Anyone with cancer want to answer some interview questions?

I'm a highschooler that needs to interview a cancer patient for a health project. You only have to answer 10 questions so here it goes… What is your age, gender, and type of cancer? How did you respond to learning that you had cancer? Did you act differently? Did it change your perspective on things? How did you tell others (friends/family) when you learned? What do you have to change in your daily life to accommodate for your cancer? What treatments do you have? And how much time/effort do they take? Do they dictate the rest of your life? How does your cancer affect the people around you? Is there anything (like advice) that you would like to share with either a fellow cancer person or someone afraid of getting cancer? Please give some background info on yourself and feel free to give any other info that you feel in necessary. Thanks aton!

Is it okay to refuse chemotherapy for testicular cancer?

Hi,

I recently had a testicle removed on March 1st and it turned out to be a yulk sack tumor 8cm in diameter.

My doctor ordered some blood test the day before the surgery and my AFP tumor marker levels were at 1600, my LDH levels were at about 375.

Also a catscan was done and everything came out fine, nothing had spread.

Two weeks after the surgery, on March 14th, my AFP levels came out to 150 and my LDH had returned to normal.

One month later at April 12th my blood test showed my AFP level at 3.6, withing the normal range.

Having said this, with my blood levels returning to normal and my catscan showing nothing to have spread, my doctor wants me to undergo two rounds of chemo therapy OR have my lymph nodes removed by my abdomen. He said those are my two choices.

But I want to do NEITHER.

I feel healthy, I'm back in the gym, my blood work is normal and I'm happy with the catscan results, I want to tell him I don't want to do either of the things he has suggested. My gut feeling is that I'm fine and I'll be okay without it.

Is this a wise choice on my part?

A few questions about side-effects after chemotherapy is finished?

hi i am 17 years old and about to undergo my 8th out of 8 cycles (last cycle) of chemotherapy. I have hodginks lymphoma, and i have been taking beacopp for the first 6 cycles, and for the last two cycles, a similar dose except for a new drug called cysplatin. Now that my chemotherapy is about to finish, there are a few questions I wanted to ask, hopefully from a professional (I don't feel comfortable asking my doctor these questions, and would rather ask anonymously).

1. I have a LOT of stretch marks ranging from my arms, chest, and stomach, and skin discoloring. My doctor said this is caused by the steroid prednesone i am taking. Question: Will they be able to be removed after the therapy is all over? And if so, Will it go away by itself, or will I have to take some kind of lotion of some sort for it?

2. My hair has obviously fallen off, and I was wondering how long after I have stopped chemotherapy will it start growing back (hair on my head) My eyebrows have already started to grow back but slowly.

3. I have gotten really fat (Big Stomach and a double chin) way fatter than i was before I started, and apparently was also caused by the steroid, prednesone. After stopping taking this medication which i already have, will the excess fat that I got caused from the drug disappear on its own, or will I have to exercise to get rid of it? And if so, what exercise do i do to get rid of a double chin

I know i am male and I shouldnt be so conscious about my appearance, but I wanna look as I was before I started this treatment. Hopefully somebody knowledgeable in this could reply or someone who has gone through it as well.

Thank you so much in advance!
