I'm trying to order contacts...?
To start with, it looks like you are trying to order contacts using an eyeglasses presription! If the site is only asking for one number for each eye, it sounds like they are spherical (not toric) contacts. Because you have astigmatism, (the -1.50 x 173/175 numbers) you need toric contacts. Also, an eyeglasses prescription does not have your diameter or base curve, which is definitely needed for the contacts to fit properly. If the contacts don't fit right, it can possibly cause some serious eye problems. You really ought to get a proper exam & fitting for contacts. Added: OK it is a valid prescription, but the problem is, it is a prescription for GLASSES! If you wanted to get contacts, when you called to set up the appointment, you needed to say something to the effect of: "I want to get contacts" if you don't specify, they assume you want an exam for glasses. There are additional tests done for a contact exam that are NOT done for glasses, thus, you don't have the diameter and base curve for the contacts which is very important to insure they fit properly. Also, sometimes the prescription for contacts is not quite the same as for glasses. Anyway, if you do get contacts, you definitely need to get the toric ones, because of your level of astigmatism, the closest spherical ones will not be close enough to your prescription to work acceptably.
