I Got In A Fight Now I Have A Swollen Eye

My cat got into a fight and his eye is swollen, what should I do?

My cat came in last night and I noticed his eye wasn't open all the way when he was looking at me. I didn't think much of it until I took a closer look and saw a bloody scratch on his ear and down by the corner of his mouth. I let it go because it was midnight and there was nothing I could do about it. This morning, the whole left side of his face was so swollen he couldn't open his eye. I gave him some antibiotics that he had left over from a UTI infection, then I gave him another dose when I got home from work. It seems like the swelling on his face has gone down a lot, but his third eyelid is partially covering his eyeball. His eye isn't leaking any fluid, and there isn't any yellowish discharge that you would see with an infection. I do not want to spend the money to go to the vet, just to have them prescribe more antibiotics; however, I hate seeing him like this. I need to know if this is just part of the healing process, or if this is something that has to be taken care of by the vet. Again, I have enough antibiotics to treat any kind of infection. I am just wondering if he might need some kind of surgery or something?

I got in a fight now I have a swollen eye?

I got in a fight yesterday and I got hit in the eye. Now my eyes are huge and swollen. The top and bottom are swollen and when I blink I tear up. I also can not stay in bright places cause there is a sharp pain even when I hold on to it. What does that mean? Is it possible that I can go blind. How can I protect it from the light? Is there anyway that I can try to cover it up? How long does it take to heal? I'm really scared. When I close my eyes its like I see bugs crawling in my eye. Like I'm so scared. Someone please help me.

My cat's eye was swollen and now has spread to the other eye. What can I do without going to the vet?

I agree with most of the sentiments here regarding whether you should be keeping pets or not, if you won’t take her to the vet, but as someone pointed out, perhaps when you got your cat you had more money so worry about money may make you oblivious to what is obvious to others.I had money when I got my three cats but over the years that has diminished. However, I kept up the pet insurance (which doesn’t cover everything, and there is an ‘excess’ to pay of about £100 for each claim) and if someone said ‘hand over your cats to a shelter’ then just consider your reaction to that. If you are ‘not that bothered’ if she goes or not, then do it. It will be in her best interests to find someone who DOES care.If you think that you couldn’t live without her, then that’s where you start. You make your cat your priority as I do my three and adjust your spending of money accordingly.I sell stuff on ebay, I send CDs, DVDs to Music Magpie, I sell books to similar companies. My grocery bill is in this proportion: 3/4: cat food, 1/4 my food. I buy food on its sell-by date for me, to eat or freeze. (I try to eat healthily so don’t stuff myself with too much cheap ‘rubbishy’ foods, and it’s amazing what you can make smoothies with, so that you can stay healthy.) My cats don’t like the really cheap food (false economy), and I can’t afford the REALLY expensive food, so they have mid-range food but I ring the changes so they don’t get bored. One of mine has to have ‘special’ food as she has pancreatitis so that is an extrea expense.Once you decide that this helpless little cat is your priority, it is amazing what you are prepared to do for her.Yes, a vet’s payment plan or (if you are in the UK) finding your nearest People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals, where treatment is free or as near as), will be the best thing you can do for kitty. And do it SOON - like today!I wish you luck.

Quickest least painfuo way to get rid of eye swollen from a fight?

Not being a complete idiot, and also because I can barely see over the big purple lump under my eye, I know I was given a pretty good soon to be black eye! I was punched underneath my eye half an hour ago and it keeps swelling. Mind you my eyes are usually sunken so the extending bump under my eye really is swelling.
Now, I have no doubts it will get worse since it kinda is worse than these 5 minutes photos already.
So I need a miracle cure.
Also rate how bad my eye is and how bad it's gonna get. Best rating wins points.

Swollen eye after cat being neutered?

some vets put a gel in the eye to help them stay lubricated while they are sedated, but this should not cause the eye to swell. Chances are your kitty was exposed to a virus of one sort or another and is fighting off a cold. I would highly highly recommend you call your vet and report the symptom. Chances are they will want you to come back in for a recheck, and give you either some ointment for the eye or some antibiotics or both (ok, when I say give, I mean sell you)

a lot of cats are lethargic for over 24 hours, but when you say very, that concerns me. I would absolutely call the vet and report that as well. there could be even more issues other than the eye going on here.

Can you put ice on a dog's swollen eye?

My big dog and little dog got into it last night. And the little dog's eye is swollen this morning. I checked it out and it is not infected just swollen shut like he got in a fight. What can I do to make the swelling go down???

How do I treat a hamster with a swollen eye?

It is something that needs to be seen by a vet. A swollen eye could be a number of different things. It could be an infection or abscess and need antibiotics, or it could be a tumour that needs removing. But you definitely need to take your hamster to a vet. In a good sized pet carrier with plenting of bedding inside, a little house to hide in, some food and a piece of cucumber as they’ll be going without water for a while. If the eye was just sticky or sore you could try bathing it, but you’d still need to see a vet really as eye infections can get out of hand. If bathing it then salt water is good, but you only need about a teaspoon of salt dissolved in about 2 pints of water. Very dilute. The easiest way is to add a teaspoon of salt to a pint of boiling water so it dissolves quickly, then add another pint of cold water to cool it down. If it’s still too hot add more cold water until it is just tepid or lukewarm - verging on the cold side. You can use a cotton bud dipped in the water but be careful not to get strands of cotton left in the eye, so change cotton buds after one use. Also you’ll need to pick a time to do it when the hamster is less active as they will wriggle and be difficult to do it without stressing them out or them hurting themselves trying to break free. Sometimes mid evening is a good time. They tend to be quite active early and late evening but can be a bit dozy and having a nap mid evening. But you know your hamster so you’ll know when their nap times are. Give them 5 or 10 minutes to wake up a bit - they can be pretty grumpy if woken! But as the eye is swollen - do see a vet. It isn’t always expensive for a visit and you’ll get good advice and know how to proceed. Sadly older hamsters do have a tendency to get tumours, but sometimes it’s a cyst that can be drained.
