I Have A Broken G585 Laptop

Is the Lenovo G585 a good laptop?

I got this laptop on sale at BestBuy for back friday and I am not sure if its a good laptop for me to keep or if i should return it. I am some what of a gamer, I mostly play GTA San Andreas and games like RCT3.

Processor Brand AMD
Processor Platform VISION
Processor AMD E-Series
Processor Speed 1.3GHz
Display Type High-definition widescreen LED-backlit (1366 x 768)
Screen Size (Measured Diagonally) 15.6"

Will this laptop run them kind of games or will it freeze up a lot and just be a slow lower end laptop. Also I got it for 200 with tax at BestBuy. Is it even worth the money for me to keep?

Also I think it gets 2.6GHz since it has 2 processors?

I have a Lenovo laptop with a broken power button. How can I turn it on without opening my computer?

Measure 6.9 cm on the left side of the open laptop, starting from the left corner and moving toward the rear. There you will find a 1 mm round hole. Insert an open paper clip in the hole and push. That will start the computer. This instruction was given to me by a Lenovo tech over their help line and it worked for me. The hole is labeled Novo button on the computer features diagram.

What are the pros and cons of Lenovo laptops?

Well!!!!Lenovo is a chinese brand which is currently the most preferable Mobile phones and Laptops manufacturing company in the world. Lenovo Mobility is owned by Google inc. but the Chinese giant owns the Laptop market.I am Computer science student who lives in a hostel. so, I’ve used many brands’ laptops and owned them too.I always prefer Lenovo over other brands. Here are some Pro’s and Con’s for them.Pro’sThey are comparatively cheaper than other company’s laptops like Hp, Dell,Asus, Acer etc.Lenovo has much more service centers than any other company.(Lenovo Service Centre In India)It has much powerful R&D.Which means it always tries to introduce new technology Laptops. The Hardware which is used and the built quality is also good inside the lenovo’s product.Con’sAs other Laptop may look Better , Lenovo tries less to make it’s machine look more Beautiful.(but still it looks better than HP)There are very few models that Lenovo comes with NVIDIA In maximum models you can see the AMD graphics installed. (I’m not saying that AMD is not good… but Lenovo should consider this fact that they should introduce some models with NVIDIA Graphics too.well that’s it from the talk. Lenovo is quite a good laptop company. So if you’re in mind to buy a new laptop. you must consider lenovo in the first place.

Lenovo laptop g585 - screen is not connected to gpu well?

Alright... so, my computer was hit (really hard by a mad -and annoying- little brother of mine) and the screen has been filling with stripes ever since. Not one or two, but the entire screen. I need this laptop, because this one doesn't have all of my stuff on it. Literally the entire screen is covered and if I hit it hard enough in one spot, it fixes it for a second. I did some research and while going through a few random blogs, somebody said that the screen was not connected too well to the gpu (whatever that is). I don't 'do' technology ;) But if someone could tell me A.) if that IS what's wrong & B.) if I can fix it or need to have someone do it for me - I just really don't want to have to buy a new one. Thanks... if anybody can answer.

My Lenovo laptop is plugged in but not charging. What could be the reason?

I have also faced this problem with my Dell Laptop. I have done a lots of research that time to overcome with this problem. First check that if the plugging wire is loose or not. If it is tightly connected then check whether the Laptop is getting charged with another charger/adaptor. This may be the problem of Adaptor of Charger also. If the Laptop is getting charged properly with other charger. Then replace your charger. Otherwise there may be problem in the software. Please check whether the BIOS is fully updated or not. If the BIOS is updated then do one thing I am telling the STEPs note it down:-NOTE: Don’t Uninstall BATTERY ADAPTAR uninstall CONTROL BATTERY METHODDon’t worry about that. It’s just a controller problem. Try Uninstalling the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Battery Method” in the Device Manger ->Batteries. If the Battery section is not seen in the Device Manager do the following: Control Panel-> Power Options and CHOOSE the POWER SAVER MODE and Check the Batteries section will appear in Device Manager. Plugged the charging cable into the Laptop and then Uninstall it. After that don’t shut down the Laptop remove the Battery directly. After 1–2 mint. insert the battery again. And in the device manager click the “Action” and Select the “Scan for Hardware Change” and See the PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED. If not Try RESTARTING THE LAPTOP it will GUARANTEE solved the problem if u have not problem in your wire or Battery.

How do I fix a buzz noise coming from inside my laptop?

Start by checking the answers here: What does it mean when a computer makes a grinding noise?I listened to the recording and am quite sure it is a ventilator fan. It most likely gathered dust. You can open your laptop, and clean everything inside with a compressed air duster, which is a spray can that blows air. You can find it in most electronic stores. If you notice any dirt that will not come out with the spray, clean it with a piece of cloth (that will not leave fiber - like those to clean glasses) or klennex, and some industrial alcohol (or, in a pinch, you can use some strong vodka). You can also try to run your computer while open (just don’t touch any of the inside while it is running - you might damage something), and see if the noise is still there, where it comes from, and what causes it.When opening the computer, always look for the correct way to do it. Usually googling “opening lenovo B50-80” will give you a few YouTube videos showing you how to do it step-by-step.Disclaimer: I’m not a professional computer repairman, although I’ve done my fair of repairs for myself, friends and family. Repair your computer at your own risk: I’ll take no responsibility if you cause any damage to your computer. If your computer is still withing its warranty, do not open it yourself. If you do not trust yourself, or do not understand some of the lingo I (and others) use in my answers, ask someone more experienced to do it, or bring it to a repair store. That said, opening computers is fun. Good luck, and ask if you need help. :)

Is it cost effective to replace laptop motherboard?

Cost Effective. It depends on how much it will cost you.  As in... if you go to a repair shop, and they quote you a price of $600 for the job... that's parts and labor... and you could purchase a replacement laptop with equivalent or better specifications for LESS than $600?  In a situation such as that, it would NOT be cost effective to replace the laptop motherboard. Now, if you took your laptop to a shop, and the cost of the repair with parts was only going to be $200... well, you are hard pressed to find ANY laptop that would be priced so low.  In the shop where I work, there are the occasional $249 laptops, but I would never want to inflict those pieces of crap on anyone.  So in a situation like this, it would be cost effective to replace the laptop motherboard. It really isn't rocket science.  Repair cost less than replacement, it is cost effective.  Repair cost more than replacement, it is not cost effective.  Unfortunately, you can't expect people to produce a magic crystal ball and pull the answers out of thin air for you.  You have to actually take your laptop to repair shops and get estimates. The funny thing is... after you got an estimate or two, you would have figured out for yourself whether it is cost effective.  Especially if they sell laptops at one of the places you got an estimate.  At least... you should have.Of course, as laptops age, there are more parts to replace.  So depending on the age of the laptop, you might be looking at future repairs that would make the TOTAL cost of maintaining the laptop higher than the cost of the replacement.  But... we don't know anything about the laptop in question.  So based ONLY on the information given in the question, whether or not it is cost effective, depends completely on the cost of the repair job.And you have included no information relating to the cost of the repair job.
