I Hardly Get Any Sleep

I barely got any sleep last night?

Right now, I am lying in bed, with a massive headache and feeling like my body is full of acid.
I went to bed at around 10pm last night. I had to get up at 7am the next morning for school. I was really excited for school. So I went to bed. My mind was thinking too many thoughts at once. I checked the time it was 11pm, then 12am. The time goes so fast. I tried to shut up my mind, but I started having panic attacks and I didn't get to sleep till 5:30am.

I woke up at 8:15am and I wrote my parents a note saying I couldn't go to school. I cried my eyes out. I don't know why this happens to me. But some nights, I just cant sleep for no particular reason, its not fair. My mom and dad yell at me and say something is wrong with me. But I go so silly when I am tired.

I have always had trouble sleeping. Some nights, I don't sleep. One little worry keeps me awake all night. Its not fair. I feel sick. Its not even lunch time and I feel so fatigued and upset. I cut myself last night, I was so upset.

I am fifteen. Does this happen to anyone else?
What is wrong with me?

I'm scared to sleep while I have my period :(?

Aw bub.

1. Make sure one pad is at the front of your knickers, and one up the back. That stops it escaping from front or back.

2. If it is very heavy and may tip over the sides, wear another pair of knickers with one other pad on, to catch any flow that pours over the sides of the first pair.

3. Clothes won't be RUINED technically, blood comes out of clothes in the washing machine as easy as anything.

4. To prevent pyjama bottoms getting ruined by sleeping, just wear the night shirt, or a nightdress. Wear pj bottoms before you go to bed, if you're wondering about your brothers/dad.

5. Buy a black towel, and put it under your sheet (or on top if you want). The sheet won't get ruined, the blood will come out, easy as.

6. Then under the towel (or the sheet, if you put the towel on top of the sheet) put a black bin liner, because that will protect the mattress.

7. Finally, if you wanna use tampons, go ahead, but change them every 8 hours max. I don't like them personally, but you can if you'd like (still use the precautions on the bed if you'd like)

It's okay honey, don't worry bub xxxx

I barely got any sleep last night and I am exhausted what can I do?

all i can think of is caffeine and lots of water for the headache, since pain killers make you drowsy.

I hardly got any sleep last night and feel like I'm in a fog?

sleep is required to regulate ur metabolic activities.lack of sleep .irregular sleep patterns slow down brains activity as a phase of metabolic activities have been disturbed.if u ave slept 4 hardly 2 hrs or smethng thre is no bttr way than 2 fall asleep otherwise have a cold shower,a cup of hot coffee if u have the habit will do good.or a cup of hot chocolate.its better to regulate sleep intervals as u may land up bcomung an insomniac that comes frm a condition called imsomnia that is lack of peaceful sleep. so hav a nap thtts the best suggestion

What if we didn't get enough REM sleep?

Lack of REM sleep in humans can cause psychological disturbances such as anxiety, aggression, hallucinations, and trouble concentrations, as well as an increase in appetite for food and sex and pleasure seeking. Oddly enough, the latter qualifies REM-deprivation as having anti-depressant benefits. In animals, lack of REM sleep makes learning impossible, but this doesn't seem to happen in humans. Eventually animals deprived of REM sleep die, which would probably happen in humans too but this has never been tested, both because that would be very illegal and because we've never been able to 100% eliminate REM sleep from human patients the way we can in animals. If you just don't get enough REM sleep for a night or two, your next night you will get to REM faster and spend more time there. This suggests REM is important enough that your body makes up for lost time, but non-REM is also critical to survival, especially considering you spend most of your bedtime there. The problem is that NREM sleep comes in different stages and we can't get rid of them all, but deprivation of Stage 4 NREM causes physical symptoms of discomfort and malaise in humans and, again, death in animals. Both are important, so get a good night's sleep!

What happens to someone if they don't get any REM sleep?

As far as we know, it is not really possible to prevent REM sleep in the long run. After a couple days it will force itself into other parts of sleep even if you get woken up every time it starts (as in a sleep lab). After some more days, it will force itself into your waking life. You will start having hallucinations or pass straight from waking to dreaming without meaning to fall asleep, similar to narcolepsy. Whenever you are sleep deprived, REM and delta (slow wave) sleep are the two that force themselves into your life no matter what. NREM sleep in the alpha and theta bands seem to have lower priority. While slow-wave sleep is mainly for the restoration of the body, it seems that REM sleep is essential for the mind to function optimally. As mentioned, lack of this sleep can lead to hallucinations, but long before that it increases the error rate across a wide range of mental activities. In particular, one of the first losses is the ability to notice that you have made a mistake, whether it is a typo or a bad investment. Even a moderate shortage of REM can lead to changes in the regulation of emotion: It becomes harder to control basic impulses regarding food, sexuality and aggression. The world generally appears less pleasant and friendly. (An exception is some forms of clinical depression in which the normal mood-lifting effect of sleep is reversed.) Learning seems to require both REM and slow-wave sleep to work optimally; there is still some disagreement on which is most important. But lack of REM sleep will make it harder to learn, at least to some degree. As far as we know, you don't actually die from lack of REM sleep as such. You can die from complete lack of sleep, such as in the disease Familial Fatal Insomnia. But if your brain is physically able to sleep, then REM will eventually assert itself.

What happens if someone doesn't get any deep sleep?

As a frequent victim of sleep deprivation myself, I don’t recommend it at all. It is miserable. Nothing in your body works properly. You get weak. You can’t think. You can’t focus. Your emotions are out of whack. You get out of breath after barely any effort. You shake. You’re dizzy. You can’t stand up. Everything is sore. You start getting cold sweats and hot sweats. Your stomach gets upset and rushes through digesting food. Your mouth and eyes dry out. Your nose drips. Your ears get stopped up. Even your fecking teeth hurt and even you skin feels like it’s not doing it’s job properly, and I’m not entirely sure what the skin even does in the first place.

I rarely sleep and eat as low as possible for last 3-4 months and I am still energetic. I feel totally invisible and my body has grown a lot of muscles and my brain now work on a whole different level. Even after 2 or 3 sleepless night I still feel energetic. What has happened to me?

Your body is secreting natural painkillers to deal with the damage induced by not sleeping enough. This can cause a temporary "natural high" which will eventually crash. Lack of sleep can cause memory loss, higher risk of Alzheimer's, etc. Please get enough sleep and good nutrition. You probably think you've grown muscles because you've lost weight from not eating and you can now see the muscles that were under fat before. If anything your muscle mass has probably decreased. If you think these changes are legitimate then please speak to a doctor immediately so they can figure out what's happening.Sourced from a lot of psych/bio textbooks.
