I Asked My Army Recruiter How Many Push Ups And Sit Ups I Should Do Daily And He Said Do Hundreds

Which is better, 300 burpees or 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, and 100 squats?

The question should be more specificEven though I will try to answerSee burpees are good way to burn calories or you can say that burpees are better if we talk about cardio. After doing burpees my heart literally comes out of rib cage so if you are looking ko burn more calories then I would say burpees are better because of switching of position in the exercise quickly you can burn more caloriesNow talking about squats and pushups. These 2 exercises can help you build a better strength. If you are focusing on army recruitment or something which needs you to build more strength then you should focus on squats and pushups .Talking about situps it basically activates your core and a bit of quards . It is actually an exercise i won't recommend because according to me its a waste of time if you are going pushups and squats it will activate your core too. For only core, exercise you can to leg raises lying or hanging and plankThanksHope it helpsKeep lifting

Army physical fitness test 10 pts?

Army pt: easy. Drop out rate: my platoon had 60 graduated with 57. Basic isnt as hard as people think. The thing that sucked is i missed real food and snacks smh haha but yeah the people above me are right though about the pt scores and all that if you can do 35 pushups and like 42 sit ups your and run a 16:36 2 mile you should be good. But keep in mind that is the minimum, aim to get 300 on your pt test. Before you join the you have to take a little 1-1-1 for the army, its like 10 pushups and 13 sit ups and a 8:30 1 mile.

How should i train for the United States Marine Corps?

how much should i be running daily before i join? (distance and time wise)
how many consecutive military push ups should i be able to in 2 minutes before joining?
how many pull ups should i be able to do in 2 minutes before joining?
I KNOW NOTHING CAN REALLY PREPARE YOU FOR THE CORPS BUT ID JUST LIKE TO KNOW IF IM TRAINING HARD ENOUGH BEFORE I JOIN (instead of arriving there not in USMC physical shape)
ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!
im considering both the USN and the USMC
i figure that if im in USMC shape, i should SHINE in the us navy, but i am considering the marines.

How physically fit should you be before trying to join the army?

I'm considering the army job of Explosive Ordinance Disposal due to my background in firearms, electronics, and explosives (father has a BATFE permit for manufacture of fireworks) so since my college degree in machining isn't proving too usefull, I was wondering how much i should work at getting in shape before trying to go into the army?

How far should i be able to run or jog? How many situps and pullups? Other exercises i need to work on?

I'm 185lbs (i will drop to 160 in weeks if i start doing situps and quit eating junk food, i'm just being lazy in between jobs right now) and 5'11", healthy non-smoker who is unmarried and has no problem with overseas deployment (so long as we don't decide to invade iran or saudi arabia)

I am used to standing for 12 hours without sitting, when working as a machinist. Clean criminal record, no drug use, etc.

Once physically fit, would i stand a good chance at getting the EOD job?

Can you do Push Ups instead of Pull Ups in the USMC PFT? If so, how many?

The latest PFT order was updated in 2016 and changed the rules quite a bit so many old school Marines don't know the new rules and think pushups aren't accepted.Yes you can do pushups on a Marine Corps PFT. However you're only allowed to do pushups if you fail to do the required amount of pullups to pass the strength portion of the PFT. (FYI The required amount is 3 for males and 1 for females.)Besides this your score is handicapped to 70 points for the upper strength portion if you can score perfect on the pushups. Which, if you can score perfect, would mean you can probably do at least 5 pullups. So it's really only a last resort for those who truly can't do pullups to pass. The best option is to focus on doing pullups. If you're good at pushups then pullups should come easy. Do the PFT as it was meant to be and you'll go far in the Marine Corps.

What will happen at Parris Island if I can't do any pull-ups when I get there?

What will happen at Parris Island if I can't do any pull-ups when I get there? When I went to boot camp at San Diego in the summer of 1983, a recruit in my platoon couldn’t do any pull-ups and could only muster about 45 sit-ups in two minutes. He received a huge ration of harassment from the Drill Instructors who have a vested interest in not letting any weak sisters join our beloved Corps. However, this young recruit from Texas could run like the wind. As we moved from the sit-ups to the run, he ran three miles in 14 minute 50 seconds, tying the San Diego Recruit Depot record. He said he could have run a bit faster if he hadn’t had to struggle to do pull-ups and sit-ups beforehand. The DIs thought he cheated but he hadn’t. This recruit was from rural Texas, had the most outrageous and exaggerated southern drawl that made him sound less than intelligent and he was far less than intelligent. He’d never shaved before so he failed our first hygiene inspection when he was observed to have very long blonde peach fuzz all over his face. For unknown reasons the DI yelled for me to come shave him. So, I had to shave his face. It took a long time because the razor would fill with hair very quickly and required constant rinsing. I was being yelled at do it more and more quickly. I think they wanted me to cut him in the process but I never did draw blood. Additionally, over the next few weeks he was repeatedly found to have his boots on the wrong feet (left on right, right on left). As I said, he wasn’t very intelligent. He was eventually dropped back to the physical conditioning platoon (PCP) and I never saw him again. I assume he completed boot camp after developing the ability to do three pull-ups - the minimum amount needed at that time, but I don’t know if he ever developed that ability or not.If you can’t do any pull-ups, you’re going to have a most miserable time at boot camp and may not successfully complete boot camp. You may end up with a discharge and never become a Marine.I recommend you begin completing the Crossfit work out of the day immediately. Additionally, I recommend you begin doing at least 100 of the following everyday, striving to get to the point where you can complete all 100 non-stop: deep knee bends (body weight squats), push ups, abdominal exercises.Good luck to you.

General Army Questions (PT, BCT, Reception, ASVAB) Please answer!?

Its a long list, but I'll try my best, though some questions are best left to the recruiters.

ASVAB:
The AFQT score is the most important score on the test. It is graded as a percentile of the population who have taken the exam before you. It consist of WK+PC+MK+AR scores. The services uses this not only to determine if you can get in, but unofficially prioritize you for training in an MOS as well. Try to score the highest in this area. There are other line score that will determine you vocational skills, but they are not as important as AFQT. I am not sure what the required AFQT score is for the Army, ask recruiter.

BCT:
I never was able to keep track of time during BCT, but you will wake up before sunrise and sleep about 10pm. Also, there is the occasional firewatch where you have to wake up in the middle of the night to make sure nothing happens. The training units are co-ed but the barracks are single gender. They are traditional bays with the beds all lined in rows, maybe stacked, and there is a large bathroom with the facilities partitioned off for a little privacy. As for activities, it depends on what they are training; NBC takes about a day where rifle training is much longer.

Reception:
This is actually low stress, though a bit crazy. There are Drill Sergents there, but they are chill for now. When you come in, you are given an opportunity to permanently drop any illegal items in an amnesty box (its in a private room so that no one can see you) but you should not be bringing them in at all. I would get a list from the recruiter about what items to bring and its probably a good idea to get them before you go. While you are at reception, about 3-4 days, you will do LOADS of paperwork, get plenty of medical attention (those spray guns will feel like bee stings after 5 seconds) and issue all the clothes you need.

PT:
You will be doing more exercises than just push-ups, sit-ups and running, but those three are used for the PT test. The scores are based on age and gender. You can google that or ask a recruiter.

Hope that was enough for you.
