I Found A Baby Bird Now What

I found a baby bird in my pool, it is still alive, but what do i do??? Can anyone help! it is urgent.?

Ok a lot of what to do depends how old the bird is. Here is a website that will help. Do you have a local conservation agency you can contact? They would take care of it for you. Give me more information and I can tell you a lot more. Are you wanting to care for this bird yourself? Is there a nest nearby? If so watch for more. Right now it is important to keep it warm. If its temperature feels low you might put a heating pad on VERY low outside of the towel. I have cared for baby birds before so I will help you the best I can. Let me know please. I will look for more info to add. If it is a baby don't feed it bird seed. I use canned dog food, rolled into small balls dipped in a mixture of egg and milk. Know it sounds strange but it works.

I found an injured baby bird. What do I feed it?

I’m sorry but I have to totally disagree with Nicole Speed. She is 100% wrong. Every licensed wild bird rehabber feeds non-raptor baby birds dry dog food that has been soaked in water until it is rather like a sponge. Every single one. Dry dog food is the go-to rehabber food for baby birds, if they are not hawks, owls, or falcons of some sort. I’ve raised dozens and dozens of baby birds on dry dog food and so has every single other rehabber I have ever had contact with. I do use dry cat food for a crow, blue jay, or other bird that eats a lot of insects because it has a higher protein content. In other words you are doing the right thing. The only thing I would suggest that you do differently is feed the little spud using a tweezers with blunted ends, not chopsticks. If he is pooping a lot, you are doing very well. That means he’s eating well. You should definitely try and find an actual wild bird rehabber. If you live in the US, there are three places you can call to ask about local rehabbers.Veterinarians. Most of them have a list of the local rehabbers, even if they don’t do wild animals themselves. The State Fish and Game or Fish and Wildlife or Wildlife Conservation department. They keep a list of rehabbers, because rehabbers have to be licensed. You’ll find them listed in the phone book under State Offices, or search for “Fish and Wildlife YourState,” go to the website and look for the list of Game Wardens and call the one for your county.County Sheriff. Most County Sheriff departments have a list of wildlife rehabbers in the county. Use the “non-emergency” number. You may also find wildlife rehabbers by doing a search on “Wildlife Rehabilitator, YourCity” or “YourCounty.” These days many rehabbers have websites. If you are outside the US, the laws differ. You might still find a rehabber by calling vets, the equivalent of the State Fish and Game Department, or local police, or doing a web search.

What do I feed a baby bird?

I found a baby bird in our back yard and i dont know what to feed it.....it has spikes for feathers and is about 4 inches long. I have dealt with 2 baby squirrels before and they survived and then i set them free. Now i found a baby bird and i think it may be a blue jay(not sure) and it is still relatively small and i dont know what to feed it.
Any answers would be greatly appreciated...=)

I found a baby bird, he wont open his mouth to eat!?

You shouldnt be feeding him just bread....you need to get specially made food for baby birds (you can buy hand rearing mix, but this stuff called egg and biscuit is pretty good as well, and its much cheaper)......how old is it? ...if its old enough to drink water, put some honey in some luke warm water and place its beak in the bowl (dont cover the nostrils), if you get it to drink it might want to eat

:)

How to help baby bird, found nearly drowned?

Is this bird fully feathered, or mostly bald?? If fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling that has left the nest on it's own and is being cared for by it's parents until it learns to fly. If not injured, and once it is dry and rested, you can put it back near where you found it in a tree or scrub where hopefully a predator will not get it. You can watch from a hidden area to see if the parents are coming to feed it. If they see you they will not come. Keep in mind, visits to feed can be quick, you may miss it if you look away for too long. If after a while (an hour or so) you see no parents, take the bird to a wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival. If it is mostly bald...look for a nest near where you found him, and you can replace him into the nest. Do not worry about your scent being on him, birds have a poorly developed sense of smell, the parents will not abandon due to this. If no nest can be found...once again your only option is a rehab. Look here for one in your area:

We found a fallen bird’s nest with 3 baby birds and an egg. What should we do?

See if you can put it back from where it fell, or at least in a protected are, then the parent birds may do what is instinctive and care for them. The old “ you touch a wild baby animal/ bird/ critter, the mother will reject it” theory is nonsense and bs, totally FALSE!!! Their best chance is to let nature do what nature does, touching them has little to no effect. Leave them accessible for the parents, and watch over them so that predators cannot easily get them. Sometimes the best overall option is the hardest one, but life and nature is a balance and not always seems fair and can even cruel to our senses. If there is a local wildlife rehab facility, animal control, shelter…by all means call them… just DO NOT act first on your own, by gathering the nest & birds & egg and then putting it in a box or other removal options….unless the rehab specifically advises you to do so, to bring the birds to them !FYI- not only do most well wishers who interfere end up killings with kindness, most wild birds and their nests are infested with tiny mites that can transfer to your home, pets and even you.

I found this bird in my balcony. What should I do to save her?

She is a baby bird . Most probably a pigeon, I may be wrong as I am not an ornithologist.First thing you can do is search for the nest nearby, her being a small bird would not have moved much distance away from the nest. Probable locations could be spots like AC, vents , trees, and something similar near your floor, or even a floor above. If found, just gently put the bird there with some semi solid food and water. If not found, you may have to feed and nurture her till she grows up. If you do not have supporting conditions for that, you can find a nearby animal/bird shelter and get her adopted there.
