I Have A Bump In My Armpit.do I Have Cancer

Is a bump in my armpit breast cancer???

Breast cancer at your age is almost unheard of; fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with breast cancer are under 30.

Even in older women, most breast and underarm lumps aren't cancer; 80% of those considered suspicious enough for biopsy are found to be benign.

Lymph nodes swell in response to infection; sometimes an infection so minor you don't realise you had it.

Two second-degree relatives, unrelated to each other, having had breast cancer does not increase your risk.

Only 8% of breast cancer cases are hereditary; a sign that it MAY be hereditary within a family is when several members of the same side of that family (that is, related to each other) have had it.

Even those of us who've had breast cancer - and so are at greater risk - are advised to wait two weeks before seeing a doctor if we have any concerns like this; that way, if it's simply hormonal, it has a chance to settle down.

So - if it's still there in a couple of weeks, see your doctor for reassurance.

Lump under my armpit? cancer?

i've had this small lump/ ball under my armpit for pretty long time like few months, and it's not getting any bigger or small and it doesn't hurt either. yes i shave my armpits like 4 times a week. and i'm so scared it's cancer but i'm only 14!! is it cancer? i'm soooo scared. the bump is like very small, much smaller than a pea.

Can a lump under armpit be breast cancer.?

A lump could be a symptom of breast cancer, but most lumps on the breast or under the arm aren't cancerous. It may well be a swollen lymph node, which can simply be a sign of infection, even a slight infection you don't realise you've had

If it's still there after the weekend, see your doctor; don't panic and feel you have to see a doctor immediately, Tuesday or later in the week will be fine.

You don't say which two family members have had breast cancer or how old they are/were, but hereditary breast cancer is rare. Only 5 - 10% of breast cancer cases are hereditary. To be at increased risk, you would have to have inherited one of the rare faulty genes responsible for hereditary breast cancer, BRCA1 or BRCA2, from one of your parents. If one of them carried it, you would have a 50% chance of inheriting it though inheriting it wouldn't mean you'd definitely get breast cancer.

With one in nine women getting breast cancer at some time in their lives, and with 90%+ of breast cancer cases being random rather than hereditary, it's not unusual for two or more women in the same extended family to have non-hereditary breast cancer.

After I was diagnosed, my oncologist was able to assure me that my breast cancer was not hereditary and that other members of my largely female family were not at increased risk.

There may very well be no need for you to worry so much about breast cancer.

As with other cancers, breast cancer that's diagnosed after the age of 50 is less likely to be hereditary.

Anyway enjoy your weekend, and remember that most lumps aren't cancerous. And if you're young, you have far less chance of having breast cancer - 80% of those diagnosed are over 50, it's rare in women under 40 and it's almost unheard of in under 25s

Is it bad that I wanted my armpit lump to be cancer?

Never, never wish your life away ! Your life is a gift, no matter what difficulties you may encounter. It isn`t bad that you wished your lump to be cancer but it is significant. You were thinking negatively at that time and perhaps you were tired, worried or depressed. Listen to this advice, please! If ever you feel worried about ANYTHING at all, don`t keep it to yourself. OUT with it and tell someone. There is nothing too dreadful that can`t be told. This is what Quora is all about. Cancer is not so scary as it used to be and many cancers can be managed, indeed cured. So . . . . . don`t allow yourself to think negative thoughts. TELL someone . . .and if the thoughts persist, a visit to the doctor may be necessary. Some talking therapy may be just what you need. I hold you in my heart.

I have a bump on my armpit...HELP?

I'm 13 years old.
and i've been shaving my armpits for about 2 years now.
I wear alot of deodorant because im a heavy sweater sometimes,
But i have one bump about the size of a M&M on my armpit,
and then 2 little ones.
now my other armpit is starting to get sore, but there isnt a bump.

I've been reading some of other peoples questions about it, and people were saying it could be breast cancer! :| So now i'm sorta REALLY freaking out..
Someone wanna help me..
and I've already had the ingrown hair thingy.
and i now how and what that looks like and this doesnt feel like it.

when i felt the bump (i dont care if you think its gross I wanted to see if it was hard just incase)
It wasn't hard it was squishy and it caused me a great deal of pain.

I dont know if its from me shaving , wearing to much deodorant.
for my everyday deodorant I use a normal kind of deodorant (non gel)

but whenever I have gym at school I use a different kind Adidas Ladys.

Now I don't know if that would have to do with it but im just saying things i think would help..
Im going to ask my mom in the morning to look at it
I haven't shaved for about 3 days, I know its gross but i don't want to irritate whatever it is.

please help.
thank you very much.

Lump in Left Armpit?

Very recently, a rather large bump has appeared in my left armpit. i want to believe it's some sort of pimple type thing or something maybe due to shaving (like a cut that swelled up or something?) but i've read that breast cancer can make your armpit lymph nodes swell up. Does anyone know how big the lymph nodes would get then, and if they'd hurt? Because it's incredibly painful right now to lift my arm. This lump is probably about the size of a peanut mnm. And also if it were cancer, would it be able to show up this fast? i mean literally the thing showed up over night and then grew after another day or two. i'm really hoping it might just be a reaction to the antiperspirant i used. i put it on right after shaving a few days ago. but anyway, if anyone knows more about this subject than me i'd greatly appreciate any info!

I have a lump in my armpit, should I be worried?

I’ll tell you, this has happened to me 3 times. This is going to be gross as a fair warning. Also, I don’t recommend what I do, go see a doctor if you can, this is more to relieve stress while you wait for your appointment. The first time, a large lump the size of a walnut was in my right armpit, I would squeeze at it, and it would hurt after I messed with it, it felt like it was getting more swollen. I had a doctor’s appointment for the next week, but then in the shower, it burst. I had messed with it so much that it broke the skin and this large gunk just poured out, eventually dark blood came out, then it was done. Obviously I stayed away from using antiperspirant for a time because I didn’t want to get it (more?) infected or anything, and by the time of my doctor’s appointment, it had fully healed, so I cancelled the appointment.A couple years later, the same thing, except this time, I didn’t make the appointment, I disinfected the area, disinfected a needle, poked it, relieved the gunk, put some neosporin on it, bandaged it, and that was that. When it happened again, thats when I realized that while I “always” had a red area in my armpit, which I now know was a rash, I just didn’t know everyone didn’t have this reaction to anti-perspirants. I switched to natural deodorant and it went away (but it smelled like lemongrass, gross to my senses), and then I realized I could buy normal smelling deodorant and smell “normal” but just not have whatever active ingredient is in anti-perspirants and be fine. I haven’t had a 4th cyst in over 8 years, so hopefully its permanently gone. I have tried to use antiperspirants again (accidentally bought the antiperspirant kind instead of deodorant, I didn’t realize they made the same smell in both types), and I immediately got the rash again so I threw it away.So in my opinion, I wouldn’t be too worried about it, its probably just a cyst, for me, its a 10 dollar copay to have my doctor take care of a cyst and takes only a few minutes and is mostly painless. Obviously your available healthcare will determine your best plan of action.Good luck!

Are itchy armpits attributed to breast cancer?

Please go to the doctor. I have stage IV breast cancer and initially didn’t feel a lump, but had itchy breasts and armpits. The itching ceased and then led to armpit and breast pain in both breasts and armpits. Eventually my right breast only began to hurt and became swollen. I didn’t get a mammogram until I saw visible dimpling in my right breast. Now it is too late for a cure, although I have many treatment options to buy me some time. The good news is that even if it is cancer, you will have caught it early. If I had gone in when I was only itching then I probably could have been saved. Also with inflammatory breast cancer there is no lump, so ask specifically if it could be that. Go to the doctor and get that mammogram. My doctor said I didn’t need one, and now I am 43 and have to leave my kids. Even if you are in your 20’s or 30’s please get that mammogram. I know women in their 20’s with advanced breast caner. It’s probably nothing, but you can’t take that chance.
