes on the low days and on higher days i plan to eat more veg, beans, potatoes, etc.. If you eat eggs and dairy i would suggest eating hardboiled eggs and sugarfree yogurt or cottage cheese or something. I find these much easier when i plan out meals and snacks so then when i get hungry i can look at my list and see what i planned to have for my next snack. This also helps for planning ahead. I'm sorry if this post was a bit confusing. I would suggest researching different methods and ways that have worked for profesional body builders also. I wont give a sample menu because i don't know your weight or the amount of carbs and protein you need but some suggested foods would be oatmeal (for higher carb days). vegetables, nuts, beans, tofu, eggs and etc. Try to eat higher fiber and filling foods and try to get more simple salads into your diet =) I have been loving them lately! I keep zip locks with spinach and a little shredded carrot. and i keep tofu marinated in olive oil and balsamic and so when i want a salad i just put it together and drizzle a bit of olive oil and balsamic and it is great. Adding eggs would be a carbless protein addition and you can addother stuff like sweet potato, apples, and nuts and stuff depending on the carbs you need. If you have an i phone or smart phone look for nutrition label apps. a lot of them don't need internet and then you can find the cabrs and protein for a lot of the foods you eat regularly and keep a little list to make things easier. also protein at each meal is a good idea. For lunch and dinner i try to protein, veggies, and (depending on the day of carb cycling) some sort of healthy carb. I hope i was of some help. Good luck!

I just became vegan and was wondering: is vaseline vegan?

Vaseline as a brand is not vegan (It's made by Unilever who use animal testing). There may be some brands of petroleum jelly that are, but it isn't really very good for your skin anyway. It acts as a barrier instead of actually adding moisture to your skin. So, as an example, let's say you have dry or chapped lips. If you put petro. jelly or something whose main ingredient is petro. jelly on them, it will keep them from getting any drier when you're out in cold/windy conditions, but it won't actually heal them at all. You're better off looking for products or recipes whose main ingredients are aloe, olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, vitamin E oil, almond or grapeseed oil, etc.

Healthy Italian meals?

Hey, I'm Italian American, an I'm a vegetarian, an I try to eat very healthy, but I miss a lot of the dishes I had at home, pasta pasta pasta LOL. I can't eat tomatoes because they are too acidic, I can't eat wheat, or meat. Milk an eggs give me stomach aches too, though I can handle a small amount if it's in a dish. I can eat mozzarella cheese though, because it's digested easily, an other easily digested cheeses like feta. Can you give me some simple, delicious Italian recipes within my diet restriction guidelines?

Is my (veggie) subway sub healthy?

I was wondering, roughly about how many calories/fat my sub has. This is what i usually get.
6-inch Veggie:
Wheat bread
No cheese
Lettuce
Tomato
Spinach
Pickles
Jalepenos
A little sweet onion dressing
A little chipoltle southwest dressing
Pepper

I know the dressing isn't the healthiest, but I've already cut down from a footlong, cut the herb & cheese bread, stopped adding cheese slices, and drink water with it instead of coke.

I eat this often, so your answers would help alot! Thanks! I really don't have the time to look up all the nutritional info at the moment :(

Is fried tofu healthy?

Soy has nutritional value in any form. It is also low in fat - lower in fat than most meats- on it's own - so fried tofu WOULD be lower in fat than an alternative of fried pork or beef.

HOWEVER frying it is adding as much fat as if you were frying anything else.

Look at it this way: it's like the difference between a boiled potato and a french fry. Though potatoes are nutritious and wholesome, there is no real way to spin that a french fry is truly "good for you".

Enjoy it in moderation, as a treat, once in a while.
