I Have A General Aa Degree .does This Cut The Time I Have To Spend Getting My Ba

Can you get another bachelor's degree after getting a bachelor's degree?

What?! I never heard of that...

They should always give you one degree for each major. Anything else is unheard of. They are cheating you out of your hard work. Tell them they need to fix that.

When I graduated for my associate degree, I received one degree for each major. Both were AS of Science. When I graduated with my BA, I had one for each of my three degrees.

To answer your question, Yes.

You can obtain another BA or as many BA if you want to as long as you satisfy the degree requirements. Most people rather move up than horizontal. Horizontal is getting many degree while vertical is getting higher level of the same major.

You don't spend another 4 years. You basically have to fill in the major requirements section. Most major is divided into 2 sections: major related and general. Because you have a dual major, most of your general section is complete, you only need to complete the major related classes for the third degree. The typical difference from one degree from another is 7 classes or a difference of 21 hours. So to obtain a third degree (say for psychology), you need to take 7 psychology classes. It range from 7 to 12 classes depending on the school.

Has anyone ever done that?

Yes. I am one of those. There ain't many of us, but we do exist.

Do you spend another 4 years?

No. It is more like 1 year for each addition major. Within the same department for example for business say finance, marketing, and management, the time frame for each additional major can be 6 months because most classes can be overlapped and count toward one another major; thus, the time frame is shorter for majors within the same department.

Am you wasting your time with so many majors?

Only you can answer that question. The way I see it is that 1 year extra and 1 year tuition for one additional major is good if I ever want to change career. If I hadn't, I would have to go back to school for a longer period of time to obtain the same thing. A small price to paid for a happy and successful future ahead...

Is it worth getting an associates degree?

I will start out with where I want to end.
I want to get Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from CSULB.
Currently I am stationed in San Diego is it worth getting an associates degree in physical education from a local community college or should I just get a general studies associate degree?

I don't want to get an associates in Physical Education if that will be my bachelor's and if there are better options but then again I am just starting off and not sure which direction to go. My ultimate goal is to take part in a group called Troop 2 Teachers and become a P.E Teacher in California or anything relating to that maybe a Health teacher.
any info will help thx.

How long does it typically take to earn a bachelor's degree after an associate's degree?

It all depends on what the school which you are going for a bachelor’s degree, accepts from the school where you earned your associates degree from…If it’s the same school, it will likely be about two years (or about 60 credits). However, in my situation, I foolishly went to one of those BS for profit schools for a totally worthless associate’s degree. It was a complete waste of ~18 months and $20,000. More than 15 years later, I’m still paying for that. However, I saw the reality before I finished, and I started working on my bachelors at a much more reputable school (see my bio).As a result, I started with zero credits and had to earn every one of them at that school. So, it should have taken four years. But, I worked hard, took more classes than most people, and completed my bachelor’s degree three years after I started. I went on and added a MBA in another year. So I went from nothing to a MBA in four years. All from a Big 10 university. So it all just depends on what schools you go to.Good luck!

Full time student spending 4 years in community college?

You can stay at the community college for as long as you want to keep taking courses, but you cannot get any degree higher than an associates degree-which is a 2 year degree. The rest of the classes you took would have little merit, and might actually make you look foolish to a potential employer. It would be like saying you have 120+ semester hours of credit-but only an associates degree!
Also remember that jr. colleges offer associates degrees in general studies geared towards meeting the gen ed requirements to transfer to a 4 year university. Thus, you generally cannot have a major in business administration at the associates degree level. Your "major" is the general studies required for the gen ed to transfer to a university.

Pell grant financial aid 2nd associate degree??

I agree with Found-1. You would still be eligible for Pell funding providing you have not earned your first Bachelors. But what is a second AA degree really going to do for you? You are better served by attaining a higher level degree. Get your Bachelors degree! Your courses in general studies will fill most of the lower division requirements of your 4 year degree, and the two years of upper division work can be focused on computer science. It's a win-win for you.

Does an associate's degree expire?

It's not that the degree itself expires. You will always have an Associate's Degree, and you can use the Associate's Degree in any field that requires it. The issue is that at many universities, classes taken more than seven years ago are non-transferable. This means that you can't transfer any classes taken more than seven years ago in to a Bachelor's Degree program, whether those classes were part of an Associate's Degree program or if you just took random classes.

Also, an AAS usually doesn't transfer as seamlessly as an AA, unless it's for a specific program (like AAS Management to BS Management). Unfortunately, you probably would have had to take many classes over anyway.
