I Dont Think I Can Get Into Nursing School

What if I can't get into Nursing school?

Can you restart somewhere else and just get a fresh GPA? LIke don't transfer the credits and grades you already have from Madison? I don't know if that's possible or not, but you should look into it.

Some 2-year schools have agreements with nursing schools - if you complete their requirements and meet a relatively low GPA, you can transfer right into the nursing programs. I know UW-Waukesha has a program like that with the Columbia College of Nursing, and Columbia has a guaranteed clinical program for it's students. Maybe you could transfer there and take whatever classes you still need to take to make the transferring requirements and your old GPA from Madison might not even matter because I think the required GPA to transfer there is well under 3.0.

I really hope things work out for you! Good luck :)

Oh... I looked for you. http://www.ccon.edu/doc/Page.asp?PageID=...

check out that link. You should check the UW system credit transfer wizard on it's website and see if your classes you've already too can transfer as any of the classes on that list and then maybe you can take the rest at waukesha or something like that. It says you need at least a C in those classes, and your average is above a C, so things might work out for you. :) I know it's not UIC, but it'll save you money and guarantee you a spot in nursing school.

Is 45 too old for nursing school?

At 45, you are at a really good age to star(t) a career in nursing. If I would have gone to school when I was 45 it would not have made any difference to my interest, passion and enthusiasm. Sure it will be a little late if you compare to your classmates who are in their 20s. If you would have compared yourself with your classmates, then they become your standards instead of you.I never stopped going to school after my BSN. In fact, I never stopped going to school at all. Until I finished my doctorate in nursing. There is just no more degree after that level. But what I did was to engage myself in continuing education programs, both as the student and as the resource person at different times. At 49 I am still pursuing both with the same vigor that I did when I first started nursing school about 15 years ago.I was 36 when I joined nursing school. We were 86 students in our class, 14 were full-fledged medical doctors, and a good percentage of retirable or retired teachers, office workers, policemen, soldiers, lawyers, accountants, dentists, engineers, and a few plain housekeepers. The average age bracket of that class was 48. That means to say, we had classmates whose ages ranged between 50–65.No, 45 is not too old for nursing school. No age is too old for nursing school. If you start school at 45 and you finish at 48 or 49, you have 15 years to start practicing and working, and a lifetime of honing your skills. But here is the thing: we don’t age in nursing. If we do, the process is graceful.

What is nursing school like?

Nursing programs are now available at many schools. A Bachelaureate trailed nurse is proven to help reduce mortality rates in hospitals, so a nursing degree from a 4-year college or university is more prized (and will command more money) than a degree from a trade or two-year school. Also spcialties, such as nurse anesthetist, command well over six figures in any area of the country. If you have good scores and can get accepted, a university program will offer excellent options. When applying to schools ask for their licensing pass rate. The good schools are 80%+ while national averages, which change depending on the exam, can be in the 60%+. Also, ask the retention rate for sophomore to junior and junior to senior class years. This will give you a feel for the way students view the program. It should be in the 90%'s. Even if you don't think you can get into a university nursing program, interviewing for one is an excellent way to find out more about your options, time commitments, and more--and may help you make a strategy for following this excellent career path.

How hard is it to get into nursing school?

it should be relatively easy, especially with a good GPA like a 3.0. they are always looking for more nurses.

What should I do if I don't get accepted into any nursing school?

Keep trying until you do get in. It’s not easy by any means. Do not feel that you are defeated and will not be able to become a nurse. I’ve been in nursing for 10 years and sometimes on the beginning, I felt that I wasn’t going to get in, I wasn’t going to survive through it, and then I felt that I wasn’t going to pass my NCLEX but I did. If you do not get in this time, keep trying! All I am saying is that eventually when you chase your dream and you complete it , you will look back and see that maybe that time that you got did denied going to nursing school that it was a blessing because it gave you time to do other things and focus and strive harder for it!I am thinking of you! Many good vibes, I know your feeling dear! You can do this!

Can I get into nursing school with a C in anatomy?

One C among a whole bunch of A's isn't going to pull you down further than a 3.75 so you are still good to go.

But of all all the classes to pull a C Anatomy is really the worst possible! Physiology and all kinds of classes build on Anatomy, and considering your major, that class in particular should be an A.

Perhaps you can audit or do-over the class again this coming semester and focus on it for an A. You need the base knowledge to continue on.

But wait! You aren't done with this class! You are only worrying that you won't do well. Get off the Y!A website and get back to the books. Find a study buddy that can help you pick up the pieces and bring your grade up. Go back over the notes and tests and figure out where you messed up. Focus on your classes and forget the men or the other students. This class is more important than any of them.

Good luck.
Babe

Have a baby or go to nursing school??

personally I think kids need you more as they get older and being there when they get home from school is very important so I think you need to decide what is most important to you would you regret waiting if it means not being able to conceive ? How do you know how long it will take for you to get pregnant it could take a while so will you regret not using that time?
What is more important to you?

How did you handle the stress of nursing school?

I am currently in nursing school also and I will be graduating in May of 09. I agree with you that nursing school is stressful and it consumes every minute of your life. Personally, I think it is one of the hardest majors out there because it requires so much from you....mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially. Here is what I have done to handle my stress: I take Sundays or Saturdays completely off (I don't even think about school)...plus you owe it to yourself to have some me time, I have a planner and I plan out everything that I have to do (for example: I schedule out the time and days I need to study for an upcoming test, schedule the times I am have to go to clinicals) this makes it really easy to manage everything because I can see what is ahead in the week, workout 3 days a week for at least 30 minutes (studies have shown it helps with stress) and I think it does, and I take naps as much as I can to catch up on sleep, plus I don't stay up late I try to get in bed by 10:00pm because cramming for tests or reading doesn't help if you are tired...your brain can't take in the info you are learning.

I would think of a routine that would help you but remember that nursing school is very stressful and it is hard for everyone. So you are no alone out there! I wish you the best of luck in nursing school and I am glad to see some other nursing students out there :-) If you have any other questions or concerns hit me up through my blog where I blog about my nursing adventures because I know just what you are going through!
