I Have A Ems Package And What Does This Mean

What does it mean by EMS package status: "Retention"?

I'm out of town for 3 days and my grandma send me a package from Japan and when i checked the tracking number, it said "Retention" ... "Retention Period:" with my home zip code.

I won't be home till Wed, are they going to send it back to Japan?

EMS Package in retention. What do I do?

Call the post office & ask them !

How long will a package take coming from China to the East Coast of the USA?

How long will a package take coming from China?I order consumer products from China all the time, I am a collector and many of the items I collect originate in China. Even many items that originally came from Japan are now produced in China. The Chinese people are hard working quality minded individuals that have developed over the centuries a work ethic that is capable of exceeding even the most talented competitors.I am usually told to allow 5 to 8 weeks for shipments to be delivered to my door, however the average total time or time from ordering to delivery has historically been about half that stated, and much of the delay is caused in the customs department of the USA.So to give you an idea, say I received today via UPS 5 packages, of those 3 were ordered through company’s in Japan one item was ordered on the 25th of September this year and shipped on the 29th of September, I just received it today about 10:00AM mountain standard time. If you’re on the east coast then you probably will get your shipment quicker.Another item was ordered from a Chinese company on September 29th and shipped on September 29th and the both arrived here at the same time, today at 10:00 AM mountain standard time.So actually it’s been taking about two weeks, and some change. Meaning that on average maybe 15 or 16 days to get to my front door from the time I place the order. It’s a far cry from the days that any mail took six to eight months to arrive in the USA from China.

What does "despatch from sorting center" mean? (EMS Shipping China)?

This is my first time using EMS from China, and I haven't recieved an update since it was in despatch.

These are the only updates I've recieved so far:

2010-02-03 17:11:40 TIANJIN Arrival at Sorting Center
2010-02-03 17:59:00 TIANJIN Despatch from Sorting Center
2010-02-03 19:00:53 TIANJIN Despatch from Sorting Center

What does despatch from sorting center mean, and how long will it be before I recieve another update?

What does "origin post is preparing shipment" mean from USPS?

It means way too much to be lumped into that one little group of words. When your package is sorted at another country’s postal service, all packages destined for the same destination are loaded onto a pallet headed for the airline (a pallet usually has to be full before moving along in the process, so there’s one wait) and sent to the same country or region of a country. So packages headed for DE, PA, MD, NJ, etc. (northeast region) are sent to New York’s Kennedy Airport. All of this gets one status, which is the one you’re asking about. Now begins a new wait. At some point, USPS will eventually update your status to something equally misleading like “processed through facility” or “inbound into ISC…” Because the truth is, if 2–3 days have passed with this new status, it means the CBP still has your package. The CBP (Customs & Border Patrol) LOVES to hang on to packages for no good reason. Still, because ISC is part of the USPS, they’re made to answer for a package that the CPB hasn’t released to them and they’re given no reason why. The CBP doesn’t answer to anyone. So bottom line answer: It’s stuck on this status during the whole time your package is being scanned out of the warehouse, loaded into pallets, loaded into the airport, screened at the airport, sent to the destination country, and arrives at the destination country. The other possible reasons it’s stuck on that status:1 Too many shipments to a destination can take your package out of that flight. Because flights are booked far in advance, your package might actually have to wait for a new flight days later.2 If there’s a problem with the scheduled aircraft, such as a weather delay) same as above.3 If any of the packages lumped into your palette aren’t properly closed, they might take the whole palette out. Same issue if there are other suspicious packages in your group. They will take the whole palette out and miss the flight.4 On occasion, the USPS forgets to even do the arrival scan, so it’s possible it’s already here. In this case, neither the USPS or shipping post office will give you an answer if you call. Most of the time it eventually arrives. Of course, it means you’re late on that birthday gift or you’re in fetal position because of your drug withdrawal. Doesn’t look like anyone’s doing anything to make this absurd process more efficient.

What does "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment" mean from USPS and "Posting" mean for EMS?

I had an item shipped to me from China to the Boston, MA using EMS. The EMS tracking number could be used for USPS as well.

I am wondering if the package would be delivered this week because I really need the items inside. It will be Thanksgiving soon.

Also what does "posting" mean for EMS?

So far my tracking number for EMS on their website states: "Your item was received by sorting center(FUZHOU) at 2013-11-22 23:50:28"
