I Have A Low Body Fat Percentage But Look Fat .

Low body fat percentage, but still look fat...?

You might look bigger depending on your height and weight, but that doesn't make you 'fatter'.

For example if he is 6ft, 160lb with 15.6% body fat and you are 5ft8, 180lb with 9.7% body fat then you may well look more bulky than him, but you are still 'leaner'.

Is it bad to have a low body fat percentage?

I just calculated mine and it's at 18% which is "below the healthy range" for my age and gender. I'm trying to gain muscle but I would like to shed the fat around my inner thighs and on my stomach. I KNOW I don't have much fat but I would just like to lose the little fat I DO have (most of it, not all) so I could tone up. But if it would be "unhealthy" to lose fat, should I not? I'm 5'7" and 116 pounds and my goal is to be 130 (I look my best at 130) but in MUSCLE. Would muscle make up for the loss of fat? Does having "enough fat" really matter as long as you eat enough and take care of your body?

How to lower body fat percentage to get abs?

I am 14 a year old male. I weigh 130 pounds and my body fat percentage is 13-14 %. I play sports at LEAST 3 hours a week(thats a bad week) and when it's soccer season at LEAST 7 hours week. I am fairly skinny except my stomach which is kinda fat but not anything noticeable with a short on but when I take my shirt off and walk(at the pool) you can see my stomach jiggle slightly and it's noticeable. I want to lower my body fat percentage to 10 or 11 % and get abs. I have recently started lifting weights and doing sit-ups(about a month now). I tried dieting and running every day to get my body fat percentage down, (dieting is easy for me and works very well) I did it for about a month and drooped to 120 until i pulled a muscle and stopped running and i went back up to 130 but during that month my body fat percentage was around 10 % but I looked really skinny and I didn't see how i could get abs because i could pinch on a little amount of fat(about .5 cm.) and I know I need fat to convert to muscle.

So how do i decrease my body fat percentage while staying the same weight or even increasing a bit (if it's muscle). Do i just do crunches and sit-up because I have heard you can't get abs just by doing those so that why I dieted.

If it helps i'm around 5'9 and I grew 3 inches in the last year(part of the reason I look so skinny around my arms and legs) and I sweat like crazy when I exercise or jog or run.

Please don't show me any sites or products as I said I look really skin normally and I'm 14 there's no way my parent will let me try dieting pills or any stuff like that.

Is my body fat percentage high?

Jane is correct to say that you should be careful not to confuse BMI with Bodyfat Percentage.

But her information about bodyfat levels is DANGEROUSLY WRONG.

(Unfortunately, some suppliers of bodyfat monitoring equipment try to scare their customers with this kind of misinformation!)

Marissa is right; 'normal' healthy bodyfat averages around the figure of 25%.

Most athletic events require a bit of bodyfat; boxing can be more dangerous if your bodyfat gets below 15% (it's a form of padding). Duration running (50 miles or more) is mainly powered by fat, but as the distances reduce, the amount of stored fat you need also gets lower.

Track runners and professional cyclists often have bodyfat levels below 10%, but for people who run or ride less intensively, such a low bodyfat can be dangerous and often indicates 'exerexia' (an obsession with exercise that is related to (and a 'classic' symptom of) anorexia).

Bodybuilders aim for a bodyfat below 3%, but this is so difficult to achieve that they usually follow a 'cycle' from about 8% 'off-season' to a series of 'peak lows' timed to coincide with their chosen competitions.

I have a low body fat percentage <16%, and exercise regularly, but my face isn’t particularly defined. How do you eliminate face fat (baby fat)?

Unless You Are A Woman, Around 15–16 % Body Fat Isn’t “That Lean”When I was around 16 % body fat after a long bulk last year, I didn't look lean at all, and my face looked bigger than it does now.To be honest with you, 16 % body fat is not lean. For me at least, changes to my face starts happening around 13 - 14 %Body Fat StorageWhere exactly fat is stored in your body can vary from person to person. It is really all about genetics, but you can say that a big factor is gender and race, but also your current body fat percentage can be used to predict where most of your fat might be stored.Lose Face Fat Fast?Try say that 10 times fast in a row :)A significant amount of research has shown that fat loss happens all over the body.It can’t be targeted specific areas. To lose fat in your face you have to lose fat everywhere on the body, and as you lower the total amount of body fat, the face fat will get stripped away as well.Fat Loss BasicsTo lose fat you need to eat less calories than you burn.If your goal is simply to lose weight it doesn’t how you structure your diet as long as you have a calorie deficit. But if you want to maintain muscle and not feel miserable you have to be smart about the food you eat and you need to incorporate some kind of resistance training.I have written something cool about how to use weight training to lose weight. You can check it out here if you want:Strengthery.com

Why do I still look fat with normal weight and body fat percentage?

A number of reasons. At a certain point, “looking fat” is a subjective assessment of the situation. This guy is about 18% body fat, maybe a little bit more. He’s not fat, but he’s not fat. He could find ways to look at himself to say that he’s fat, though.18% isn’t that trim. See above. What matters a lot when it comes to the view of whether or not you’re fat is where you wear the fat, and how muscular you are. Here’s a guy that’s 18% body fat, but he’s heavily muscled. His fat is fairly evenly distributed around his body so that he doesn’t really look fat.Me? I’m about 18% body fat, but nearly all of it is in my love handles area. My forearms and calves have nearly no fat on them and are heavily vascularHere’s a picture of my hand, very vascular, and no fat.If you look at me from the right angle, you might think I was fat. If you looked at me from above my belly button, you’d think I was ripped. My advice is to exercise to build up muscle. It won’t get rid of the fat necessarily, but it’ll provide you a nicer shape, plus it’s great for you.If you’re not losing fat anymore, you’re not on an energy deficit. Your caloric needs change over time. To continue to lose fat, you have to continue to eat less, or figure out a way to increase your metabolism (lift weights!).

What’s the healthiest body fat percentage for a man to look Fit / Ripped, but not so low as to be dangerous to his health?

I believe, in my opinion, a considerable percentage of body fat of average body fat for a guy is 18 to 24%. 15 to 17% which puts you in the fitness category, while 6 to 13% is athlete status.Check out these percentage clusters and compare;18-20%Others can tell you’re active and healthy, but you don’t have as much definition of the muscles. There’s probably shadowing of the abs and definition in your arms, but you don’t have a six pack or rippling arms.14-17%You might see the upper two abdominal areas, but the bottom abs probably aren’t coming in as much. You have some separation and hardness of the muscles all over and slight vascularity, but everything isn’t dug out quite as deep.9-13%You definitely have a six pack and obvious vascularity—you are totally ripped. Your chest and arms are defined, but bulkier than the body fat group below you.5-8%You pretty much look like Michelangelo’s Statue of David—as a living anatomy chart. All your muscles and veins are defined. You might not have the biggest muscles in the room, but they are certainly the most defined. When you want to hit a new body fat category, you have to decide: How important is being less than 10%? Because it requires certain lifestyle commitments. At 20%, you might cave and have half a pizza. At 15%, you’ll have one or two slices. And at 8%, you’re sniffing the pizza and eating your salad.

Really skinny with high body fat percentage?

I'm a 28 year old female. My height is 5'4" and I have weighed 115 pounds since high school. I recently joined a gym and found out my body fat percentage was 31%. I was in disbelief so I got it checked at the doctor, and it was 32%. That's an obese level, but I'm skinny! I have a flat stomach and thigh gap. My arms have been starting to get slightly flabby recently though (reason why I joined the gym in the first place).

Admittedly, I pretty much live off of junk food. Fast food is often my go-to for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I have never been very active either. Even still, where is all this fat I have if you can't see it? And how am I skinny if I have as much fat as an obese person?

Will losing bodyfat make my penis look bigger?

6 inches is average. Maybe even a little bigger than average. I think that would be long enough to please a woman, I'm sure really. I mean what length of penis a woman likes is really dependent on things, sometimes a woman needs a smaller penis because the big ones hurt, I could go on about it but don't put your self-worth in the size of your genitals. You're not even small. I'm even kind of fond of the smaller ones myself, but with a bunch of women going on and on about the longer ones, I can see where men would get concerned about it. But no way would I consider 6 inches small. I'd say it's average. Some women might even say 6 inches is large. Depends on the woman. I have no idea how old you are, but if by chance you're a high-schooler, there's a lot of weird and inaccurate sexual talk going around with your peers, don't pay too much mind to what people are throwing around. I speak from past experience there.

But as for the actual question. It's a pretty popular urban legend. But no, that's not how it works. Losing weight can make it LOOK bigger, but it wouldn't actually change the size.
