I Did So Bad This Semester Help

Bad first semester college 1.43 help?

My first college semester was a disaster, I took 9 credits non-major courses and i got 1.43 gpa. I want to turn this around over time since im at a community college ill be here for another 3 semesters or 4 maybe but i would like to bring it up to 2.5-3.0 so i can transfer to Albany University. What if i maintain a 3.0 gpa every semester after this will that be fine im really worried because i did really bad this semester :(

Bad first semester 1.43 gpa college help please?

You should do better next time. Aim for something higher than 3.0 because like one answer puts it, having 3.0 per semester will make your overall GPA when you graduate still lower than 3.

My first semester college GPA is bad?

Just finished my first semester with a 4.00. The ones above me pretty much covered it though.

1) I've always had a problem with asking questions/for help but I got it together recently and it has really paid off. Some lecture classes can have as many as 200 people in it, so do what you can to stand out to all of your professors/instructors. Even if your class isn't that big, still get to know them. They may even cut you a break by the end of the semester, as was the case when I needed an extra day to finish a paper. Having a 1-on-1 with your teacher can be a little intimidating/awkward, so don't hesitate to e-mail them even if it's for a single question.

2) The library has become my best friend. If you have an hour or more in between classes then spend it in the library taking care of work.

3). The biggest factor is what you do outside the classroom. Just cause you don't have "homework" doesn't mean there isn't work to be done. Don't be afraid to get ahead that way you aren't cramming as your due dates approach.

4). You may want to try to get involved in an RSO (Registered Student Organization) or study group. You'll have other students who are in your same position at your disposal for not only academic help, but mentoring/advice as well.

Not sure about your school, but all the freshman at my university are assigned an academic adviser. This would be a great person to go to if you're having problems inside or outside the classroom. Even if everything is fine, it's still nice to keep in touch and be able to give them good news about your progress as a student.

If I get a 2.5 GPA in my first semester of college, is that bad?

The first semester of college can be a tough adjustment. You are on your own for the first time. There are a lot of tempting distractions. Mom isn’t nagging you to get out of bed and get to class. Your Dad isn’t bugging you to study. So getting a 2.5 the first semester can happen—even to a 4.0 GPA high school student.Just how good a high school student were you? For example, if you were a 2.9 student in high school, a 2.5 in college shouldn’t be a big surprise.Have you identified a marketable major? The longer you go without a marketable major the greater the risk of not succeeding in college.Do you have a scholarship that is now at risk? (A 3.0 is pretty standard to maintain your scholarship.)You are taking the introductory classes now. The work is going to get harder. Are you racking up student loan debt? If yes, your risk is increasing every period. If you are a good student and learn from this experience, you can recover from this weak start. Otherwise, you are likely to be one of the 44% who drop out or one of the 29% who graduate and end up under employed or unemployed.College today is a competition, and you have fallen behind in the race by 1.5 yards.

HELP! REALLY BAD JUNIOR YEAR FIRST SEMESTER GRADES!?

So first off I am a good student. A's and B's, a C here or there in Math (but never as an end of the year grade). But today I got my report card for my first semester of junior year.

I got an A plus in Service Learning, a B plus in Theatre, C pluses in AP English, AP U.S. History, Honors Spanish 3, and Trig, and last and worst a D plus (so close to a C) in Honors Chemistry. My Chemistry teacher won't budge and give me the .05 of a point to get a C so needless to say I've been crying for the past five hours.

If I can get all A's this next semester I can secure a 3.9 GPA.

Currently with my grades I have a 3.4 and I'm in the top 25% of my class.

Will colleges still accept me if I get stellar SAT scores and all A's this semester? Or am I screwed? I have really unhelpful teachers this year, but I know I can get all A's if I really just drop everything and devote the rest of the year to studying.

One bad semester of high school?

School has always been a top priority for me. In my Freshman year of high school, I got straight A's both semester. During my Sophomore year, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. At the time I was taking 6 classes, two of which where Honors, and one AP (Euro). Regardless of all the stress and chaos at home, I managed to get by both semesters with A's & B's in all of my classes. Determined to give myself an even greater challenge, my junior year (this year) I registered for the following classes:

AP American Lit
AP US History
Math Analysis Hnrs.
AP Physics B
French 3
& I also one free TA period.

My mother's condition worsened greatly over the summer, and about a month into my junior year, she died.
My grades plummeted. I lost all focus in school. In the last month of the semester (January) I tried desperately to raise my failing grades. I wasn't able to do much, somehow I managed to raised my F in AP US history to a C. Anyway, my final semester grades that I just received a few days ago were the following:

AP Lit: B
AP US History: C
Math Analysis Hnrs.: C
AP Physics : D
French 3: B

I was especially disappointed over the D in Physics, mainly because I had always been planning on majoring in a physics-related field. Because of this D, I have to re-take my first semester of AP Physics next year-but my applications will be sent in before that semester ends, so colleges won't see the grade, just that I'm re-taking the class.

This semester pretty much massacred my GPA, and I've never been more determined in my life to redeem myself.

So, my question is:
If I am able to get all of my grades up to A's & B's for my 2nd semester, will my one bad semester of junior year (which I realize is the most important) completely ruin my chances of getting accepted to a 4-year college? I'm a resident of California, and will be applying to all the UC's. I'm hoping for UC Irvine, UC SB, UC San Diego, maybe Santa Cruz. Initially, I always aimed for UCLA, but I highly doubt that as a possibility now. I don't want to move very far from home, because I don't want to leave my dad alone.

Bad grades first semester of junior year?

I've always been a straight A student. My current GPA is 3.95. This semester, I have 3 Bs, 2 Cs, and an A. I'm absolutely devastated...I was dealing with some stress at home this semester, with my mom's bipolar and addiction problems, and our relationship is kind of falling apart. Regrettably, this reflected in my grades. I want to get into University of Washington.
I'm feeling better about second semester, and I know that if my focus is there I can get straight As. Anyways, is this enough to not get me accepted?
