I Got My Septum Pierced 1 Week Ago On The 23rd And .

Just got my septum pierced and it's VERY crooked... what should I do?

How sad for you :(

Although you probably did go to a professional, mistakes can happen. It may just be the swelling, or you may be right that it is crooked. Give it a week or so. To cut down on swelling, don't play with it; hold ice on it, and take an anti-inflammatory if you can. If it still looks bad when your swelling has gone down, go back to your piercer.

DO NOT take it out. If you take it out, your piercer will not be able to see if it is crooked. Go back to your piercer and NICELY tell them what happened. If they are unprofessional about it, ask to talk to the owner or manager. They should re-pierce it for free for you. If not, spread the word about what awful service you got, and go somewhere else.

Good luck!

What can go wrong if you get your septum pierced?

You may think it cool to have piercings in various parts of your body. Have you thought about your future? Do you realize most companies will not hire applicants for positions where the employee must meet the public (meaning receptionists, counter clerks etc) who have piercings in their eye brow, lip, tongue, nose, multiple ear piercings, etc except one or two lower ear lobe piercings for ear rings.

I was just talking to a clerk in a mall booth a couple of days ago. Her employer does not allow piercings and she has to have her tattoos covered when working.

It may be KOOL to have several piercings as a teen but when you graduate and seek employment on this very hard job market you will be left for such jobs as McDonald's or Burger King.

You want to know what is wrong with a septum piercing? Loss of good employment and maybe a deviated septum. Think about it! Is it worth it to be KOOL?

NOTE: Brittany: For your information, I do know what I am talking about, I have been both employee and employer. I have been foreman of businesses on several occasions. I talk to people whom have been passed over because of piercings, and I also have a university degree and more. I am retired from the business world and 73 years of age yet I work 9 1/2 months per year 5 to 6 days per week. So I think I know what I am talking about...how old are you? maybe 23?

How painful is a septum piercing?

I just had mine done. I had read a lot on the subject and I found out that it hurts when you get your cartilage pierced. However, the septum should be pierced in something they call "the sweet spot". This is a thin layer of skin between the tip of your nose and your cartilage. When I decided to get my septum pierced, I made sure the piercer would check for my sweet spot (as I learned, not everyone has it) and she found it, saying I had the best septum for piercing. I really wanted this piercing but I am extremely sensitive to pain. And I told her I had researched as much as I could about this. I was really scared she would make any of the mistakes I found all over youtube. She was super professional. Before I go on talking about the pain, let me just tell you that I found out some videos like this one, in which people complain about some numbness in their faces, some headache, etc. I read that this happens when you hit the cartilage. But I know that each one of us reacts in different ways to pain. I'm not sure if it's supposed to feel like that. But I'm not a piercer. So, what did I feel?First of all, I felt a huge discomfort while she was pushing the clamp. She said she was making sure she had the sweet spot, so she pulled my nose a lot, I was feeling like she was turning it inside out. Then she explained that she was about to pierce. I was already feeling so much pressure, that the needle didn't hurt me much more. I would say it hurt 2/10. And the amazing thing is that as soon as she was over, it didn't hurt at all. I was feeling the ring, felt a tiny bit of burning while she was cleaning, but I was surprised at the fact that it wasn't feeling sore. I went home, cleaned it, and four days have passed. Although I'm careful with it, it still doesn't hurt, it just burns when I clean it in the morning. I even blew my nose already (soflty of course).Ok, maybe I just got lucky with my anatomy, but I wish everyone would have a similar experience. If you're planning on getting one, please do your homework and get yourself a good professional.

Question about my septum piercing?

if you just had it done its probably just from the piercing and will be fine in a few days. With a septum they piercer threw the sweet spot which is a thin piece of skin so they cant hit a nerve.Just clean it twice a day for a few weeks by then it should be feeling a lot better.they heal in about 3 months but should feel better after a week or two.although the tip of my nose was a little tender for a while after.

How long should i wait until i get my septum piercing changed?

I got my septum done 3 weeks ago and been taking care of it, washing it 2-3 times a day but i only have a little horseshoe keeper in at the moment which does not look very good.

I can move my piercing freely with hardly any pain and at a party a few days ago i accidentally knocked it out and it just went back in with ease.
so i assume it wouldn't hurt to just change to a slightly better piercing.

would it be okay to change it within the next week or two?

Septum piercing not straight?

I got my septum pierced on 7-23, so its 4 days old today. I was wondering about it because its a little crooked. But you can only tell that its not straight if I have it flipped up to hide it. You can still see the bar on one side but not the other. But when its down it looks fine. The only time I will have it flipped is at work, well when my boss is around. I had it flipped up while he was here this morning, then right after he left, I went to the bathroom and washed my hands and flipped it back around. Will flipping it that much prolong healing? And on the crooked(ness) since its not that noticeable while its down and normal, should I just let it go and not worry about it being a little off. He pierced it with clamps so that's why I am wondering why its not straight. That's got me a little thrown off. All the piercings I have had with clamps have been straight...or maybe he missed the hole in one side of the clamp...is that even possible?? Here is a picture:
