I Got Pulled Over About 1 Week Ago With No Valid Licnse And He Didn

I have a suspended license in state A but still have a valid license in state B. If I present my valid license in either state, what will likely occur?

When you obtained your license in State B, I’m guessing that your State A license was not yet suspended, that the record hadn’t be promulgated as yet, or they just didn’t check. This was a pretty common ploy when I worked in Reno. We would arrest a Nevada resident/license holder for DUI, which would revoke his license for at least 90 days. Before the record was posted at DMV, the violator would run to Truckee (a California city about 25 miles southwest of Reno) and obtain a California license, using a friend’s address. If they were stopped, they would show the California license and claim they lived in California. The ruse would usually work unless the officer ran a driver’s license check for both California and Nevada. Then, Nevada DMV would show the revocation, and the person would get arrested. Driving on a DUI revoked license in Nevada carries a minimum penalty of 30 days in jail, a $500 fine, and an additional year of license revocation. At the time, California licenses carried a notation on the bottom indicating which DMV office had issued the license. Those of us who were onto the game would immediately run a Nevada records check on anyone with a ‘TRK” (Truckee) office notation.Being the thorough person I am, when I discovered one of these folks, I would also send an NLETS (National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System) message to California DMV, advising them of the problem. This would cause them to revoke the California license for fraudulent application, as one of the questions on the form was “Is your driver’s license suspended or revoked in any state?”Now, many DMV or other license issuing offices will run a 50-state check before they issue a new driver’s license to someone. This takes maybe ten minutes, most of it waiting for all the states to reply. When you present your State B license, it’s always possible that State B will have found out about the State A suspension and suspended your State B license, or that the officer will run your name and date of birth against State A records and will see the suspension. If any of those things happen, you will be cited or arrested for driving on a suspended license. These things have a way of catching up with you.

Getting pulled over for speeding - age profiling. What can I do?

Alright, first off I'm not some punk *** kid. It was sincerely a mistake. I had found out some bad news about my college classes for summer and I was driving home around 2 pm on Friday. I was staying with traffic, but not riding someone's ***. I got pulled over for going 39 in a school zone of 20. It's usually 35 in that stretch and I forgot there was a school since it was a church and no lights were flashing. I'm fine with this it was my mistake. Turns out I have to go to court to get fined, I can't just pay the ticket. It is my first offense and I am almost 19.
The age profiling comes into play here:
The officer walks up to my car and asks to see my license before he even looks at it he doubtingly asked me my age ( I look young, so I understand he was trying to do his job to deter truancy from school and kids under 16 driving) I replied "18, sir." And he scoffs and reads my license then apologizes and proceeds to call me ma'am the res of the time and says "sorry, but I have to give you this ticket since its in a school zone."
My fines are going to be ~$350 and I'm a student with a part time job at an Ice Cream Store. I have to pay in full on my court date two weeks from now or I get fined 30$ extra a day and can get arrested.

Can I ask for an extension and should I bring up age profiling?

I do realize it is the officer's job, but everyone else was speeding I was staying with traffic.

"If everyone else jumped off a bring would you do it too?"
- Well if the person in front of me did and there was a crowd behind me, yes I would. Because I wouldn't want to be trampled to death by the stampede.

No license or insurance and cops let me go?

I just got pulled over and i didn't realize my license expired in february and my insurance policy cancelled a couple days ago (insurance company closed for a few days so i couldnt pay it) Anyways i got pulled over because of my smoked out tail lights and i gave the cop my license & insurance and she searched me, my car & ran my name & i was clear so she let me go with a verbal warning. Am i gonna get a ticket in the mail or something?? Just seems unreal. Lol

Can a police officer pull you over for no reason?!?

The police can't stop you for NO REASON, however, in your instance, there may be many reasons why he stopped you.

If your state has a registration sticker on the license tag, he may have noticed the expired sticker.

Many states allow the polcie the authority to stop persons operating motor vehicles to ensure that they have the proper licensing. Driviing is a privelege, not a right, and a stop for motor vehicle purposes is not Constitutionally protected in the same way as if you were a pedestrian. However, what progresses out of a stop may require 'probable cause" or 'reasonable suspicion' as an antecedent.

Driving below the speed limit at late hours of the night (or early AM) is a frequent indicator of a DUI. The officer has the right to investigate based on his/her training and exoperience with DUIs forming the basis for 'reasonable suspicion'. leading to an investigatory stop that might eventually devlop 'probable cause' for an arrest.

Also, people driving slowly at night, in certain areas, might raise supsicion that some type of criminal cativty was afoot. Again, that can raise 'reasonable suspicion'.

While the officer did not articulate his reasons for stopping yo to you during the stop, I am sure he had a mental check list of articulable facts that he would cite if the stop led to your arrest for some crime. And again, in many states, the 'implied consent' that you give when you accept the driving privelege is often rersaon enough to stop you.

If you are curious about investigatory stops, Google Terry vs. Ohio.

What can happen in the state of MA if you get pulled over only on your permit?

I got pulled over a couple of days ago for speeding (45 on a 30), I don't have a license just a permit, and there was no one else in the car. I didn't get arrested, the car just got towed. And I got a letter in the mail for my court date, speeding & driving without a valid license. I am currently paying off my drivers ed so I can take my road test. Will this stop me from getting my license ? My court date is in a couple of days, I'm really nervous I'm not going to be able to get my license. I'm also moving to Florida in a month and a half. Does that change anything ?
