Finger hurts so bad from cut!?
The pain is likely from the finger healing and could last a couple days. I myself have known the pain of broken mugs and it's not fun at all. Tylenol may help somewhat with the pain, but I would suggest perhaps an Advil/Motrin or Aleve, as they may reduce some of the inflammation around the area. Numbing agents like orajel or lanacaine should never be put on an open wound unless otherwise directed by a physician, as they may get into the bloodstream. If you wish to numb the area, the best option would be to use a cold-pack wrapped in a towel for no more than 10 minutes on the finger, as to prevent frostbite.
Cut my finger really bad and now everything i eat tastes like blood?
Im not totally sure, did u clean it properly? I sliced my hand open once and I didn't have any disinfectant so i had to use Whiskey and Malt Vinegar... My point is, as sore as it might be, "Make sure it is Totally disinfected" you can use regular household products if you don't have any disinfectant. I would recommend u consult a doctor after that, because truthfully i am not sure why you are tasting blood/iron if for whatever reason you cannot consult a doctor, i would wait until tomorrow or the day after to see if the taste goes away, if it leaves you, then you should be fine 'as long' as the wound does not get infected. (This is why i emphasized disinfectant) Its probably just your minds subconscious way of reacting to the shock of sudden nerve damage in the finger. A really bad cut on my finger?
About 3 or 4 days ago I was cutting potatoes with a mandoline. For anybody who doesn't know what that is, here's a picture: http://www.foodandnutrition.org/mandoline-potato.jpg I accidentally cut my thumb, and now I have a deep, V-shaped cut on the side of the pad of my thumb. The skin was still attached on one side, so I washed it with soap and water and once the bleeding finally stopped, I put some Neosporin on it and covered it with a bandage and some tubular gauze. It doesn't hurt unless it's touched. It looks to be healing, the skin in the V of the cut is dark (I assume from the blood) and the skin there is very tender and painful (like I said, only if disturbed). I don't think it's quite deep enough or big enough to require stitches. I'm just wondering how long I should keep it covered before I take the bandage off to let it breathe. I was thinking about taking it off while I sleep tonight and just bandaging it again in the morning. What should I do? Help! Thank you!
So, I cut my finger... and it's hot?
First of all, make sure you don't need stitches or something like that. DON'T listen to the other guy who answered this. It's a certain kind of glue that the doctors use. Surgical glue. If you can close the wound on both sides then you need stitches and since it's been a long time since the injury, bandaging and glue is out of the question. It gets hot because that's your body responding to injury. Inflammation involves redness, swelling and it gets hot. nothing to worry about. Even little injuries get hot because your body responds to trauma that way. IMPORTANT: clean it out with alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide so it won't get infected. Bandage it with triple antibiotic ointment on it, or neosporin, it's the same thing. Use gauze and tape if it's draining or bleeding, and a bandaid if it's not.
I just cut my finger and I can see the bone?
I was trying to open a can with a cheap pocket knife, and it folded down on me and cut my pinky finger just below the middle knuckle. I can still bend my finger, but when I do I see a little bit of bone come down. The pain's not bad at all, probably because it was a very clean cut. I'm applying pressure, and it's almost stopped bleeding, but my girlfriend took my car so I'm home alone with no way to get to the doctor. Everything else appears to be normal. The bones are still in place and everythig, I just have a really deep cut. So my question is... Do I need to go to the doctor for this, or can I treat it myself?
I cut my finger pretty badly with a broken plate. How do I take care of it? How long will it take to heal?
I always use Neosporin and bandages. I keep the finger bandaged even when it's scabbed over so the scab doesn't rip off and reinjure. Unless your flesh is hanging off, you most likely won't need stitches for a finger. I'd keep it bandaged pretty good and try not to let the bandage slip off, (fingers are tricky). I usually replace the bandages once soreness goes away, and once a day after that. If there's no Neosporin or we're low, I use peroxide instead. I don't like peroxide because it requires you to hold open the wound and pour it in, so I highly recommend Neosporin or some other sort of antibacterial cream to prevent infection. As far as how long it takes to heal, that depends. If your cut doesn't reopen and it scabs in a timely manner, you're probably looking at 2 weeks until closed skin minimum. If for whatever reason your scabs get pulled off and it bleeds or you just reinjure it some other way, you're tacking on several more weeks. I keep scabs bandaged to prevent scarring, but if you aren't worried about that, then I would say after 2 weeks of scabbing you can stop bandaging it.I have relatively small fingers and I got a piece of glass stuck in my left ring finger before. I still have the scar, but for me, my hands typically heal in a week or 2. If it's a bad cut, it's going to take at least 2 weeks. Soreness at least 1 week to go down.
How much would it hurt to cut off the tip of a finger?
Three years ago, i got into a physical altercation with a woman for screwing my boyfriend at the time. A man grabbed me from behind but no one grabbed her. As he pulled me back she grabbed on to my hand, pulledmy finger in her mouth and proceeded to gnaw it off. I felt her bite but never wouldve thought anyone would ever do what she did. The guy finally pulled me back and pushed me away. She stood up, turned around and spit somethng out. I said “What was that? Your tooth? Then I heardy buff yelling for me to go to the car. As I walked the red caught my eye. My bff drove me to the ER. She had bitten my entire finger tip off on my right index finger. The pain wasnt so bad then I had surgery. It was opened and looked like steak. A plastic surgeon pit me to slee, cut the sides of my finger open them sewed it shut. That's when the pain began and it was unbearable and I couldn't dress myself…couldnt do anything. Brushing my hair and fastening my bra wet worst. Oh and my pill bottles. I couldn't open them. I'd find strangers and store clerks to do it sometimes. The pills didn't work at all. I had to wait for the pain to go omits own b4 I could get any relief, them ibuprofen only worked bcoz of the pulsing pain. They started me on perkesets which did nothing, then deladid, same thing, then I gave up. She had gone thru flesh, fingernail, skin and bone and severed all the nerves. I had to then go to finger therapy every week, for 6 months at the hand center to shape and desensitize it bcuz all the nerves were new and it hurt to touch anything.3 years later, I have a NUB. It still hurts to touch things by the scar and I can no longer feel with it. I can feel when it touched something but I can feel what it is. Just the pressue. For a couple weeks afterlife I put my finger near something, not touching. I could feel it like I was touching it. Crazy right? That went away eventually though.... So I wouldn't recommend this. It is excruciating and probably not worth it at all
I cut myself with glass and it hurts really bad , what should i do ?
Its a small cut on my finger , i cut it with a broken glass frame . It was bleeding alot then it stop , and for a second i think the blood closed it up , and by accident it reopened and i started bleeding again but not that much , it hurts alot though . Theres not glass in there , cuz its impossible , there was any pieces . But i dont have a band aid . how long would it take to close up ?
