I Have A 2002 Mazda Protege With A Blown Engine. I Just Bought A 2003 Mazda Protege Engine. Will

No heat, heat not hot enough, in car 2000 Mazda 626?

Their is different types of cooling systems. First of all you need to check the flow to you heater core. If one side of t he hose is hot to the heater valve you know to getting their ok. Next is to check the hose that is leaving the heater core. This would tell you if proper flow is going through the core. My guess would be either a heater core is plugged or your heater value is not opening all the way.
These hoses are located close to the fire wall of the vehicle. Different cars have different locations. Check Mazda Hanes repair manual to see where location it. Also it should give you more information about checking and maybe flushing your system...

I want to sell my car. I have a 2002 Mazda Protege. How much is it worth?

My motor is blown, but there is a new radiator.. ? there is little rust and in good condition. it has somewhere around 131,000 miles. I tried to blue book it. and i got $2,700 dollars for fair condition. But i don't believe that is right considering the motor. please help.

My car (02 Mazda Protege) is losing antifreeze. Is a leak the first thing I should look for?

Ok long story short: I have an 02 Mazda Protege. I've owned the car for two years, never had any problems with the fluids. I just had to completely fill the antifreeze two months ago and it's now almost completely empty again. (I hadn't had to fill it at all prior to that. Between being serviced and my father checking stuff it may have been filled twice prior.) So my question is does an engine "use" more antifreeze as the car ages like it does with oil or do I need to check for leaks? (I haven't seen anything yet.)

Anyone had problems with a Mazda Protege 5 engine?

I've seen many of them come into the shop that I work at. Non of them needed anything outside of regular maintenance (except for three of them that needed the A/C recharged. Those are great vehicles. Like Mazda Tech said, yours was either poorly maintained or you just had bad luck. Get a second opinion too. I had a horrible noise coming from the left front of a Protege I used to own. I went to four mechanics and two tranny shops. First the mechanics all told me that the noise my car was making was my transmission going bad. Of course none of the estimates were under $1,000. I then went to two different transmission shops and both of them said that the noise was my speedometer cable. Turned out to be the speedometer cable. $110 later, I was good to go. What I'm trying to say is get a second or third opinion before taking the next step. Take it to a Mazda specialist. Cars are similar but no car is the same.

I overfilled my car's engine with engine oil, can that harm my engine?

I felt obligated to answer this because I saw many answers I did not agree with. Being ASE certified in the category of engine repair and engine performance, I can tell you why overfilling your car with oil is very bad and can damage the bearings in the engine. The rule of thumb is not to fill more than 1/2 quart over the specified capacity. As we know with Pascal’s law, a liquid cannot be compressed, but it can be pressurized. Your oil pump pressurizes the oil to be sent to various places inside the engine; this pressurized oil is squirted through small holes in the bearings where the crankshaft and camshafts ride on oil pressure and do not make direct contact with your bearings. This greatly reduces friction and the load is supported solely by the pressure of the moving fluid. This is why each car has a recommended oil weight and viscosity by the vehicle's manufacturer based on bearing clearance. If your oil is filled up enough to where the crankshaft can dip into the oil it will cause aeration in the oil. This turns the oil into a foam with pockets of air and as we all know a gas CAN be compressed. This aerated oil goes into your oil pump and the oil pump compresses the air effectively reducing oil pressure in the engine. This can lead to main bearing damage, rod bearing damage, cylinder wall scoring, camshaft journal damage to name a few and can lead to catastrophic engine failure, in a worst case scenario. Most vehicles have an oil dipstick, on the dipstick you will notice a minimum and a maximum fill range. The distance between these marks is usually one quart of oil. You can tell how much your vehicle is overfilled based on this distance.Edit: I wanted to thank you all for the views and upvotes but also I wanted to add some more information. On the 2nd generation Prius, if the engine oil is overfilled by more than a half quart, the PCV system will suck the excess oil through the throttle body and stall the engine. We have seen some come back on a flatbed after quick lube changed the oil. Once you drain the oil a little the engine will be able to run again.

What causes the car radiator's water to be brown and bubbling?

Coolant becomes brown from rust. If your coolant is brown, the coolant needs to be drained and the system flushed before it can be filled with fresh coolant. If the coolant is bubbling, there is a good chance that combustion gases from the cylinders are making their way into the coolant. This can happen either as a result of a blown head gasket or a head gasket that has been broken down by corrosion. It could also be caused by boiling coolant. So a chemical test will need to be performed to determine if combustion gases are entering the water jackets. If they are, then the head(s) will need to be removed and resurfaced, and the head gasket(s) replaced.

Used Toyota Corolla 2003, Honda Civic 2003 or used Mazda Protege 2003, which one to buy?

Would like to ask experienced people, which one is better to buy as a used car in terms of reliability, engine, gas consumption, maintenance cost, safety measures, etc...

What are the perfect tires that work for a Mazda Protégé?

Yup, as Bluto suggests, go to tirerack.com. I am assuming your Protege is either a DX or LX model if you are running on 15 inch tires. Yes, the proper sized tire for your Mazda is indeed 195/55-15. You should stick with at size if you wish your Protege to handle and control as it was designed. There are several good quality, long lasting, tires available in the 195/55-15 size. Also note your original equipment tire for your specific vehicle calls for a V speed rated tire. You should stick with at as well. Most tire outfitters will only install a V rated tire on your automobile so you need to keep your shopping choices limited to such. Consider the following for your top choices:

Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S ($119 a tire)
If you have the cash this is the best tire available in you needed size. Great performance and long lasting.

However, if you are on somewhat of a budget any of the following would be outstanding choices:

Firestone Precision Touring ($89)

General G-MAX AS-03 ($84)

Yokohama AVID ENVigor ($89)

Kumho Ecsta 4X or Kumho Solus KH16 ($79 and $83, respectively)

I own a set of the Yoko AVID ENVigors on my 2000 Protege ES. Love 'em. Outstanding performance, excellent grip, both wet and dry, and fuel economy. Highly recommended.

Will a car jump start with a bad starter?

How to Start a Car with a Bad Starter? The tips described below are the best possible ways to instill life into a dead starter. Try them one by one until you find a solution.Check the ConnectionsThe starter is an electric motor and a part of an electrical circuit. It sets the engine of a vehicle in motion. So, the engine won’t respond if there is an issue with the battery or the connections. Check the joint of all the connecting cables between the battery and the starter. Tighten everything because a loose connection means less flow of current to the starter.Check the starter for loose connections.Clean the CorrosionCorrosion could also be the culprit in obstructing the flow of electrical current. The dirt and grease can accumulate on the starter and the battery, and corrode the cable clamps and terminals of the battery. If this is the case, disconnect the battery and use a fine-grade sandpaper to clean the affected areas. It will remove the dirt, stain, and rust. If the corrosion seems pretty stubborn, apply a mixture of water and caustic soda. Be careful about not to damage any connections.SEE MORE:5 Things to Check for Car Hard Starting ProblemsHow to Diagnose an Engine that Doesn’t Start?Tap with a ToolIt’s another simple trick to the manual of how to start a car with a bad starter. If the starter is dead but the windshield wipers and headlights are working, the problem could be a stuck gear. The starter cannot function properly if that happens.Give the starter a tap about 4 to 5 times with a tool such as a hammer or a wrench. You have to carefully locate its position inside the car and distinguish it from other components. Besides, the taps should be gentle so that the part is not damaged.Tapping the starter with a hard tool might be effective.Sometimes, this method works even if the starter is actually bad. In that case, tapping will provide a temporary fix but the car could be dying anytime soon.Give the Car a Good ShakeIt’s another trick to release a stuck gear. However, you should do it only when you are a noob and don’t have the expertise to open the hood and locate the starter. Push down the vehicle’s handbrake lever while it is in top gear. It will rock the car and may loosen the jammed gear in the process.Ref: Find best deals of used cars from reliable Japanese sellers

Car has blue smoke coming from exhaust!!?

Black/blue smoke is an indicator that the oil is seeping past the piston rings and into the burn chamber and burning with the fuel.

That would explain why you're using a lot of oil.

White smoke would indicate the same thing for water/antifreeze burning instead of oil. This could result from a cracked block.
