I Have A Big Decision To Make And Cant Decide What To Choose

I can't decide between the army and the USMC?

Okay, I'm thinking about joining the military once I get out of high school, but I can't decide whether I want to join the army or the Marines. Okay, here are the pros and cons that are making me so indecisive.

ARMY

Pros:
Better technology
Wider range of job options
Main fighting force of the United States
Bigger, with more specialties

Cons
ACU sucks
Not as well-trained
Strictly land-based
Is slower

USMC

Pros
Wider range of better camouflage
Better trained
Can work in sea, air or land
Gets to work directly under the President

Cons
Is part of the navy (I don't prefer the navy)
Barely any job options
Relies on the navy for too much
Doesn't have as good equipment

Can't decide my life/career path? So many options!?

I would seriously propose that you consider freelance journalism or writing jobs, because of its flexibility and the very high income earning potential. The main condition is that that you need to be genuinely interested in this field and then of course get some writing assignments that are really worth it. If you are a naturally talented writer and able to express yourself in a manner where you can both educate and entertain your readers, then you already have all the abilities to make a big success in journalism or even novel writing. I would recommend that you go to the website called http://freelancewritingnet.com and take a look at what is on offer, because sometimes you do need the right information for that all important kick-start.

How can I decide easily?

Here’s a trick I learned in one of my social psychology classes that hasn’t failed me yet. It is a very simply mind-trick that forces you to make a decision subconsciously. This trick works a lot better when you have another person around you, but can also be done alone if you are honest with yourself. Here is the process:Name the two choices you have. This is to clarify it in your mind and so that your friend knows it too.Give your friend, or yourself, a coin and decide which choice corresponds to which side. It is important that you agree to doing whatever the coin dictates. This is serious, not something that can be changed later.Flip the coin in the air and place it on the back of your hand with the other hand still covering it. Neither you nor your friend should know the result at this point.Ask yourself would you rather see heads or tails right now? If you have a friend they should be the one asking you.Put the coin back in your pocket without looking what it was. DO NOT LOOK AT THE COIN! This will ruin the trick in future times. You MUST put the coin back without you knowing the result.OPTIONAL: If you do not know what you wanted, look at the coin. The reason this trick works so amazingly is because it puts pressure on yourself to make a decision now that cannot be delayed.Your mind will bring forth what you really want as a prevention to regret.Instead of going with purely the logical reasoning you are basing it on intuition which is, in turn, based off the information you have and the feelings about the choice. It is best you try this with a friend for the first few times as it will make the toss seem more final and serious, not like something that can be changed at a whim.(This trick is used a lot online and I did not come up with it but I do not know who did.)

If you go to MEPS, do you have to make a decision to enlist right then?

OK here is the scoop...Most people enlist when they go to MEPS. They expect you to do so. However, you are not reqired to sign anything. You can still back out if you wish.

If you are having second thoughts really consider why you are doubting it. Think about the reasons you don't want to go. Make sure that it is not just cold feet. I mean it is a big decision. It is a major life changing event like getting married. You can not just change your mind later. So if you have doubts now then you need to examine them.

What happens at MEPS is all the final processing. You have your physical, and meet with the career counselors. They will tell you about the job you are signing up for and show you your contract. You need to read it before you sign it. Up until the point that you sign it you can back out.

Don't be surprized if they put pressure on you to go ahead and sign...but you are not required to at that point. They might seem angry and tell you that you are waisting their time...they may be right if that is what you plan on doing, but still you have that right. Let them get angry...they will get over it...best if you tell your recruiter that you changed your mind and avoid it all together.

If you stand on the fence too long then they will get tired of working with you. You might be banned from joining for a year if you pull something like that...

All I can say is make sure that you want to 100 percent before you do. It is a big decision...

I was in and I am glad for it. I think the military can ge a good thing. Also look at why you want to. You could be having butterflies and be a little nervous and that is normal. You will get over that if it is just you nerves.

Best wishes at what ever you decide.

I am unable to take any decision and get confused every time. What should I do to improve my decision taking ability?

This is a very common problem and you are not the only one facing it. We have all felt this problem. Here are some of the most important factors you should take into consideration before coming to a final decision. Is the decision you are taking   going to affect another person in any way? If not, this makes the decision taking process easier. Now you only have to think about yourself. Now its only about you. So how to make a smart decision? Well, as it happens, more often than not, its not the decision taking ability that fails us, its this thinking "Is this really the right decision"? When your mind is tasked with taking a decision, it automatically begins to anaylse all the variables involved. And then the logical part of your brain comes to the best decision taking into consideration all the ramifications of your decision. So far, no problem. The problem arises after you have already reached a decision. You now know the best route to take. But you can't convince your mind that its actually the best route. Its this "convincing" that you should work on.I suggest what I call the "No regret method". Stop thinking about the things that could have been. Instead focus on what you have chosen. Whenever in doubt, just remember that you took the best decision you possibly could at that time. No need to reflect on it any further.Someone rightly said " Think twice before taking any action, but dont think thrice".And yes, if your decision has repercussion for other people, its best to consult them all before arriving at any final decision.Hope this helps. :-)
