I Got My Lip Pierced And After A Week It

I got my lip pierced about 3 weeks ago, but its still red and kind of hurts. Is it normal?

Everyone’s body is different, but if you are concerned about it at all, you should definitely check with your piercer. There is definitely going to be a prolonged period of slight pain associated with getting a piercing, especially when you get a sensitive area such as the lips pierced. I wouldn’t worry too much.If you are experiencing the following symptoms at this point, you should probably see your piercer immediately. I do not recommend going straight to a doctor as they may not realize how to properly treat a piercing infection, but this is a piercer’s area of expertise.SwellingLots of BleedingDischargeA Bad SmellRashFeverI hope there isn’t any issues with your piercing! With proper care, it will continue looking great for years to come. And, if you’re looking to change your jewelry, feel free to check out my shop!

Can i change my lip piercing after a week?

You CAN, But it will be harder for you to guide the new piece of jewelry through the fresh hole.

A new piercing requires at LEAST 3 weeks to remove, and strechings need at least 8-10 days(depending on the severity of the gauge jump)

As a professional body modificationist, I suggest you leave your piercing alone for at least a month, keeping it clean, and not touching it with your fingers.

You don't wanna try and re insert new jewelry and miss the spot entirely.

Also, The monroe is an annoying area to screw a flatback onto, So make sure your hands are really clean and dry.

And whatever you do, Don't buy something from Hot Topic or Anywhere in the mall, and think it's acceptable to wear.
(Especially with a NEW piercing!!!)

Cheap jewelry can cause irritation, infection, migration, and rejection over time.

Pay the good money, and get the shop quality metal/glass.

Can I change my lip piercing after 1 week?

I changed my earrings to other ones coz they kept getting caught on my beanies.... It will take longer to heal, but if you keep it well kept it should take much longer than normal...

The metal to look out for is anything with NICKEL in it... AVOID IT!!! Almost everyone is allergic to nickel..... Ask for surgical steel/implant grade...

If you choose to change it, don't change it again.... It aggravates it heaps and makes the swelling worse...

Can i change my lip piercing after 3 weeks?

i just wanted to change it to a shorter bar because it's super long right now and sticks off of my face really far...

it was pierced with a 14 gauge stud.. should i change it to a 14 or a 16?

Can i change my lip piercing after 4 weeks?

I got my lip pierced 4 weeks ago with a stud. I would like to change it to a ring but I'm worried about it closing cause i know if they don't heal all the way they can close right up. I have had really good luck with all my piercings and i clean it well.
Also the stud keeps getting stuck some how so i feel like that making the healing time longer..?

I've had my lip pierced for almost 3 weeks, and it's not still not fully healed still sore, and red. any help?

My lip piercing looks like I did it myself, even though I got it professionally done. It's still sore, and red around it. And i want this to go away. I've tried cleaning it with peroxide and alcohol; but that doesn't seem to help, and I don't really know why it looks like this. I usually have good look with piercings. Any help?

I got my lip pierced almost a week ago, it's still sore, red around it, my skin is peeling all around it, and it's really itchy. Is that normal?

Like others have said. The mouth moves constantly so it takes a while for those piercing to heal. The soreness is expected. The redness means keep a good eye on it and the flaking and or peeling is completely normal. The skin in that area is trying to heal. My snakebite piercings will still sometimes peel after they get chapped, yes that also happens. Don’t use a high alcohol content cleanser inside your mouth. The mouth actually has good bacteria to promote healing and fight off invasive bacteria. Using too much of listerine or similar products will wipe out those good bacteria and irritate the new holes in your body. Remember it’s wounded flesh, you wouldn’t go pouring that in a cut 24/7 so don’t do it to your mouth. Wash your hands before touching anywhere near them and use antibacterial soap to clean them. Clear and white discharge are completely normal. Yellow and green are cause for concern as it most likely indicates infection. Tenderness should begin dying down soon and with it the redness that is a sign of it. The peeling has been a common thing for me over the last six years. No concerns there. And itching is a sign of healing. Which means you’re on the right track. Just be gentle and clean about them.

My lip piercing still hurts?

Ive had my snakebites for about 6 months and sometimes i bump it or sleep on my face and it stings a bit in the morning or it hurts and is sore for a few hours. I currently have 14g studs in which isnt the smartest as it tends to get pulled through the lip (its better to have a stud in when your lip has healed) but when you get it bierced for the first 6 weeks id stick with a longer bar (lip piercing bar/stud) or a hoop. my first lip piercing was 18g and was a single right that was up to high it was stupid to get it done at that gauge didnt hurt at all when i got it done but it got irritated easy because it could be jerked around to easily and i had a reaction to the metal so i got it tapered to 14g.

Heres what to expect with lip piercings.

initial piercing pain is painful and will hurt when you eat or move it or bump it even slightly the first 3 or 4 days then for the first week or so its normal for pain well eating but being a little rough around it wont hurt as bad as the first few days. random sharp pains are normal the first 3 days or so but if your getting sharp pains after id ask your piercer about it.

if your haveing lasting pains in it the day after or so just wait it out if it continues its one of a few things.

infection (dont take the jewlery out, use salt soaks and you can add hydrogen peroxide in a few drops per fl oz- do no swallow ... common sense) if you take the jewlery out it will scab over and contain the infection this is risky and could result in an infection traveling in the blood or keloids and pockets of puss that could burst and leave scars.

to small of gauge - minimum gauge for lip piercings suggested if your thinking of keeping over a year is 16g thats minimum id go with 14g because its least likely to nest (move) and is not going to scar permanently (12g- will usually scar here)

reaction to metal - 316 surgical steel can still give allergic reactions some have nickel in them and other metals even the higher grade of 316l surgical steel can bother some people if your having issues with this id have a piercer switch it out to a titanim jewlery

Remember everyones bodys are diffrent theres allergic reactions, heal times, bodys reactions to foreign objects are diffrent in everyone to some degree so dont panic if you have any other questions email me @ lilmouser11@yahoo.com ive done 300+ piercings to friends and have a few myself

Can I change my new piercings in a week?

If the jewelry is appropriate in terms of style, size, material, and quality, then it should be left in throughout initial healing. Changing jewelry too soon can result in complications including infection (if you change it yourself), excess scar tissue formation (due to trauma), and other issues. If it isn’t causing trouble and is appropriate, don’t change jewelry until you’re fully healed. (Different areas have varying healing times, and you didn’t specify placement.)

How much does a lip piercing hurt?

I hate to be that person, but I sure hope you’re talking about going to a professional with your parents signature and getting it done in a safe clean environment. If we’re talking about having a friend stab a kinda sharp object through your lip, stop right there. It’ll hurt more, take longer to heal, and get infected. Now that you’re done rolling your eyes at me, back to the answer. I had a Monroe piercing. It hurt but not as bad as I thought. It’s a little prick, then a sting, then some blood, and done. You have a lip piercing. You’ll first have to wear a swell bar before you can have any cool jewelry. A swell bar is an extra long labret bar. Your lip is going to swell up for a few weeks and normal sized jewelry can get lost and stuck inside a swollen lip. Don’t try eating anything right after your lip is pierced. Pro tip, be extra careful about biting down on your new piercing. It’ll take getting used to. And most importantly, keep it clean. Buy whatever cleaning fluid your piercer recommends and clean it often. Being in your mouth offers much more opportunity for infection. If I remember correctly, I think the pain and swelling totally stopped after a month and it scarred up around 6 months after that.I say my lip piercing hurt more than my nose piercing, my friend says the opposite. It’s really about your pain tolerance. I wouldn’t let the pain stop you. I’m so afraid of needles but I suffered through literally 60 seconds to have it done. Pain is temporary. Just please, I can’t stress enough, go to a tattoo shop and have a professional do it for you.
