I Have A Job Dilemma

Who can help with my job dilemma?

Im 17... so keep that in mind... dont think its important though :P

So I got a call today telling me that I have an interview on thursday at silvercity (movie theatre).
My cousin works at playdium (arcade), and she is really tight with the manager who does the hiring etc. She is going to give my resume to her manager based on if I get the theatre job.

What should I do, apparently silvercity has late hours. And Playdium is more strict on conduct (being late for shifts etc) but has shorter hours. I need help deciding who I should accept a job offer from. None of the jobs are guaranteed but playdium seems more guaranteed because of my cousins relationship with the manager.

Also which job is better/ what do you think WOULD be better.

Love vs career dilemma?

My boyfriend is Italian and i am english. I am at uni in london and he has now got a job in Italy (he graduated a year before me from the same uni). We had always agreed that i would move to italy once i had completed my degree. I am starting to have second thoughts - i do not speak good italian and would probably end up having to teach english whereas in the uk i could actually have a chance of pursuing my dream career. I feel like i cannot ask him to move back to the uk as it would mean leaving his family behind and a really fantastic job. I am beginning to think that i am too young to make such a huge decision. I love him so much and do not want to lose him, but do not know how to resolve this situation.

Dilemma between 2 jobs- tutor and waitress! Help?!?

Okay so I hold two jobs at the moment and am a 19 year old university student.

Thing is.. it's the end of the year and I'll be entering my final year at uni at the start of 2009 so I have 2 months or so to choose one of the 2 jobs i'm currently holding.

1st job-
Tutor. I earn about $35 per hour and it's pretty easy. I sit there and get thrown questions at. Easy money right? Thing is, the tution centre I tutor at is ages away from where I live.. and takes me about 45 mins to travel there by train and bus.
With this job, I work only 2 and a half hours a week (not taking into consideration transport time!)

2nd job.
Waitress. I earn about $12 per hour with this job which is peanuts but I love the environment I work in. It's never mundane at work because the people I work with are lovely most of the time and I do enjoy working there. Plus, the restaurant I work at is only a 5 min walk away from my house which means it's really convenient.
Only thing is, it's not an easy job as we all know. Aside from having to meet customers' demands (sometimes hefty) and facing some stressful s**t when it's super busy, I also have to sweep and mop the floors and stack chairs and stuff when the night is over.
With this job, I work about 4 hours per week.

I'm in a dilemma right now- which job would u let go off? My main focus is def. on my studies and while the tutoring job gets me thrice as much money as the waitressing job.. I prefer the environment and experience I get with the latter. Sigh.

Help me decide?

I am in a dilemma. How can I choose my career?

People with a “job” mindset, work to make both ends meet. They don’t enjoy what they do and find little meaning in what they are doing. For people with a “career” outlook, job satisfaction is the uppermost priority. They can go the extra mile to make things happen and usually get immersed in their work. They enjoy putting in more efforts in their work, they obviously gain more satisfaction and monetary rewards follow. The question now is “I have a job, how do I make it a career?”Firstly analyze if you are in the right domain. Are you a people person, a number person, an analytical person, a creative person or an outdoor action person? If you find your current job not aligned to your inherent capabilities, it isnot too late. In fact it is neverlate. As you already know most organizations providefor internal job rotation. With HR moving to become a more strategic function than a support function, today movement into your area of interest in your organization is not impossible. You might have a subjective and biased view of what you enjoy doing or you mightnot have a clue at all. The most important conversation you will ever have is the onewith your own self. This positive or negative self-talk reflects your underlying assumptions about people the market and your own capabilities. If you need topursuea career of your choice, you have three choices: stop, start and do something differently. Your awareness of your unknown weaknesses, blind-spots and limitationsare keys to eliminating possible threats to your success. But it is your firm belief in your strengths and your ability to work on your capabilities that will change the game in your favour.

I'm in a dilemma about my career. Can you please read the description and give me suggestions?

One good suggestion, I can give is: Don’t ever compromise on your dreams.Secondly, is your dream studying Design or getting into NID ?If you have to choice either one of them, what will you choose ? Either the cup or the tea ?If studying Mechanical Design is your dream, then there are many other institutes in our country which have Diploma or Masters programmes in Design. What’s wrong in doing M.Tech. in Mechanical Design ? It is the same thing. Same syllabus, same topics, same applications. If you’re into CAD modelling, you don’t have to join M.Tech. Let me tell you, Very little part of Mechanical Design is CAD modelling. CAD is completely different thing.Take a look at this answer to get an overview on it. Then, try asking this question to yourself.

I have two job interviews and a dilemma. Unsure about notice periods.?

One interview is tomorrow. It's at NEXT retail and is a temporary position.

The second interview is at Homebase and is permanent given that you do okay in the 12-week probationary period.

If I'm offered the first job, I should take it, I've been applying for jobs for MONTHS and these are the first two interviews I've had in ages!
BUT I obviously want the Homebase job more. Apart from the fact it's the nicer place.

So I'm not going to turn the first job down. However, if I get the second one at homebase, will I have a notice period being a temp? If so, how long do you reckon?

Thanks!

How should I get over my dilemma between higher studies after B.Tech or a job after B.Tech?

Dear friend if u are getting a good job then go with it take experience initially because higher education door is always open. But in job fresher and age limit criteria is there. So don’t get confused take some years experience then come and study it will upgrade your profile.

I am on a career dilemma and need advice on what to choose, could you please help?

Opportunism works for you until you painfully bump into its boundaries. You accepted an offer. You have a moral duty to yourself and the company to make that work. You can explain leaving after a year as a good stepping stone. You can't back trade on this one.The acelarator has bankability and is a bragable gig.  Three nice guys in a garage (or twenty in a crappy office) aren't necessarily that.I see a lot of me-me-me arguments in your comments, not a lot of clear thinking.Sit it out. Commit truthfully and see what it brings you for a yea or so. Then explore opportunities.

I am facing dilemma on whether to accept my job offer from TCS or prepare for government Jobs (SSC-CGL, SBIPO, IBPS)? I have no interest in working in an IT company. Will I be able to prepare for government exams if I accept the job offer?

Bro, In my personal opinion go with bank job preparation. I am the person who faced the same dilemma when i complete my B.E(MECHANICAL) in 2014. I selected in wipro through campus selection but I am not interested in IT filed. But my parents convinced me to take over the job by telling the same dialogue(You have got a job. It's a dream for many). After entering into this IT filed i regret my self a lot and once if you stick to this IT field u cant come out, if you belongs to middle class family. Apart from the motivation and dialogues, Practically it doesn't work to prepare simultaneously. I started preparing for govt exams from 2015. Based on today's competition we need a lot of practice. Daily you need to spend min 4–6 hrs in practicing, but it doesn't workout daily if you are working in a project. One day your tech lead will ask you to fix the bug by end of the day. Some other day your manager will assign a task and ask you to complete it in 2 days. Even the manager knows that cant be completed in 2 days if you are working 8–9 h/day. So you need to work for late nights. After working 2–3 years in IT, a middle class mind will compromise with the present job and we will leave our passion. This what happened in my life and some of my friends too.Coming to your Case, Regarding TCS, Its one of the top Indian companies. Even some of my friends are working in TCS. They also joined in TCS like freshers. Training period and the pre-project allocation time will be like a paid vacation for a fresher. But once you allocated to project mainly development platform, you will fell like a hell. Maintenance and support projects are little bit cool. Its purely depends on your luck and skills. One of my friends got project after 11 months, Mean while he completed his GRE coaching and went to US for MS. So, its 100% pure luck. Finally, If you are good at aptitude and English, you can crack the exam with in 1 year without doing any IT job. English plays a key role in overall cutoff, which decides the winner and loser.Hope my experience will help you, But at last→decision is yours bro.
