How long should it take to safely lose 30 pounds? What are some tips for doing so?

Best to provide you with some basics on weight loss first:As I’m sure you already know, if you consume less calories (from your food and drink) than your body needs, your body will burn up fat to try and make up the difference - it requires energy for daily maintenance. Slowly, you’ll lose weight. One pound of body fat is equal to approx 3,500 calories, ok.The recomended safe rate of weight loss is to aim to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. After doing some quick maths, this means you need to eat at least 500 calories less per day than you do now. What’s the catch? If your dietary nutrition is out of the window, i.e. awful - then either you need to burn off way more than 500 calories per day to kick start your weight loss, or you need to make some serious changes to what you eat!If you head over to any online Calorie Calculator, or use an app, these can usually tell you a couple of important things (based on your current activity levels):Your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)Your BMR is the number of calories required by your body to keep functioning at rest. The number of calories you’ll need to burn in order to safely lose 1 or 2 pounds per week.Remember though, these are just estimates which give you a defined goal to work towards. How long will it take?Well, let’s say you work on losing no more than 2 pound per week, it will take you approx 15 weeks (3–4 months) to lose 30 pounds of weight. This is assuming you have a healthy diet and some exercise in place! What are some good tips for losing 30 pounds of weight?Review your dietary nutrition!Add some regular exercise to your weekly regimeIf your current diet (i.e. what you eat & drink) is pants, then first and foremost, take a good look at what you are eating!Swap out 1 unhealthy choice per week with a healthy choice - Repeat!Increase your intake of Fruit & VegHydrate well by drinking plenty of waterIncrease the amount of protein & healthy fats you eat (Helps keep you feeling fuller)Reduce/cut-out all white carbs - such as sweets, cakes etcReduce beige carbs - such as white bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etcEat more smaller meals at regular intervals throught the dayAdd some exercise into your weekly regime!Try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise per dayTake the stairs, walk/cycle to workExercise before, during or after work - as long as you do somethingGo for a speed walk at lunchtimeJoin a sports club - play tennis, go swimmingBuy yourself a fitness watch to keep tabs!Hope this helps :-)

How long does it take to lose 1 pound of fat?

Your body can only oxidize fat at a rate of approximately 31 calories per pound of body fat a day, whilst this number may vary based on a whole range of factors, this is why it is generally advised when losing weight to stick to a daily caloric deficit of about 500-600 calories (If your deficit is too aggressive, the body will have to turn to other sources such as muscle to get the additional required energy). The more body fat you have, the higher your caloric deficit can be and still be burning fat. Generally you can lose about 1-2 pounds a week based on your body composition. Long story short - a deficit of 3500 calories in one day would not reflect a pound of fat loss. To lose one pound will take 3-4 days absolute minimum (at around 900 calories deficit a day for an overweight person), but generally is going to take 5-6 days at 700 calories a day deficit.

Desperate 280 pound 15 year old. Please help, don't just add bogus websites either?

Ok well Im a fifteen year old sophmore in high school and I'm 6 ft tall and weigh 280 pounds. I wrestle for my school and we are currently in season. I have tried many times (and have failed) to lose weight and this time I am really prepared to buckle down. I recently went to a convention where there was a dance and a lot of grinding and I felt uncomfortable, didnt dance with anyone, and felt self concious. This really compelled me to want be smaller and not have to worry about being self concious. There is another convention coming up in february and I guess that will be my goal because there will be alot of dancers. I am already getting enough physical activity through wrestling but I need to develop a diet plan that would aide me in dropping a very large amount of weight by then. I know 50 sounds ridiculous but that would be so awesome if i could do that, its not even funny.

So anyone who could help me in dropping this weight in time for february please feel free to answer.

Also- my mom is a nurse and will notice if I am crash dieting and flip so I need a diet plan to work around my parents and try to avoid their intervention.

At this point, I dont even care if its safe anymore, I just really really really want the weight gone quickly because it will improve my life in many many ways.
I know most will just say eat healthy, or eat veggies or something but I need a radical diet to try in order for this not to be at a slow progress like a pound a week.

So anyone who thinks they can help
PLEASE answer!

Lose 100 pounds in 1 month?

first you have understand something- do not be panic, be patient. just focus on your goal. make small goals, like in one week you will loss half pound, next week's goal 1 pound, and so on.

change your food habit. eat not more than 1200 calories a day. try fresh fruit, juice, vegetables. avoid potato, coconut, banana, beef, prawn or pork.

go for crash diet once a month only for 3-4days.

join a gym. if you can not, do not worry. go for a walk. walk as fast as you can. start with 15 minutes, then gradually increase time. each day add 5 minutes. after your walk, do freehand exercise and yoga.

there is a workout plan for you:

7-10min= stretching

15-20min= fly,Biceps Curl, Triceps Curl, Forward Arm Raise
(all these=30 repetations)

20-25min=Basic Crunch, Reverse Curl, Full Crunch, Squats, Rear Leg Lifts
(all these=30 repetations)

30min= yoga (try 6-8 postures, DO NOT forget to do the Corpse Pose after every pose)

doing yoga after 30 mins of walking or after any workout is really very very effective for loosing weight.

if you are very busy and dont have much time to spend 75-80 min for working out then go for a 30min of walking and then do yoga. it works really very fast.

i have lost 5 kgs (11 pounds) in last 2 months by doing these things.

do not worry, be patient and simply focus on your small targets.

good luck

How can I lose 23 kilos (51 pounds) in a month ?

Go to the gym whenever possible, skip rope, basically just work out a lot. Eat smaller portions and drink 8 glasses of water a day. And drink small amounts of grapefruit juice as it burns fat. It's going to take a lot of dedication to lose that much in one month, but it can be done.
